Do you all remember my mission to find stools? Kitchen stools. Beautiful kitchen stools.
Like these stools I found at a local consignment shop.
Beautiful, right?
$10 a piece. What a steal. Nate was super excited about them but humored me anyways because the three stools combined were a third of the cost of all of the other stools I was looking at.
I tore them apart, spray painted the bases and stained the tops. I was afraid to bring them in the house for fear of hating them. So they sat in the garage disassembled for 2 months. It’s really hard being me. And my husband. And being a blogger that takes night photos on her cell phone.
The problem is that I’m debating if I like them. I mean, I like them. But do I like them in my kitchen? I’m such a weirdo. I always have to grow to love new things. Even though I really like news things. They look less JCPenney catalog than our saddle stools but I’m not sure about their size.
I’m a sneaky blogger too. Kitchen backsplash reveal has to wait until next week. I have an annoying non-matching outlet plate cover situation to deal with first. Use your imagination.
So what are your thoughts? Because you know what? I’m not really sure what my thoughts are. I just keep typing “stool” and laughing.
You did a good job of hiding the back splash :)
ReplyDeleteI love the stools...the makeover turned out great.
I really like them a lot and I think the scale is just right. But when you decide you don't like them, you can sell ten to your friend Kim.
ReplyDeleteLOVE them! they are industrial looking, the size is right, and i just want to end this whole stool debacle. ;)
ReplyDeletelove them they look so good and the scale is right. ang
ReplyDeleteThey look great in your kitchen. Keep them. Move on to another house related fixation.
ReplyDeleteThey look good!! Keep!
ReplyDeleteI like the stools, I just don't know if I like them in your kitchen.
ReplyDeleteKeep 'em! They look great!
ReplyDeleteWhat I found with our stools was that while they were the correct height for counters, sitting at the elevated breakfast bar was a different matter altogether.
ReplyDeleteWe found our "bar-height" seating (ha! didn't say stools again...) at a restaurant supply warehouse. I love them.
I really like them, and good on your for taking on that project. Things like that always seem simple and then I find myself staring at whatever I got (for now, it's chalk paint and a blank cabinet in our kitchen) just......procrastinating. But I think you did a great job- I think they definitely work for the kitchen, too. Good job!
ReplyDeleteI really like them! And you are very sneaky for hiding the backsplash!
ReplyDeleteLove those curved legs! I think it ties in your industrial-looking chairs well without being too matchy matchy.
ReplyDeleteYES!!!! You do LOVE them there. Because they are awesome and they look SO SO good. I think they do wonders in tying in the modern feel of the kitchen with the farmhouse chic dining table. The colors play off eachother...seriously awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love them!! We are also looking for kitchen stools, but we are having an issue with the cost as well!! (And I like them sooo much better than your saddle ones ~ they just were not working!)
ReplyDeleteI really like them! I think they tie in the rustic look of your table and chairs... and I like that they aren't straight from a catalog! Can't wait to see the reveal!
ReplyDeleteI think they're fantastic! If you decide you don't like them after all, you could always sell them to me!
ReplyDeleteStool. Heh.
i believe I called dibs (in my head) first ma'am.
DeleteThems fighting words.
DeleteLove them, and love how you hid your backsplash haha!
ReplyDeleteAnd what is wrong with night time, cell phone pictures?!?! Isn't that how all blog pictures are supposed to be taken? No? Dang, then I'm screwed. :(
I had been doing a good job of not posting crappy photos. It's all downhill from here kids.
DeleteNot only do I love them but I'm extremely envious. I sold my bar stools 2 months ago and have yet to find a good replacement. I would love to have those. They're exactly the size, shape and colour I'm looking for. Great job girl!
ReplyDeleteI voted nay because I really like them but I am so matchy matchy that I would need some silver in them to compliment the kitchen chairs. ugh i am a terrible blog friend sorry!
ReplyDeleteOh, I get the matchy matchy. I think that's what I'm struggling with too!
DeleteI didn't vote because I couldn't decide between yay & nay, how's that for helpful?? I DO like them, and it goes without saying that they're 1,000 times better than they started out being. But, something is off. I LOVE the metal base, but the scale of the top seems too small. I don't even know how you'd change that. Hummmmm...
ReplyDeleteHmmm..I like the idea of them but something is off. I like the colors and how they tie in with the little bits of industrial/rustic you have going on but I agree with Carrie, the scale of the seat is to small. They need to be chunkier or just larger in general. I don't know.
ReplyDeleteThose turned out BEAUTIFUL!!! I Love them!!!
ReplyDeleteI love them! They look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteLove them! They look like something out of Pottery Barn now. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThey seem to match the floor pretty darn well (good job on the stain!). They aren't huge and bulky either, which is a good thing. I say keep them!
ReplyDeleteI love them! They look super nice and updated. I am such a big fan of those dark, spindly legs up against the white of the cabinets. Yum!
ReplyDeleteI love them. They look expensive and designery now that you made them over. I do wish you had just ONE more.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing! Darn thrift stores only having 3. They look so much nicer now that you gave them some love, though!
DeleteThey look great in your kitchen. I'm sure those chairs will be eternally gratefull that you saved them.
ReplyDeleteI really like them! I think they really go with your industrial farmhouse(?) vibe. You might be right about the size though. They look a little small to me. Perhaps if the seats were larger? I dunno.
ReplyDeleteStool heheheh - I'm glad I'm not the only one. I giggle at 'balls' too. My hubby calls me Jack when I do this (Jack mcfarland from Will & Grace). Anyway, I wonder if it is the size of the seat that is 'off' or tripping you up? I like them as-is (great re-do job!), but I could see liking them even more if the wood was a bit bigger (hehehehe more giggling). Seriously though... thoughts?
ReplyDeleteHa. I'm really not sure what is off with them. They are growing on me. I change my mind a lot of so who knows!
DeleteI like the stools very much--your makeover is gorgeous! Kudos for seeing what they could be. I think what might be holding you back from loving them is the proportion. I think if you had two more, they would fill up the space nicely. Since they are petite, three seems a little out of proportion with the size of the island.
ReplyDeleteI really like the colors you choose and the style of them. Nice job refinishing them!. I almost feel like they need to be one size bigger. I would definitely keep them though because you got a steal for $30!!
ReplyDeleteI think the stools look great. Tall enough to sit comfortably at the counter but thin enough to be out of the way when not in use.
ReplyDeleteOkay I'm the odd man out here but I voted nay. I kinda feel like they need to be slightly more substantial. I don't know if it's the way the pictures were taken but they seem to small for that island almost dainty in a way. Maybe you need one more?
ReplyDeleteI like them! You did a great job making them look sparkly and new!
ReplyDeleteI think your stools look great. So many times the stools are so heavy looking that they just overpower a bar.
ReplyDeleteJudy
I love the way the stools look. Also, I love that you got a deal and turned them into something fabu. What kind of spray paint did you use?
ReplyDeleteNamaste'
