1. I turn 30 on Sunday. Thirty. That hurts. I know it really doesn’t matter but I like to worry about things that I have no control over. It’s my thing.
2. The lovely sisters over at Paisley Print Shoes shared some fun jewelry storage ideas…including mine. Head on over and check that out post here! I enjoy their blog so much. Two sisters with different tastes coming together to write a blog. I should start one with my brother. Oh, that’d be a good one.
3. I have the day off. Our birthday is a holiday at my place of employment. I really do like my job. Especially when I have the day off. Ike loves days off too.
4. I want to make myself a rainbow birthday cake with sprinkles. Is that weird for a 30 year old? Don’t answer that.

5. I am obsessed with this tote. Obsessed. Someone find me a less expensive alternative…that looks just like it.

6. Nate and I are going to Costa Rica in a couple of months. I want to go now. I'm a very patient person in my old age. Have you been to Costa Rica? If so, give me the scoop! I can’t tell if I’m more excited to see the rainforests, black volcanic sand beaches, or monkeys. Who am I kidding? It’s the monkeys.

7. Happy Week-end!
What are your very important topics this Friday? Trips. Want list. Recipes. Monkeys. Tell me all about it.
Happy early birthday! Enjoy a day of cuddling with Ike :) AND I have been to Costa Rica. Such a pretty country and the people are incredibly friendly. Make sure you go ziplining!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! Go ahead and make yourself that rainbow cake... and eat it too. Costa Rica sounds amazing. Are you going to zip line through the jungle? I would need a stiff drink (or two) before riding a zip line. Enjoy your day off!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY! I love that you get a holiday for your birthday. More places should be like that! And you should most definitely make yourself a rainbow cake with sprinkles. Hello! You only turn 30 once and it should be celebrated with style.
ReplyDeleteAnd I want to go to Costa Rica. If Nate is too busy or whatever, I'm definitely available.
HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY!!! you don't look a day over 25 :). i wish i got a birthday holiday!
ReplyDeleterainbow cakes are totally appropriate for 30 year olds...also i am going to steal that jewelery storage idea. genius!
costa rica....SO exciting!!! I can't wait to see pics from your trip. our amazing vacay is not until September...womp-womp. far, far away.
Happy Early Birthday! You definitely DO NOT look like you're turning 30. My birthday is coming up too, on the 10th.
ReplyDeleteCosta Rica will be exciting! My parents just went there and played with the monkeys, they loved it!
Enjoy your day off and make that cake! :)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY WEEKEND!! Happy birthday MONTH! (you get to celebrate all month, you know!) Can you email us your address? paisleyprintshoes@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteFor the record, I hated turning 30, so I feel you.
You should make the rainbow cake and blog about it. I always wonder how much food coloring you actually have to use to make those.
COSTA RICA is SUPER exciting!! Never been, so I can't wait to hear about it.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and as if my previous comment wasn't long enough, I forgot to say thanks for the link love!

happy birthday!!! you must think i am SO old- i am 33. :)
ReplyDeletean chris and i went to CR for our one year anniversary... it was the most amazing and most romantic trip we ever took. i cried the day we left because i loved it sosososomuch!
if you stay around manuel antonio at all you NEED to eat at karola's. it was our favorite place for sure. we did the hot springs, arenal, canyon repelling, walking in manuel antonio, the beach.... i found tons of shells. i got up early most mornings and walked alone because i just wanted to soak it all in it was SO beautiful.
Happy birthday! I feel your "pain" - I'll be 30 this May. And I love the jewellery display idea. I have blogged on that as well. I think displaying beautiful pieces is a design statement everyone should do!
ReplyDeleteI turn 30 in about 2 weeks, March 15th. Dreading it. Why do we hate turning these milestones so much? I mean I really loved my 20s, but it had its' crappy moments too. I think it just reminds me that I am getting older....
ReplyDeleteSo happy early birthday, snuggle up with Ike and eat all the rainbow cake your heart desires!
Happy Birthday! I am turning 30 this year too and now I am tempted to make myself a rainbow cake with sprinkles!
ReplyDeleteHey, its not even my birthday and I want to make myself a rainbow sprinkle cake, so I think you're TOTALLY entitled to make one for yourself. Mostly because they look awesome. And it's your birthday.
ReplyDeleteHappy early birthday! I hope you have a wonderful and relaxing day and eat lots of rainbow birthday cake (seriously, I wouldn't judge if you ate an entire cake on your birthday, or ever for that matter). I think a rainbow cake would be fun!
ReplyDeleteHappy almost birthday! I just recently had a heated discussion with my husband about how old we were (we're born the same year). I was CONVINCED we were a year younger than we actually were. So convinced that I had to find an age calculator on the internet only to prove me wrong, sad face.
ReplyDeleteI'd be a little disappointed in you if the monkeys weren't at the top of your list. Please sneak one home and send it to me! I've only been to Costa Rica on a cruise, come to think of it, I think I was sick and didn't get off the ship that day. Hmmmm, maybe an excuse to go in the future!
Enjoy your birthday weekend! I'm jealous!
Happy birthday and birthday month!! I love my birthday but you're totally entitled to hate turning 30 and eat an entire rainbow cake because of it. You could just tell everyone Ike ate it so that's why you can't share it. :) hope you're day is amazing! And thanks a mil for the link love!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to you!!! I turn 31 this month, and also enjoy worrying about things that don't matter and I can't control. Also, I love your dog and just pinned that bag.
ReplyDeletehappy birthday! Im with you on the worrying about stuff I can't control. I think you are either born with that defective gene or not.
ReplyDeleteI took a really short trip to Costa Rica and blogged about it but I didn't go all over so Im hardly an expert. Have a great time.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!! I hope you're enjoying your day off! :) And I say go for the rainbow cake! You only turn 30 once! ;)
ReplyDeleteLove your random posts! Welcome to your 30s. I hit it a few years back. That was one birthday I was not too excited about. haha. The others never phased me. Happy birthday and have a great trip! That place looks yummy.
ReplyDeleteHappy Early Birthday! I will probably still want rainbow cake when I turn 75, though it might be more like rainbow pudding by then ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!!!! I love that Ike pic. He looks so cozy. Oooh Costa Rica. I've never been, but would love to go. I think you should make that rainbow cake. It's so cheerful and may make turning 30 less painful.
ReplyDeleteHappy early birthday, and I think the rainbow cake is an awesome idea!!! Do it!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy early birthday!!! Have an amazing time in Costa Rica, even though its a couple months out still. Thats where J and I are thinking for our honeymoon, so ya gotta give the scoop!! Enjoy your day off!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Michelle! Hope 30 is your best year yet :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Michelle!!! 30 is the new 20!!! Enjoy celebrating this weekend.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!! Just imagine all the new wisdom you'll have when you wake up on Sunday morning. If you ever get too old for sprinkle cake, then you're dead. That's my theory.
ReplyDeleteI feel ya sistah. I'm 29 an don't have too much longer til I'm in the 30 club... Make the cake! I need to see it and live vicariously though you. I spy a headband in that pic :) Costa Rica was in our top 3 honeymoon choices. You are one lucky lady!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have an awesome birthday! I am excited for you about your trip! Take tons of pictures and enjoy every second of it! LOTS OF EXCLAMATION POINTS! P.S. I love your deviled egg jewelry holder. :)
ReplyDeleteMy Birthday is Sunday too! We went to Costa Rica for our honeymoon in October. It was amazing. We stayed in Manuel Antonio and Arenal. The Nayara resort in Arenal is awesome. There are so many adventurous things to do. We went ziplining, kayaking, hiking, and waterfall repelling. All excellent. Eat lots of fantastic fruit too!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope you have a wonderfully enjoyable weekend - Jalon
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!! How wonderful that you get the day off!! I hope Nate is making you something yummy, or taking you out =) Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteHappy early birthday my dear! I hope you enjoy your day off!
ReplyDeleteMy very important topics this morning are; tornados & bring your dog to work day.
I'm worried about tornados because A. My husband was sent to Harrisburg, Il for work to deal with the damage and more storms are heading their way. And B. I had to bring scout to work since we are traveling north right after. And he is a handful!
Happy happy birthday!!I love every single one of those things. I hit 31 last month and want one so I say you can still have a rainbow sprinkle cake too! Have a great weekend celebrating!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! You should make a cake and eat it, too! It's your birthday, anything goes. Did you see Cam celebrating his 40th on Modern Family this week? Case in point :) Anyway, enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHappy, happy, happy, happy birthday Michelle!!! It's been a very long time since I was 30 but I think you're gonna rock it:) Have a great weekend celebrating.
ReplyDeleteHi Michelle, I don't think I've ever posted a comment even though I've been reading your blog forever (and loving every post!)... But then you mentioned Costa Rica and I just have to tell you how amazing Costa Rica is. You are going to LOVE it! My husband and I went in August 2010 for our honeymoon and had the best time. We toured three different regions - high up in the mountains, the Arenal Volcano, and then the coast. Arenal was our favorite place. The volcano is simply incredible. We stayed at The Springs, which was the nicest and friendliest hotel I've ever visited. The hot volcano spring water is like a piece of heaven. Be sure to go waterfall rappelling if you're willing to be adventurous - it's even more fun and thrilling than zip lining (which was almost a little boring in comparison). Please feel free to send me an email if you want any info on where we went/what to do. American Express Travel planned our entire trip and did a great job. P.S. Roads can be treacherous - save yourselves some stress and hire drivers to take you place to place rather than attempt to drive yourselves. P.P.S. Doka Estate Coffee is fantastic, especially the peabody and espresso blends. Oh, I could go on and on about how much I loved that trip, I can't wait to go back (hopefully soon!). Have a great trip!!
ReplyDeleteOne more thing...for now :) .... the monkeys are awesome. And petty thieves! The howler monkeys sound like volcanic eruptions and the cute capuchin monkeys will walk right up to you and steal from you - and any attempt to get back your property is futile because little monkey thief calls his monkey friends and you won't stand a chance.
DeleteThanks for the tips!!
DeleteHappy almost birthday, you old lady! Go knit something, now. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Early Birthday (I spent longer than I care to admit wondering if it was proper to capitalize "early." I just went w it.)
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy your weekend! I say make that fun cake, cuddle w/ Ike, make Nate buy you that tote filled with fun vacation goodies. 30 is just around the corner for me too. Show us how it's done right. ;) No fear.
I realize I already left a comment but I had to come back and tell you that I tagged you in a game that I'm posting tomorrow AND of course to wish you a happy birthday:)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! Make and Eat that cake.
ReplyDeletehappy birthday! (You are so young...) Hope you enjoyed your rainbow cake, I am yet to learn how to make one of those .
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for the birthday wishes!! 30 is surprisingly pretty awesome!
ReplyDeleteJust found you blog and love it! The hubs and I were in Costa Rica back in December and we LOVED IT!!! Seriously can't wait to go back! We stayed at the Riu Guanacaste (not sure it that is where you will be staying but I saw the picture!) and it was wonderful. That hotel is huge compared to some of the other ones in the area. There is nature all around you. One day there was a group of monkies just outside of hotel balcony! I recommend keeping your camera with you at all times because natures/animals/views are all around you at all times of the day! At night if you venture off to the beach you may even see sea turtles (we did and it was amazing) we even saw babies making their way into the ocean early the next morning! We did 3 excursions while we were there. It was nice to be able to leave the hotel and see more of the country and the culture. I hope you have a blast! I posted a few pictures on my blog if you want to take a look! Can't wait to hear about your trip!!
