I think I’ve mentioned before that Nate is currently an accounting zombie.
It’s really awesome having a birthday during a month when you’re husband is a zombie. Zombies aren’t very good at buying birthday gifts. And I’m one of those people who thinks their birthday celebration should last the entire month. Can you tell?
I took matters into my own hands this year. Along with increased cardio, I purchased my own birthday present.
Do you like?
Because I love. So much.
I fell in love with the sign when I saw it in Jen's living room during her holiday home tour…seen here! (I also want to move into Jen’s house. Is that weird? Of course not.) I needed to have that sign. Happy Birthday to me!
I have Nate has such good taste.
Would you like a sign of your very own? Head on over to Onion Grove Mercantile and check out Jen’s other lovely paintings. Jen is a local Iowa girl so that automatically won her points in my book but her paintings definitely speak for themselves. Very unique..and awesome. She does custom orders (Think your very own state….shipped to you if you aren’t lucky enough to live in Iowa.). I wanted my sign in greens and that was no problem!
Anyone else buy their own birthday gifts? What’s the favorite thing you purchased yourself for your birthday?
***I was in no way compensated for this post. I bet Jen is laughing hysterically now. I just love my precious sign so much that I had to share!***
I love it! It fits perfectly into its spot :-) I'm such a sucker for big big art with simple and clean lines! Oh I wish I knew someone locally who does that. By the way, I tuned my boyfriend in on making the rainbow cake for my birthday this year. Yay!
ReplyDeleteI love it! That Nate really can pick 'em!
ReplyDeleteso cute! i love the large scale of it!
ReplyDeleteI buy myself scrapbooking stuff for my birthday...then show him what he got me.... :)
ReplyDeleteAwww, what a sweet painting.
ReplyDeleteI don't get myself gifts, but I do celebrate the entire month! :)
Good job, Nate! ;)
ReplyDeleteFor my 21st birthday, I bought myself my fist DSLR, The Nikon D5000. I'm awesome at giving myself presents. LOL!
That painting is awesome & very unique. Off to check her out.
Love that print! It's very charming. I totally buy my own birthday presents (or at the very least, give Joe a detailed list of what I would like).
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! It came out so perfect. I absolutely love it. Nicely done, Nate! ; )
ReplyDeleteThat is SOO cute!! I love the size and scale too. That takes it over-the-top for me.
ReplyDeleteI buy my own bday presents too...and Christmas. Oh yea, we've got the market cornered on romance. ;)
This looks so nice in your hall. Love the colors too.
ReplyDeleteNate has great taste ;) I buy myself all my presents it seems. I did a great job for my MBA graduation and Christmas - I surprised myself with a Silhouette!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Good work, Nate :-)
ReplyDeleteI like! Very much! That Nate sure does have good taste. ;)
ReplyDeleteLooks nice. I almost always get myself a birthday present- both of my dogs were birthday presents to myself (two years apart) and this year, I got myself a new camera. It's just part of the awesomeness of birthdays.
ReplyDeleteYou know I'm all for artwork! Sweet find :) Good job Michelle, er, I mean Nate ;)
ReplyDeleteI love that! How much was it? It would look great in my kitchen! ;)
ReplyDeleteI always end up buying myself a b-day gift, and Christmas gifts, too! I forget what I got myself this year. Isn't that pathetic since it was just last week? Usually I buy own gifts a few weeks in advance though, becuase I'm considerate like that.
ReplyDeleteNate needs to give Brad some gift-buying tips. I love it, and I want one. I just don't know where I would put the heart since we grew up in different parts of the state, and we don't have a real connection to where we live now. Ugh, first world problems.
ReplyDeleteJen is the flippin' best.
ReplyDeleteAnd, I prefer to buy my own gifts. It just makes life simpler because Ryan's a terrible gift giver. Love him, but it's true. And we won't even get into the Anniversary debacle of 2002. It's the things the horror movies are made of.
Big art is my favorite, so your sign is totally awesome! I am annoyingly picky and usually pick out my own gifts and then Rick "buys them for me." I figure the money all comes from the same place, anyway...so what's the difference?
ReplyDeleteI love love LOVE that sign, and Nate's amazing taste. He should have a blog where he talks about home stuff. Happy birthday! (Is it cool if I just say that in every comment for the next month? I'm an advocate of birthdays lasting for a month.)
ReplyDeleteI also celebrate my birthday for the entire month and think it is weird that most people don't. Cheers to you for selecting such an awesome gift from Nate :)
ReplyDeleteSo you're from or currently live in Iowa? I once went to a Maid-Rite in Cedar Falls. Best. Hashbrowns. Ever.
