Remember my chalkboard fail? How could you forget something so important?
Turns out the answer to my chalkboard woes was staring me down every time I reached for the Robins Eggs. (Those malted milk candies are going to take me down.)
What if I painted the insides of the pantry doors with chalkboard paint?
Nate is never home and I can no longer trust Ryan Gosling. I decided to go to my next best source.
If Ike approves then we are good to go.
I taped off the edges of the panels and started painting. Quickest project ever. And meltdown free. Even better.
I’m still waiting for the chalkboard paint to fully dry. The manufacturer recommends waiting 3 days before conditioning. I’m trying to follow directions. Key word: trying. I have some additional plans with these doors that I will share soon. Once the paint fully dries. Hurry up already.
I like this project because the paint is like a hidden surprise when you open the pantry but having it behind closed doors keeps the kitchen neat and tidy.
Any solutions smacking you in the face every time you reach for an Easter treat? Who’s happy to know Ike is a more reliable source than Ryan Gosling?

Ha ha ha! As soon as I saw "hey girl . . . " I thought of all the Ryan Gosling photos floating around! Your Ike photo and quote made me laugh!
ReplyDeleteYou already had a great pantry space, and the double door chalkboards make it look awesome! Very jealous :)
I definitely recommend waiting it out to season them because it will be worth the wait in the long run. Make sure you post a follow-up once the writing's on the door(s)!

I have a feeling Ike is much more reliable than Ryan Gosling. I think it has to do with the loyalty factor. :)
ReplyDeleteThose doors look amazing! Although we have no candy in the house because of Lent (I know, quite the travesty), I've been seeing projects popping up everywhere. It's even been happening in my dreams. I am a DIY addict. :)
I love the fact that you have Lucky Charms in there, haha.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking about doing an entire post on healthy eating. ;)
DeleteOh my gosh, I love this! And I love the E-A-T over your pantry doors! I just made E-A-T letters for my kitchen!
ReplyDeletehahah, thank you for the laugh with Ike's picture. Does nate know about the chalkboard paint in the pantry yet? I think it was an awesome idea. :)
ReplyDeleteHahaha, Ike! He's a very trusty source. Glad you listened to him because I love the result. Brilliant! Seriously, how do you think of this stuff?? I'm impressed.
ReplyDeleteLove that Ike is more reliable than Gosling. You should make sure to Pin his picture, and make him the new Pinterest sensation.
ReplyDeletei remember the fail.... though i didn't think it was that bad! ;)
ReplyDeletethese are PERFECTION though and will make us all soon forget the failure.
I just LOVE the "Hey Girl" quotes...Ike is way better than Ryan Gosling!
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with your chalk board doors. Total awesome idea!!
Looks great! I wish I had pantry doors to add chalkboard paint to.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, I would always to defer to Ike. ;0)
ReplyDeleteThat looks really good on the inside! I'd definitely say Ike has better ideas!
ReplyDeleteThat picture of Ike had me laughing out loud!!!
ReplyDeleteSo cute, Ike is just as cute as Ryan gosling! Ummm but in a different kinda way, obv.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of having it on the inside, also great because if you would have screwed up it would have been easy to hide lol. That's just the way I think!
Uh, hello...brilliance! Do you loan Ike out for advice-giving? I've got a few projects that need his nimble eye.
ReplyDeleteHa! I love Ike's Ryan Gosling impersonation. Great idea with the chalkboard paint. Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteI think Ike "hey girl" photos are going to be the new thing. I sure hope so! Love the doors :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat solution, Ike. I like that you're a Jif fan... and that you have more than one container.
ReplyDeleteLove it! It might even be practical. When my kitchen is finally done I just may steal this idea. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteThat Ike pic made me laugh out loud! Looks awesome. Great idea!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great. What a great idea on doing the inside doors! Love it.
ReplyDelete1) The doors look amazing (I love your pantry, btw). I can't wait until you can write on them and be all snazzy with it.
ReplyDelete2) As much as I love Ryan Gosling being all "Hey Girl..." with me, I am enjoying Ike. You should make more of these. :)
I love how they look! What a fun place to do that. And that Ike is such a character!

I love the idea of doing that inside of the pantry door.. that would be so helpful in our house especially for the grocery list that I hate to have placed with magnets on my decor-free refrigerator. It would also be great for our calendar and other things as well.. KUDOS Ike! LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm seriously DYING with that Ike picture. Death by hilarity. I think it looks great.
ReplyDeleteMy one and only chalkboard tip - make sure to "season" it with a layer of white chalk. I didn't do that and I regret it.
Brilliant - Ike is always right! Great job, you two! LOL Thanks for sharing... enjoy your evening. Jalon
ReplyDeleteI have this theory...when Pinterest goes the way of Napster, Ryan Gosling will play the part of Metallic. Suing housewives left and right.
ReplyDeleteExcellent use of the doors...good luck waiting for them to cure :)
That looks UHmazing. I like how the black on the inside of the doors really ties in the EAT letters.
ReplyDeleteAnd let's talk about Ryan Gosling. Man he is a fine piece of man candy. Ike is such a doll, and so very wise.
Ooooooh, this is good. Real good.
ReplyDeleteI may have to borrow Ike. Harry and Georgia are no good at important decisions like this.
oooooOoOOoO! i love it! the panels kind of "frame" the chalkboards. i don't know how you can stand to wait. maybe i better NOT attempt this as i am no good at waiting...
ReplyDeleteLove what you have done here. I hope you will be using the boards - such a fun way to keep track of pantry items/shopping lists!
ReplyDeleteSo fun! I love it! My cats are no help with decisions unless it involves their food, their tummy being scratched, or their desire to maul the birds outside the window. None of which are ever really useful when making house decisions. You have a keeper there in that pooch. ;)
ReplyDeleteI can't stop eating Cadbury mini eggs!!! You pantry looks like it should be in a magazine. For real. Like, I'm. Pinning it. Ryan is just fun to look at. Dogs always give better advice. Rocco is like a miniature Buddha.
ReplyDeleteThat Ike is so dreamy. This is a fabulous solution and now I want to paint the inside of all my kitchen cabinets with chalkboard paint. ALL of them.
ReplyDeleteOooh that Ike.
ReplyDeleteOkay, so I chalkboard painted our fridge out in the garage and it's holding up great, but I'm always curious about chalkboard INSIDE. Does it great a bunch of dust on the floor? Report back in a few weeks. Kthxbai.
That is great! I wish I had cabinets suitable for chalkboard paint, because it just looks so convenient to have a spot to make lists when you're out of something.
ReplyDeleteI love that all you have to do is shut the doors and tadaa it's back to normal! Such a neat little surprise to paint it on the inside of your doors.
ReplyDeleteThis made me giggle and feel jealous all at the same time. What a brilliant idea!
ReplyDeletePantry is gorg, but the stairs really have me swooning!
