Today I would like to share with you a Pinterest story.
Last week I pinned a recipe for Sangria from Yellow Song Bird. The bestie and I were looking for a good healthy recipe to help us ring in the New Year. No biggie. Until I started to receive trillions of re-pinned e-mails from this Sangria pin. Check this out. Insanity.

Here’s the funny part. I don’t drink very often. I don’t have any moral/ethical/religious issues with drinking. It’s just one of my many weird Michelle things. But on occasion, I do enjoy a good Sangria. Even in the middle of winter. Mainly because it’s one of the few drinks that I actually enjoy and don’t have to choke down.
I thought I should share with my dear readers a review of this popular pin. Did it really live up to the re-pinning hype?
A Sangria Review From A Girl That Doesn’t Drink Often and Hates Red Wine
I gathered my ingredients.
Only the finest $4.99 bottle of red wine will do. Nothing but the best for my New Year’s Eve guests…
I dumped the ingredients in a pretty glass pitcher as instructed (instructions here)…
The sangria was obviously very pretty and it easy to make…even for a girl that struggles in the kitchen. I’d say I did it alone but I made Nate open the bottle of wine. Who corks a $4.99 bottle of wine? Seriously. I may or may not have carried the bottle of wine outside while looking for Nate. This was at noon.
The sangria was delicious. Just the right amount of sweet and fruity goodness. You should definitely add this to your entertaining drink list. Re-pin this lovely drink! You will thank me. And your guests will thank me.
Any other great Sangria recipes out there? What’s your most surprisingly popular pin on the ol’ Pinterest?
Ewwwww no! I would never put soda water in my sangria! I only ever use a mixture of lemonade and brandy. Sorry! :(
ReplyDeleteI've been drooling over this for a week!!
ReplyDeleteI like brandy in mine too, but the carbonation of the soda water is amazing. Sometimes we even use ginger ale.
ReplyDeleteMy most popular pin is our wedding rings. I am shocked by this!
That looks really good! I usually just cobble some fruits and sugar together in a wine, but my super special sangria secret is mint. Changes everything!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not 100% sold on the club soda but I like everything else. When we make sangria, we throw apples and oranges in there but I never thought about strawberries... I definitely have to try that!
ReplyDeleteI love how strongly you all feel about your sangria!! My type of readers!! ;)
ReplyDeleteYou will also need to take into account that I don't drink often so anything that doesn't taste like floor cleaner is good to me. I should add that disclaimer. :P
Ohh - That looks good! I'll have to try it out. :)
ReplyDeleteLove me some sangria. I just sent you another "re-pinned" email. ;)
ReplyDeleteYEAH viral pins! I'm actually in the opposite end of the boat - beer girl all the way but who doesn't love a good sangria? Looks taaasty.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a Sangria fan (rum and tequila kinda girl) but my Hubsy LOVES Sangria. Maybe I'll make a pitcher for him, while I sip a margarita ;)
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny- I pinned a white sangria recipe this summer and was amazed when it got like eleventy-billion repins. People must like sangria! This looks yummy, I will have to try the recipe! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI also have to choke down most alcoholic beverages on the rare occasion when I have one...it all tastes like burning nail polish remover to me. How that is pleasant to anyone is mystifying. That said, though, I do like a good sangria...I've seen recipes for white peach sangrias that look good, too!
ReplyDeleteI like my alcohol to taste like fruit juice. (This may be why I don't drink much either...that and half a glass of the stuff and I'm getting woozy.)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds great though. Thanks for sharing. (although I'm a little iffy about the club soda too...hmmm)
Ok, this is the first time in my pregnancy that I've really craved any alcoholic beverage. Thanks for making that happen! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love Sangria, definitely saving this recipe for the summer!
Repinned! But I think you should've had a warning for us preggos who can't drink that we shouldn't torture ourselves with this post.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to agree with the others-- the club soda kinda scares me.
ReplyDeleteI like how you went with Barefoot. Try their Moscato. It's loverly.
Holy moly! 1378 repins? I'm not a sangria fan but I will try this out since many friends are.
ReplyDeleteI have a yummy sangria recipe I posted here: http://coralandcoast.blogspot.com/2011/12/summer-thirst-quenchers.html
ReplyDeleteIt's so good! I will have to try yours too, I am a sangria girl all the way! xo Kirsty
So, after reading all these comments, I find myself scouring Pinterest for White Sangria/Peach Sangria recipes...
ReplyDeleteDid re-pin yours, 'cause it would look soooooo beautimous in my 5 gallon Italian beverage decanter.
i never drink sangria but this looks good! i now follow you on pinterest! (and we finally added you to our blog roll!) :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not more than a once in a while kind of drinker myself, but there was this Mexican restaurant I went to recently that made a Margarita/Sangria mixed drink that was OH so good.
ReplyDeleteI may have to keep your recipe in my back pocket for the future though...it looks really yummy!
love sangria!! it's my fav! im not a big drinker either but i can drink sangria with the best of them :)
ReplyDeleteIncorporating Brandy into it is amazing! I will have to try out the white sangria variety. And I second the recommendation on Barefoot Moscato, also their Sweet Red is life changing.
