Ice Pack + Dog = Bad Idea

Today I would like to share with you how we spent part of our Super Bowl Sunday.

Did we attend a super rowdy party? Nope.

Am I going to share with you the amazing recipe we used to make mini-corn dogs?  Nope. (But you can find it here.)

I am going to tell you a story about how this cute face attacked an ice pack.

12 - 1(3)

I get annoyed when people are like “Yeah, my dog ate “X”.”  Seriously people, pick up your crap so your dog can’t eat it.

Karma gets me once again.

I iced my old lady hip, threw the ice pack on the floor, and started to write a blog post.  All of which I had been doing almost nightly for the past two weeks.

On this particular Super Bowl night, Ike decided to shred the ice pack.  Why? Because he was bored.  He’s not a football fan.  (And don’t send me hate mail.  We had taken him for a 1 hour walk earlier in the afternoon.  He gets plenty of exercise.)  I caught him after I heard a giant rip.  I thought it was his toy rabbit.  It wasn’t.  I immediately jumped up and grabbed the pack. It was ripped open but the majority of the contents were still in the bag. He generally doesn’t eat things.  Just shreds…but you never know.

I panic.  Are ice packs bad for dogs?  I’m sure they are.  Why didn’t I think of this 5 minutes ago when I tossed in on the ground?  I start Googling “dog eats ice pack”.  Because Google always has the answers.  Answers that include “My dog dies.”  “Dog dies.”  “Dog must got to emergency room within 1 hour to avoid kidney failure.”  I break into hysterics.  Nate is trying to be calm but I could tell he was extremely worried.  I make him call the vet because there is no way they would be able to under my hysterics.  “Dog. *sob* Ice pack. *sob* Dying.”

The vet takes almost 45 minutes to call back.  Usually they are very good but I guess they had trouble locating a vet that particular evening.  She recommends contacting Animal Poison Control.  She tells us that Animal Poison Control has the ingredients of most ice packs (which we could not find anywhere on the package or on-line).

We call Animal Poison Control.  I didn’t know such a place existed.  They inform us of the $65 fee.  I DON’T CARE.  GIVE ME ANSWERS. (The fee ended up being waved because we have Ike micro-chipped through Home Again.)  They looked up the ingredients in the ice pack.  Luckily this brand contained only a small amount of propylene glycol which in small doses is not toxic to dogs (versus older packs that may contain ethylene glycol which is very toxic).  They recommend giving Ike a half slice of bread to soak up any of the propylene glycol in the case that he did ingest some. (They would have been more concerned if he ingested most of the contents.) We were to watch for any signs of vomiting or “drunkenness.”  Luckily he did not experience anything that we could tell.

He was humping my leg while Nate was on the phone with poison control.  I fed him bread (which he loved because he very rarely gets human food).  Played with him.  Babied him.  Let him sleep in bed and kick me throughout the night. I also vowed never to leave an ice pack out…and spread the word so no one else does a dumb, dumb thing like I did.

What’s the worse thing your dog has eaten?

  2. Oh Ike! I'm glad he is okay. You reacted the same way I would have.

Thankfully, my three have been relatively easy on the destroying and eating front. Our middle one, Maggie, was a puppy around Christmas one year. I was use to my oldest's non-doggy ways and wrapped all the presents for our doggy friends under the tree. Tennis balls, treat bags full of yummy treats. squeaky toys. Our oldest would have never touched them so I forgot that Maggie was a puppy. I came home from work to a very, very happy puppy with a collection of toys on the couch, a full tummy, and no more wrapped gifts. All I could do was laugh because she was so proud of her accomplishments.

  3. Glad he's alright! What a scare!!

I remember a similar story from when I was little and we had a dog. She wouldn't shred things but eat everything humanly edible within her reach (which would expand to miraculous length if she really really wanted to). One evening in December, my mom made cookie dough for her class to make cookies the next day. She had an important appointment later in the evening and the stores were already closed. So she made roughly 4 pounds of dough and put it on the table in the garden to cool. When she went back to get it short before having to leave, there was nothing on the table. Not one crumble. She thought she's misplaced the dough somewhere (happened before... she once spread her master thesis all over the highway as she forgot she had put it on her car's roof), but it was nowhere to be found. There was neither time nor ingredients to make a second round, so she got more and more hectic. While screening the kitchen for the dough, our dog came in and looked up to her really, really embarrassed and apologetic. Then the dog let out a huge burp. It was like a signed confession ;-) The dog had eaten 4 pounds of raw cookie dough and spent the next day vomiting all over the house. Nice ;-)

  5. So thankful Ike is alive and well!

My lab has eaten a lot of things. Really... what hasn't he eaten? Window sill, leather wallet (complete with cash, credit cards and driver's license), leather work boot (everything but the steel toe), my son's glasses, a bottle of baseball glove oil. And don't go waving your finger at me... all items were on the kitchen cabinet or the dining room table (except the window sill - it was attached to the window). Not only was Buddy a thief and eater when he was a puppy, he was also a counter surfer - quite the jump on our pooch. I too am familiar with the Animal Poision Control - also a Home Again customer, so no charge. He's 4 now, and aside from the random stuffed animal one of my kids offers up for sacrifice (i.e. leaves their door open), he hasn't eaten anything major in a couple years.

  6. oh so glad he is ok!!!! hmm.... my dogs have gotten into all sorts of things.... one day i came home and they figured out how to open a cabinet- the trash cabinet... the trash was everywhere and jake even had egg yolk on his nose. like i wouldn't know he did it with that evidence! another time i had chicken thawing on the counter and came home to an empty chicken package on the floor... yeah. jake is prettty stealthy when it comes to something he wants to eat. gross. i remember hoping the raw chicken wouldn't make him sick! ugh!

  7. I think Ike was set up. There is no way that sweet face would engage in such behavior.

  8. Glad he's OK. But like I said, you should probably stop buying beef scented ice packs.

When Jack was a puppy he bit at my ear and my earring fell off. I thought he ate it so I start freaking out because I thought it could perforate his little puppy intestines or something. So I call the vet while I continue to search for the earring. Yep, it was in my bra.

  9. I'm so glad Ike is OK. Bauer doesn't really eat much besides socks and sticks. When he was little he was constantly trying to eat paper but other than that we haven't had many problems. He did get a stick caught halfway down his throat and wedged into his gums a few weeks ago. Thankfully he could still breath. He was trying to throw it up but was still in really good spirits and obedient while this was all happening. We couldn't get it out ourselves and we didn't want to do any damage so we rushed him to the vet. They got it out in two seconds. He got a treat and was happier than could be. Funny eh? We're freaking out and he's cool as a cucumber!

  10. An entire chocolate cake, raw chicken, a platterful of pancakes, a whole stick of butter (multiple times), her own poop...I could go on.

All these things were sitting on the counter. Well, except the poop, obviously. I was FREAKED about the chocolate cake, but nothing happened. I gave her hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting (didn't work), and activated charcoal which is supposed to bind to the toxins in chocolate so they can't be absorbed into the bloodstream. She acted totally normal the whole time, while I was running around like a madwoman. :P

  11. My pups are pretty good at not eatting things they shouldn't in the house. Outside is another matter. Our neighbors have a Ginko tree that drops little, foul smelling berries (for lack of a better term) My dogs LOVE to roll in the ones that fall into our yard. Then they eat them, which makes them sick later. So we get stuck with smelly, vomiting dogs. Must rake yard more often.

  12. That's scary. The worst mine's eaten was drywall in the kitchen. Apparently she was bored. Unfortunately a lot of the stuff she likes I can't put away (floor trim, cabinets, wall). She's got issues. Glad Ike's okay!

  13. So glad he's okay! Things happen, don't sweat it!

  14. Jack is glad his cousin is okay.

I would have done the same thing. Okay, I have done about the same thing. We had ant traps out a couple of summers ago and I found Jack chewing on one. I flipped out and called the number on the package and they told me he would be fine. I think I was hyperventilating a little while on the phone. And you know about the Dove chocolate incident. Not pleasant.

  15. That's so scary! I'm glad he's okay. Our family dog age a bowl of Lindt chocolates. Wrappers included. When we saw what he had done my mom had to get him to swallow hydrogen peroxide (to make him throw up). Of course, he was fine and acted as if nothing had happened but we were all messes.

  16. Gosh! I would have been freaked too. So glad he's ok!

Our doggies are little nightmare terrors, and we do try to keep things picked up, but we have a kid and so things do land on the floor a lot. Plus, they are some weird breed of acrobat and climb on things to reach "no-no's". The most expensive being my camera!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm glad he's ok!

Bear was an absolute nightmare when he was a puppy. He ate SEVEN pairs of flip flops in one summer, an entire t-shirt, quite a few of my drumsticks, regular sticks, and a wadded up ball of cellophane he pulled out of the trash. Oh, and an entire box of Valentine's Day chocolates.

I think the worst was an entire bottle of Ibuprofen. I swear he's half goat.

  18. So scary. And FOR THE LOVE why do they always have to get into stuff on nights and weekends? Shalai scarfed down 3 slices of mocha cheesecake a couple years ago. We were pretty sure the combo would kill her, but after spending 1.5 hrs in the front yard trying to get her to puke it back up she was fine. Super hyper, but fine.

Glad Ike made it through just fine. You were probably more traumatized than him!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Gosh, so glad that Ike is OK, I love that fuzzy face. Our Jack Russell ate a door once. We were renting a cabin in the mountains and left her for an hour and a half while we went to dinner. Nessie had gotten closed in a room and in extreme anxiety, thinking that we were abandoning her in an unfamiliar place, she ate through a large portion of the door and door frame. Did I mention that this was not a pet friendly rental? She had never done anything destructive before.(or since) We 'fessed up' and paid $300.00 for a new door. Needless to say, we will NEVER leave her alone in a strange place again.

  20. Oh my, so glad to hear that Ike is ok. What a scare! My dogs eat everything they can get their little mouths on, right now, it's rabbit poo, because we have wild rabbits in our neighborhood, and they poop everywhere! I used to have a lab who ate his own poop by the way.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh my gosh! How terrifying! Thank God Ike is okay!

My old dog was once hanging out on our porch and tore into a closed (and set on a shelf) bag of charcoal. I came outside to find him in the middle of a shredded bag with charcoal everywhere. I called the vet who said that he was probably okay and to wait and see if he showed any symptoms - since we weren't entirely sure that he had actually eaten any of the charcoal. Within hours, everything was coming out of his back end completely black. I, of course, freaked out and rushed him to the Animal Hospital ER and was absolutely hysterical. About 5 hours later, they cleared him to go home. The final conclusion was that he probably only had one or two pieces of charcoal and it had come out of him but they gave him some medicine and told me to watch him closely for a couple of days. It just takes one time, but I will never leave anything like that out again!

  22. My dog, who has NEVER chewed on a thing (including all the various toys we've bought for him!), headbutted his way into our bedroom (door closed, but apparently not firmly enough), ripped a hole in a cloth bag of clean laundry, and ate 6 pairs of my underwear. Threw most of it up and passed the rest, but we still don't have an explanation for why he misbehaved like that. He's well-fed and exercised, so it's still a mystery.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Scary! So glad Ike is ok. Our black lab once ate 5 garlic cloves I was removing from homemade sauce. I thought he was going to die...or we were from the stench (oh yea, both ends). Our house smelled like an Italian grocery store for a week.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Our dogs will eat anything they can get their paws on whether you meticulously put things away or not. The other day they were bored, so they decided chewing on the power strip was a great idea. Not the first time they've done this either. Luckily I caught them right away, so no harm done. Our dog ate a bar of dark chocolate this weekend, and I had to call Animal Poison Control too, but refused to pay them $65 for them to tell me what I already knew - make her throw it up. My husband wasn't convinced, however, so we ended up paying $220 for the vet to do exactly that. I'm thinking from now on, he might actually listen to my advice.

  25. Oh man! So sorry for the doggie drams Michelle! That is the worst feeling. I'm so glad he happily humped & ate bread. Rocco sends Ike is love.

Rocco's nickname is "The Hoover" because he sucks up anyting that falls on the ground at warp speed before anyone has a chance to take it from him. Hmmm...weirdest thing he's eaten... I have a few strange things. Pencils (ouch!), bugs, Q-Tips (his fave), a plastic googly eye (that was fun to see a few hours later).

  26. I can totally relate to the freaking out about the dog eating something. I agree about the whole "pick your crap up so the dog doesn't eat it", but sometimes they just manage to get into stuff. Coop has swallowed a pearl earring (this was on the table...I don't know how he got it), eaten my Hobo wallet, a couple dog toy squeakies (no more of those) and other random items. Luckily, no damage yet but it is always scary. Glad Ike is okay!

  27. Our dog Gus once ate a huge piece of chocolate cake and a double white russian that somebody left on a table during a holiday party we were hosting! I felt horrible! But Gus ended up being completely fine!

  29. SO glad Ike is okay. My childhood dog once licked up the contents of a rum & coke that had been left on the ground at an outdoor party. Poor thing was drunk and then passed out:(

  32. Oh Ike. This post reminded me of the time when Colden ate roach poison when we were not home: http://www.littlethingsbringsmiles.com/2011/03/practice.html

I completely understand everything you felt..completely! And..I use an icepack for my headaches all the time and in my sleep, tossed it on the floor one night. I woke up to the sound of Colden licking the icepack..thankfully, he did not tear into the gel inside. Reading your post I will make sure before I fall asleep to place it somewhere high and away from where Colden can get it.

So glad Ike is okay :)

  33. Hello,

I read the post regarding your dog eating the ice packs and was reminded of all the calls we take daily, pertaining to fluffy eating an ice pack. We are proud to say that our ice packs contain food safe biodegradable gels that will not harm your pet. The most that may happen is a case of diarrhea. We have received so many calls that we even wrote a blog post about it on our company site as well. (You will find the link below) I'm glad Ike is OK despite all the frantic calls you had to make.

    Take care!

  34. A pre-natal vitamin! Ha! I called the Emergency Vet. too!!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. My dogs dig up little critters in the backyard, and I'm pretty sure they eat them. I'll see a doggie with her (or his) nose down in the dirt, a little paw action, then all the sudden the dog is chomping something and swallowing.

If either of them got hold of the gel ice pack, I would call poison control too. I've called my vet at odd hours for all kinds of (in my mind) emergencies. They're always so nice to me. My dogs ARE my kids!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm so happy the Ike-ster is okay. And you, too, mamma. That's scary.

  37. My daughter's weimeraner eats everything. She ate Hot Hands while her and her boyfriend were out for the evening. That's those little packs you break and stick in your pockets to keep your hands warm. They contain iron. That was a costly vet bill plus the cost of the biggest dog crate I've ever seen.

    ReplyDelete
  38. How scary! I'm glad the story has a happy ending. I have a cat who is so picky about what he eats that I can't imagine that he would care for an ice pack. I know dogs are a lot different. We had one growing up that died from eating rat poison. I didn't like that dog since he like to bite my horse in the rear, but my bro was torn up about it. :(

  39. Glad Ike is okay. Cope just eats our wood trim...

  40. I'm so glad he is okay!!! Whew... I was on the edge of my seat while reading this post. As you already know, Yui can get into things every once in a while too. You just never know what they are going to pull out of the trash or suddenly take interest in.

Hopefully this story will make you feel better:

My aunt was traveling with her dog and had No Doze (a pill that keeps you awake like caffeine) so she could focus on driving. The dog ate THE ENTIRE PACKAGE. Needless to say, he was completely bouncing off the walls for HOURS. She of course called the vet in hysterics. The dog ended up sleeping for two days straight after that, but was perfectly fine! I am so glad both this story and yours had a happy ending. Give Ike a kiss for everyone! :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oh no!! I would have reacted the same exact way. So glad he's okay!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh no! I'm so happy Ike is doing okay!! I never knew a poison control for animals existed, but I'm glad they were able to help you out.

By the way, I mentioned you in a blog post today about Lowe's Creative Ideas magazine. Check it out: http://familylovehome.blogspot.com/2012/02/check-out-this-magazine.html

  43. So glad your fuzzy kid is okay! The worst thing Bailey ever eats is so disgusting I can't even type it. She seems to think that the litter box is a cookie jar. (Don't look at me, I didn't raise her!)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Glad Ike is ok! My 110 lb Lab ate a 9x13 silicone baking pad. I was concerned but figured it would come out one way or another. I was right. It took about three weeks but eventually all the pieces showed up. I was really surprised that it took that long. It was torn so I threw it in the trash can in a shut cupboard under the sink. He learned to smack the cupboard with his nose just hard enough to pop it open. Needless to say the cupboard now has a locking device.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm glad he's ok, I would have been hysterical too.

My dog ate an entire plate of chicken wing bones. At least I'm pretty sure since she was standing over the plate and they were gone (and I never found them). She was ok, but it was the scariest night of my life (or at least in the top ten)

    ReplyDelete
  46. Awe Ike!!! I am so glad he is ok. I would've been flipping too, you would think ice packs would be more toxic than that, even if he had eaten the whole thing. But I'm glad he is fine!

Scout ate half a pack of my birth control pills before. I called the vet, she laughed, and said he would be fine...he never got pregs either!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Glad Ike is well and your $65 fee was waived, all in all, a good ending to your story! I'm sorry you get hate mail....you look like great dog owners and Ike always seems happy.
We once had a puppy and were potty training one of our kids at the same time. We used one of those potties that looks real but is mini size so they can go themselves. While taking care of one child, another went #2 in the kid potty. The puppy ate the poo from my child and then proceeded to go throw it up on our brand new carpeting in the basement. So gross. Our yellow once ate the charcoal briquettes from our grill and threw those up in our living room. Good times with dogs. Hey, at least our kids are all doing well.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oh my, I'm glad Ike was ok! There is nothing more scary than that. Our dogs have eaten so many things over the course of their lives with us, the emergency vet at one point gave us a frequent user discount...chocolate (make them throw up), antique family heirloom from mother in law (just waited for the chips to come out on that one), and other things I can't remember, but for which we've gone to the emergency vet and had them eat activated charcoal...the worst was when my hubby had surgery, and the night I brought him home, the younger dog had eaten all the fur & skin off the bottom 2/3 of her tail...

    ReplyDelete
  49. OMG. I totally understand your hysterics. I'd be the same way. I automatically assume my dogs have gotten into rat poison or something whenever they act funny. Good thing I don't have kids. I'd be a nervous wreck 24/7.
I'm SO glad Ike is okay. This will be a Superbowl Sunday that you'll never forget, that's for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Oh, poor Ike, glad he's fine! Our Golden Retriever is an absolute garbage disposal, she's eaten corners off walls, wooden door trim, pillow stuffings, soft toys, xmas tree lights she pulled off the fence, bark off trees and lots of landscaping stones! Luckily they never seem to make her sick but I wish she'd stop grabbing bad things when no one's watching! xo K

  51. My dog ate my sons retainer...that he had gotten two days earlier. It took her two weeks to throw it up. Just last week she found his new retainer and took off with it. We had to give her a treat for ransom. By the way, she has beautiful teeth!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I am so in love with your blog -- and Ike! I would have had the exact same reaction, even if my puppy had just bitten the ice pack once :) We have a mini poodle puppy (12 weeks) and a poodle/terrier mutt (2 years) that are definitely my babies. So glad Ike was okay!

    ReplyDelete
  53. First of all, so glad Ike is fine. Doggies are so sneaky--especially smart ones. Our poodle is so stealth! He actually silently grabbed a soda bottle from the coffee table without a single sound. Until he punctured the plastic and we heard a soda fizzy (tiny) explosion. Poodle came out from his hiding place completely dazed because his "toy" scared him and covered him in soda.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I'm glad Ike is ok!! I don't blame you for freaking out; I know I would in that situation.
Out of my dogs, Juno is the bad one who is always stealing food off the counter. She once ate an entire batch of dark chocolate chip cookies, with no ill effects thankfully. My sister's dog ate all the grease from a large deep fryer that we used to make hot wings hours earlier. That was a fun one to deal with for clean up. Nothing that really warranted trips/calls to the vet, though. No, mine cause frantic vet calls for other crazy things... -sigh-

    ReplyDelete
  55. oh man silly ike ice packs aren't for dogs!! ok good thing he is ok what a scary situation for you for sure. i would have freaked out. once my dog started chewing on this hair solution that my husband puts on his head each down to cut down on him going bald, i freeeakked! fortunately we called the company and it was natural stuff but he was already at the vet and they made him vomit which i didn't authorize!

    ReplyDelete
  56. My dog ate: Half a roll of an ace bandage. Thankfully her intestines did not get wound up bc the vet said she could die of strangled intestines - SAD. Had to watch the poop, unroll the partially digested ace bandage and measure it to be sure the right amount came out. Thankful she's alive!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Glad to hear that he is okay.

My puppy niece use to chew on everything, any stuff animal gone in hours, indestructible Kongs no they are actually destructible, but the oddest thing she "ate" was a table leg. She didn't really eat it just chewed it up really bad.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Worst thing eaten by my dog is probably a 3.5 lb box of chocolate chunk cookies. Clever dog decided to hide his vomit behind the couch cushions and under the covers in bed. Seriously, he pulled back the covers and covered it back up. It was really gross but I wish I had video of that!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I am laughing so hard at your description of your own emotions-that would have been me exactly! I have three miniature schauzers and each one of them has chewed on various things - a purse I left on the floor, a pair of my prescription glasses, the corner of a nightstand - but the funniest one was when I forgot I had stashed one of those big 24 roll packs of Charmin in the "dog's room." We only had one dog then, but by the time we got home, the entire thing (that had not yet been opened) was shredded. The dog was sitting in the middle of the pile, tail wagging, looking at us like "that'll teach ya to leave me alone."

    ReplyDelete
  60. OMG. This is such a horrifying story. Why am I laughing?! Am I evil? Or is it just that I've BEEN THERE. My dog ate an entire bag of M&Ms and I was sure she'd be gone forever. BTW, I love that Ike humping your leg did not qualify as "signs of drunkenness."

    ReplyDelete
  61. I'm about to make you feel like mom of the freaking year. Yesterday my husband came in the room and handed me a battery that had puncture marks all over it and was leaking...

  62. Chocolate is supposed to be bad for dogs, but our Jack Russell Terrier has eaten Valentine's chocolate, Easter chocolate, and chocolate from Kensington Palace. He never got sick from it, but don't dare leave a dirty kleenex on the nightstand!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Glad he is ok, Charlie ate a whole bottle of vitamin d, ended up spending the night in a vet hospital and was very expensive, we were so worried. It was a visitors vitamins.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Oh my goodness - por Ike! Maybe poor you, what with him kicking you all night. Ted ate an entire chocolate pound cake off the counter once. I was convinced he would die within minutes, but mostly he just had stinky farts for a a week, ha! =D

    ReplyDelete
  65. So glad to hear he is ok! I will add that to my list of things to keep away from dogs!
    -Shelley

    ReplyDelete
  66. Yay that's he's just fine! My dog one day, unzipped my purse, pulled out a full size snickers bar, removed wrapper and proceeded to eat it. When he was done, he tried to hide the wrapper! You always hear about chocolate being poisonous! I called my vet crying as well...and was informed that it wasn't pure chocolate through and through, so he should be fine. They told me to watch for diareah and excitability. Believe me when I tell you he was so mello! LOL

  67. Our schnauzer, Murphy, once ate 3/4 of a homemade sour cream pound cake and nearly went into a diabetic coma. Like you, I never understood people who's dogs eat stuff either. I'm all about picking up the crap off the floor. In our case, Murphy, pulled the cake off the kitchen table where it had been left sitting out by someone's helpful hubby. (We never keep things on the kitchen table because Murphy can do things like open doors and slide chairs into positions perfectly suited for reaching food on tables. Sooooo -- we normally don't keep food on the table.) At any rate, my hubby for whatever reason forgot to move the cake from the table and Murphy ate every last bite of it. He was semiconcious for two days. Seriously. What was confounding was that it was not a super sweet cake -- it was pound cake for goodness sakes -- but it was enough to send his kidneys into some sort of shock. I really thought my baby was going to die. Moral of this story: Even seemingly non-toxic items can be super harmful to our furry babies.

So glad that Ike is okay!

  68. We have two memory foam pillows that have done wonders for our sleeping. As little Beau, a Berger Picard (or Picardy Shepherd) was sleeping on the bed, I decided it was a good time to take a shower. When I got out and glanced at the bed to see how the little monster was doing, he was totally hidden behind thousands of little puffs of the memory foam pillow. It was like it had spontaneously combusted. It appeared he hadn't eaten any of these puffs but I was amazed that when they pillows are manufactured they stay in the contour shape but when one little shred gets into my pups little teeth, it completely blows up. No side effects fortunately but I thought I'd put this out for anyone else who might have experienced this. I'll leave out the other stuff he's eaten, all non-toxic, because this post would be too lengthy. By the way, this is a brand new breed for us and we absolutely love him.
