Navy Rug Obsession

My newest obsession is a new rug for our living room.  I love obsessions.  They keep me entertained during slow work days.  You can send my Pharmacist of the Year award directly to my home.  Thanks.

Do I need a new rug?

Hmm...define "need.” Nate says "no."  But he's also a fun hater so take that for what it's worth.  For the record, he really hates my obsessive personality.  I told you.  He’s a fun hater.

We are starting to think about putting in built-ins around the fireplace...which will lead to a room transformation.  I'm digging navy lately.  I think it will add a little color to a very neutral room.  Plus our current rug is too small for the space.  I think it's very pretty.  Just small-ish.  I also have decorating ADHD.

I know some of you like to day dream about rugs too so I'll share my current loves.  Feel free to enable me all you want.  I really am just day dreaming at this point.  I’m trying to be less impulsive with my decorating purchases.  It’s hard.  Real hard.  Super hard.  Need medication hard.
Let’s drool together.

This rug is probably my favorite.  Naturally it would be over $1000.  Dream big, little pharmacist.  Dream big.

This one speaks to me.  It’s a moody rug.  Kind of like me Nate.

This rug speaks me too.  I’m going to add “bilingual” to my resume.  Second language: rugs.

I wish rugs were less expensive.   Darn rugs.   This rug has a nice simple yet interesting vibe going on.

What are you day dreaming about?  Any other fantastic navy rug suggestions for me?  Who are my fellow obsessive personality blog readers?

  2. I am obsessive AND married to a fun-hater so we are alike! Where we are not alike is the fact that your dog does not shed so YOU can have a navy rug! I must go either rugless or tan! Love your choices by the way! Have a great day!

  3. You can add me to that list! When I get something in my head, it's very hard to not get me do it/buy it ;) My husband thinks I'm nuts, oh well. I totally understand how your need for a new rug has you a little obsessed..I was on the same boat a few years ago, hopefully Nate understands...it's a women thing. Love all of your choices....and why is it that we always fall in love with the most expensive one????

  4. Brad is a fun hater too. Most of the he understands my obsessive ways, but sometimes I think I drive him a little batty. Whatever. He annoys me sometimes too. Ah, love. I like the navy rug idea. Do it!

  5. I'm loving navy too. Just need to find more places to add it to our house. I've added a little to our living room & really love the look! Maybe I'll have to paint something navy. Hmm, that sounds like fun (and a lot of cursing trying to get good coverage....) I LOVE the first one. OF COURSE it's $1000 - I have that kind of luck too. Waiting to make decorating decisions is good sometimes - helps with the decorating ADD. Sarah

  6. I just bought a navy 4x6 ikat rug at Marshalls for $40. No idea where i will use it but I couldn't pass it up. And my personal pharmacist makes rubber band balls at work. You may have some competition for pharmacist of the year. ;)

  7. I'm only obsessive about washing my hands every 5 seconds (because I just can't get them clean) and making sure I can hear the dog talking to me when I sleep. You know, normal stuff.

I really like the last carpet option.. and built-ins would be an awesome project for that room!!

  8. Totally digging the rug choices you've picked! I mean, Navy is my current color obsession at the moment, so obviously I'm on board with you here.
You'll just have to go scouring the thrift stores to find another steal like your rug in the entry! ;) Maybe a less violent one for the living room, though...

  9. I browse rugs online all. the. time. Is there a support group or something?? My favorites are the moody and bilingual rugs you chose... very fun!

  10. Love those options. Here's my solution to husbands that don't go with the flow: I find the spot that I'm going to move the current rug to (like under the dining room table) and then make the case that I would have had to buy a new rug for there so really, it's a wash. love the rug options.

  11. I'm the same way. Once I see something at a store, or I get an idea...well its in my head until its in my house! I am practicing strong willpower not to buy anything decorating related until we move...i mean, unless it will fit perfectly in the new house...and its a good deal...and...

I can't wait to see you guys (well probably nate) build those built ins!

  12. Def. do the built ins! I also think some pops of color could help! I like the two rugs in the middle. Then you could add some fun blue (and some other color) to the built ins.

  13. I think that fate generally sets up "project obsessers" with fun haters just to keep us from spending our life savings on rugs and pillows :) I'm a new fan of yours and generally obsessed with navy as well. Also big supporter of the built ins... going white you think??

  14. Funny! I just wrote a rug post last night! Our husbands
Have the same thoughts about our personality quirks. A new rug would spice up a neutral space for sure.

  15. Rugs take up a bunch of my mind too - searching for the perfect one (when my mind is always changing) at a price I can afford is a part-time job.

  16. You crack me up. Love this blog. And LOVE that 2nd rug. It also speaks to me - perhaps we can speak rug together. lol

  17. I like the last two options!
I am obsessive like that too. I'll get an idea in my head (right now it's a console table for the dining room) and keep searching for it till I find it and then move on to the next thing. I am not married to a fun hater though!

  18. I love option 2, but 3 is my favorite. I hear ebay has great deals on rugs, although I've never bought one there. Built-in bookshelves would look fabulous around your fireplace.

  19. I think a navy rug is definitely a need! I love the second one because it brings in a much more bold and exciting print!

  20. I am always obsessed and Pinterest has just ramped up my level of crazy a little more. I am a fan of 2 and 3. Just out of curiosity, has Nate come to terms with being a fun hater?

  21. I definitely think a navy rug and built ins would look AWESOME in there. I am liking something with a large pattern.

  22. Why is Nate such a party pooper? Although rugs are seriously so expensive, it's disgusting. Why are they so much money?

I like #3 best, I think. But, I'm really stinkin' excited about your built-ins. Do you think those will be ready to share next week? Because I cannot wait any longer.

  23. ok... I am seriously obsessed with the moody rug!!! Seriously, that one needs to be in my home!!! Oh ya, and yours too, of course!

  24. Too funny! I'm sorry to hear your husband is a fun hater! lol
I am also digging the navy lately.

  25. i think i am in love with the rugsusa one!! tell nate that clearly everyone in blogland thinks its a good idea, so it HAS to be!

yay for built-ins! can't wait to see what you do with them!

  26. Stacy and Clinton taught me that navy was a neutral. I like to think it's a the most fun neutral. Clearly I've become a little obsessed with the color.
I say go for the rug. My personal fav is the ikat (2nd one).
ps - a friend bought a great rug from overstock and said it was a great price for the size. I'm not as brave.

  27. I think Navy would be perfect for that room! Where did you get the leaning bookcases that are next to your fireplace now? I am thinking of purchasing two from JCPenneys. Our room is set up the exact same way as yours is and would love the extra storage.

The last rug is my fav!

  29. Hey! Rugs are my current obsession too! We have a lot of hard wood going on, and I love it... but the living room and dining area really need a little kick of something extra.

D accuses me of wanting to cover up all his hard work. Men!

  30. Love some of those rugs! Have you checked overstock.com yet? I have seen the same rugs from Rugsusa there, and the last few I noticed were cheaper on Overstock. Just a thought!

I am helping a friend decorate his place (will blog about it in a couple weeks when things really get going) and have been looking at similar style rugs.

I say go for it! and yes, a bigger rug would look really good in that space.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm totally obsessing over navy right now as well so I saw go for it with a new rug! But I also have design adhd on a teacher's salary... doesn't work out so well.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Now you've got me obsessing over the navy overstock rug I cannot afford.
    Blah!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Love the navy idea - especially the last two!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yep, I would take any of those rugs. They are all super cool and yes, you need one. NEED.
