Dear Little Brother,
I apologize for today’s post. Yes, I do realize I should file it under the label “Lame It.” I appreciate your blog critique. I was, however, unable to put together our console table how-to because I was helping you celebrate your birthday in the land of slow internet.
Please enjoy the following photos from our shopping trip. I will refrain from posting the photo of you riding a saddle in a steak house. That is love.
Sincerely,
Your Sister
My brother is now my blog reviewer. He informs when me when posts are lame or when I’m selling my blog’s soul. He’s super helpful. (And Single. Have I mentioned that?)
We enjoyed a morning of junk/antique shopping this week-end. His choice. I think our love of junk may be the only thing that we actually agree on.
Here are some photos for you all of one of my newest favorite stores. I want to move in.
I would have made the following stainless steel table mine if it wasn’t too large for our dining room. I was kicked out for repeatedly petting the table. Something about scaring other customers.
This tub was magnificent. The cell phone photo is not.
The place was full of lockers in every color. I liked the orange. Must mean I’m wanting fall to arrive.
Old stools and chippy cabinets. Be still my heart.
There were maps everywhere. This store is pretty trendy which is surprising since it is in middle of nowhere Iowa. Iowa and trendy are generally not in the same sentence together…unless there is a “not” in there.
I loved this numbered set up. I think I need a second home to decorate with junk stuff….and pink stuff. I should run this by my accountant husband. I’m sure he’ll go for it.
This store is the Broad Street Market in Story City, Iowa. I think it’s pretty obvious that this post was in no way sponsored by them. I just want to move into their store. That is all.
Do you have a family member that likes to critique your blog? Are you a fan of junk shopping or is HomeGoods/TJMaxx more your style? What would you have taken home from the above photos?
I love the cubbies and the lockers...I wonder if there is a way for me to put that type of stuff in my house somewhere! Did you end up buying anything?!
ReplyDeleteAh - I love all the things you showed us! The thrift stores around here are just major fails, as in #fail (yes, so bad they need hashtags). We need to move.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, my sister reads my blog and will text me "what's wrong?" or "are you ok?" if she doesn't see a post.
I love how the "middle of nowhere" in IA was the next exit [for me] on I35.
ReplyDeletebahaha your brother. That note is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteHouse of pink junk: I'm feeling it.
I'll be your roomie! That place looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteLOL - little brothers. Mine would actually have to read mine to critique it. hmpf.
My great aunt is very not tech savvy, but her granddaughter helped her figure out how to get my blog via e-mail. She doesn't ever comment online (very not tech savvy) but she always tells my mom her 'reviews' and my mom passes them to me. Some reviews are probably as critical as your brothers, but they're generally entertaining ;-)
ReplyDeleteAmazing! Can I go junking with you?
ReplyDeletehahaha -- "...kicked out for petting the stainless table" !!!
ReplyDeleteDo you watch "American Pickers"? or it's offspring "Picked Off"? I love seeing the glorious junk they unearth in the most unlikely spots.
I would totally take that entire numbered cubbie thingy - complete with the old suitcases, half a windmill & lovely Thermos jug in the bottom right cubicle!
What an amazing store! May have to stop by on my next trip home to Minnesota....right after we eat at the McDonald's with the carousel horses
ReplyDeleteI also want a second home for stuff that I like but can't have in the new house. like fluffy purple ruffle bedspreads and glittery picture frames...
ReplyDeleteI like junking a lot, but I also am a tjmaxx sorta girl.
Ha, I saw the picture of your brother on instagram, he looked happy! Hope you guys had one of their margaritas. I too love junking, I don't know why, is not like they go with anything in my house. I guess that if I had to start again, I would probably incorporate some of those things. I did like the numbered cabinet, very cute.
ReplyDeleteI love junk! That store looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI do not have any critics (that actually tell me that my posts are lame...I am sure they are just too nice to tell me).
Because I am lazy I am just going to say it here: I LOVE that table you made. LOVE it.
Wow, that store looks wonderful!! I love that stainless steel table! UH-mazing! :)
ReplyDeleteOh man! That table, the maps! I want it alllll!
ReplyDeleteNo one in my family reads my blog, but if they did I shutter to think of the crap I'd get for it! :p
I like almost each & every item in those images! :D
ReplyDeleteIn my family both my parents & both my brothers think they have to critique my entries. Even though my blog is only a semi-serious thing to me. :S
What? No saddle picture? That was sure to get him at least 2 phone numbers. I love the numbered piece.
ReplyDeleteMy older brother used to make fun of my blog... until he realized that I'm awesome. Brothers can be dumb.
That is an awesome store!
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous. You can go junking with your brother! My brother and I have nothing in common except our parents and music. He is a negative, old grumpy grump. I'm not being mean, I tell him this all the time. Soon he will be yelling at kids to get off the lawn and waving his cane around despite the fact that he is only 35. :)
That's a pretty decent junk shop! I've been to many junk shops that actually try to sell, well, junk.
ReplyDeleteHow did you leave without buying anything?
UMMMMM...i am pretty sure my hubs is thanking god that this store is not near us or i would be ALL over that. I would have been on the phone renting a U-Haul truck faster than you can blink to haul that stainless steel table home with me. *Sigh* can you please come out here and go thrift/junking with me??
ReplyDeletei love it all! i think i would have taken home a map for the playroom!
ReplyDeleteOk, so blogger road trip 20?? - I'm dumpster diving w/ Erin in NY and antiquing w you and Ike in Iowa. Spots are still available if anyone else is interested.
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of those items would look great in your home if Nate will let you bring them home.
ReplyDeleteWHY does that place need to be so far away? It looks purrfect.
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat store! I want those maps!
ReplyDeleteWHY is there nothing like this near me?! I love EVERYTHING in those photos.
ReplyDeleteWhere in the world is this store? Looks awesome. I love the cubbies and the lockers. And that table is pretty sweet.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fine post to me. Totally drooling. Love these shops!
