February Old Lady Quilt Square

Do you remember when I decided to join the block a month project over at In Color Order? (If not, you can read about it here.) Do you remember how I told you all that a block a month was pretty low pressure and I could totally do it?  Well, I just finished February’s square…

Good thing it’s not almost April.

Again, the block isn’t perfect but it makes me happy.  I had to reteach myself how to sew the half squares beings it had been about 2 months since I completed the first square.  I should probably get to working on March’s before I forget…again!

February’s square looks mighty cute with January’s.

There’s still time for you to join in!  Peer pressure.  Head on over to Involving Color to catch up on the fun.  You can seriously do this.  Trust me.  You might need a seam ripper.  And hopefully you haven’t recently given up on swearing.  But other than that, you are good to go!

Tell me I’m not alone in having to reteach myself things if it’s been over 2 days.  Anyone else working on an old lady craft?

  1. Cute! I made my first quilt in January (http://annabelvita.com/my-first-quilt) but want to make something more complicated now. I think I could handle a block a month!

  2. I am always working on an old lady craft. I cast on a shawl last night. A Shawl...super old lady.

  3. Very cute! No old lady craft for me right now. Although this challenge looks pretty fun!

  4. I know you told me that I should join this project (after I posted my finished quilt) but it seems so intimidating! How do you cut the triangle pieces? Do you just use scissor or one of those roller-cutter-things?

  5. I'm SO IMPRESSED that you're making quilt squares. I think my husband would prefer I stay away from such activities for my mental health. Or his health. One of the two. Remember? I got frustrated punching out paper elephants because it was taking too long. Martha Stewart award, right here.

  6. Look at you! Those are fantastic! So will these quilt blocks all end up in one 12-block quilt? Or are they just for practice? Either way, I love them!

  7. Sewing, knitting, crocheting...all beyond me. I stand in awe.

  9. Lookin' good, granny. Your quilt will look awesome when you get finished.

Oh, and I clicked on the link and it took me to a blog called "In Color Order". Just thought I'd let you know. Unless this is some kind of quiz and the first person to notice gets a prize.

  12. Aww your squares are so cute. I would love to learn how to knit but I don't have anyone to teach me so I just stick to sewing.

  13. "It isn't an old lady craft because we use new things like sewing machines"--I'm gonna keep telling myself that...Anyway, glad to see that I am not the only one behind. Of course, maybe I am since I haven't done February yet and now you are in March...I guess I could still get caught up tomorrow if I wasn't going out of town today.

  16. If it makes you feel better I've been working on the same quilt since high school. It's going on 10 years working on the same quilt. When is it acceptable to throw the towel in, accept defeat and throw it out??
