When did it become May? Oh, 3 days ago. Got it. I’m having trouble returning to normal life after vacation. I still think it’s the middle of April.
A few random thoughts before I recap the month of April.
We are having a garage sale on Saturday. I hate having garage sales. But I do love purging junk. I’ve become a hoarder. It’s not my fault. It’s hereditary. I totally went nuts yesterday though and gathered things to sell left and right. It’s supposed to be cold and rainy on Saturday. Work with me, Iowa. I need to rid my life of this excess. Or something.
I have kicked Ike out of our bedroom for the next week. I felt fantastic in Florida. I come home and my sinuses and lungs are instantly inflamed. My allergy testing came back that I am allergic to dust mites and dogs. I am in denial about the dog thing. Wire Fox Terriers are supposedly hypoallergenic. But it doesn’t always work that way. We’ve also had him for 6 1/2 years and my problems started about a year ago. But people can develop allergies at any time. My allergist recommended that he not sleep in our room (beings we spend a good majority of our lives sleeping). He is ALWAYS in our room. I think it’s actually harder on me than him. We’ll see. Part of me hopes that I still feel like crap after a week so we can go back to normal and have our naps together. If it’s not the dog, then we have larger issues to tackle. Like carpet. But new hardwood floors aren’t all bad, right?
Nate and I are on a vacation craptastic food detox. We have done super well at only eating things made from scratch. I think the only “processed” food that ate this week was a small bun, a whole wheat English muffin and a little flour. I even ate vegetables. Weird. Any great healthy recipes for me?
And now, April in review. Maybe you missed something. Maybe you want to re-read something. Maybe you’re new (Welcome!). Maybe you don’t care.
Poor Ike! I'm telling you, new hard wood floors and a Roomba vacuum make a huge difference when you have allergies ;)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
My favorite are those tea towels. Super cute! xo Kristin
ReplyDeleteIKE. You gotta be hypoallergernic, dude. I hope you feel better, but I hope it's not because of Ike. I don't think I would be able to kick our dogs back out of our bedroom....but probably because Beemer would bark and whine and cry all night. He's such a gem.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the garage sale!!!!! Hope you sell lots of crap. I mean, valuable stuff.
Awww poor Ike! My sinuses/allergies have been awful this year, and I really didn't even have issues until I moved to VA. It sucks! Hope your garage sale goes well!!
ReplyDeleteOh no! My husband had a dog growing up and never had allergy problems, but now he can't be around our friends' dogs without having an allergy fit.
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way - allergic to mold and dogs (I feel like I can't breathe when I'm around a dog for too long). My in-laws have a wheaton (also hypoallergenic) but my allergist told me it's got nothing to do with their hair - it's the dander from their skin. :(
ReplyDeleteYou should invest in an air purifier. We got one for Christmas and it's been amazing!
Hope your allergies calm down! It's no fun feeling sick all the time : ( Good luck with your garage sale! I wanted to have one this weekend too but I have a feeling we'll get little traffic since our road is closed due to construction : ( boo!
ReplyDeletePoor Ike! We're trying to train our dog to at least sleep in a dog bed instead of in our bed... under the covers... between us. OYE. it is not going well.
ReplyDeleteIf you haven't already tried this, you could kill dust mites in your pillows by washing them and dry them in the clothes dryer. You can also vacuum your mattress (unless it's a foam one), flip it over, and vacuum the the other side. They make pillow covers and mattress covers that keep the dust mite debris contained. Another thing is to make sure you vacuum under your bed and keep any items stored there dust-free. Ask me how i know...
ReplyDeleteI've had to kick my dogs out of the bedroom a few times, when I'm super-sensitive as well. We've all been suffering with allergies this spring.
Thanks for the tips! We have purchased the mattress pad and pillow protectors. Kicking the dog out seems to be making the most difference. :(
DeleteI have lots of healthy recipes! "clean eating" chicken tortilla soup is my fave.
ReplyDeleteDid you use catablog for this post? I am using it to make over my recipe & project pages.
It's inlinkz. I LOVE it!
Deleteawe scout sleeps with us too..sometimes we kick him out when he is bed hogging or chasing too many rabbits in his dreams!
ReplyDeleteonlin casino game Reading this post reminds me of my old room mate! He always kept talking about this. I will forward this article to him. Pretty sure he will have a good read. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI certainly love dogs, especially fluffy ones. Having dog allergies is truly a pain and the worst feeling ever. I wish you could recover from it soon. By the way, I enjoyed viewing your blog posts. Those monster m n’ m cookies look tasteful to me. Thanks for sharing your recipe with the rest of us.
ReplyDeleteOh no. I hope you still feel crappy next week...well, no not really, but I am sure Ike misses his cuddle time ;)
