Today starts the holiday tour of our home! Get excited! Because I am.
We’re going to start with our mantel!
I wasn’t much into mantel decorating until recently. Now it’s a fun game.
I have the challenge of the television above the mantel. I love my television so I’m going to work with it. And turn it into a double fire. Amazing. (That was all Nate. He’s good.)
I wanted to keep things simple as to not distract from my Elf watching. The mantel set the tone for this year’s wood/red theme.
I purchased the two wood trees and stock holders from Hobby Lobby (50% off, of course). The two deer were Salvation Army finds. The white deer had a hideous red and green ribbon around it’s neck. Nothing a little burlap couldn’t fix.
This is the first year that we’ve hung stockings. I could never find stockings that I liked. I should clarify…stockings that I liked that weren’t 1 million dollars. I whipped these darlings up on my own. **Pats self on back.**
And to clarify. The third stocking is for the dog. Sorry to disappoint but the furry dude needs a stocking too. Where else would Santa put his bones?
There you have it. Our 2011 mantel. Check back tomorrow as the tour continues!
What’s your mantel looking like this year? Do you hang stockings? What’s your favorite stocking stuffer (to give or receive)? Do you have a stocking for your pet? Who’s digging my flannel pants? (Look hard at the last photo.)

i need to do a christmas tour too! i have been hesitant to decorate too much until the P&S gets signed because you just never know!
ReplyDeletethat looks beautiful! i love those sweet stockings!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the red and wood look, it's one of my fave's! And I love checking your blog everyday just for your sense of humor! Thanks for putting a smile on my face each day!
ReplyDeleteI love it! The stockings are great as are the little trees. I think I want to make some stockings for next year (since we'll need an extra one and stockings are generally awful looking).
ReplyDeleteWe need stocking tutorials please :) Love how yours turned out, and thanks for clarifying, I guess I'm in the same boat as your mom ;) Ike, as always, looks adorable, and not so naughty at all. Love your flannel pj's, my type of pj's.
ReplyDeleteI love your mantel and your stockings and the trees and the double fire and the deer (especially the white one)!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see more!
We have a hand made Stocking for our Dog and honestly I think she gets more "loot" on Christmas than anyone else it is so easy to buy stuff for her and she loves opening her presents and discovering all her new things.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry our fur-kids have stockings too. Those stockings are adorable! I must learn to sew. I must. Your mantel looks gorgeous especially with the extra fire =)
ReplyDeleteWe don't have a mantel but I had fun yesterday decorating our dining room hutch as a mantel of sorts. Your stockings are perfectly cute! And I love the double fire. ;)
ReplyDeleteWe have a stocking for the cats...it has Marie from the Aristocats on it because we are weird Disney freaks like that. I think my parents gave it to me when I was in middle school. I may have to post about it...our furry friends definitely need some love from Santa, too! :)
I'm loving your stockings. You've been doing a lot of sewing lately. Is that new for you? We're decorating this weekend and usually hang those fuzzy red and white stockings that you get at Target. Maybe this year I need to kick it up a notch.
ReplyDeleteLove the trees and your cute pooch.
ReplyDeleteThe stockings look so good! I can't believe you made them. I need some little reindeer figurines, immediately.
ReplyDeleteHaha. We have a double fireplace too :)
ReplyDeleteNice stockings! You've really been impressing me with your projects. I checked out your no-sew faux roman shade in your laundry again over the weekend. I think I'm finally brave enough to attempt it myself!
Scouty has his own stocking too. Thank YOU dollar tree!
ReplyDeleteYour mantel looks great. I would have never known the reindeer was from SalVal!
The mantel looks great! I love the stockings - How did you make them??
ReplyDeleteLove it all, but the sprayed nutcrackers are outta this world!

All of our creatures have had their own stockings! I need to make new ones because I ruined our old ones last year.
ReplyDeleteSorry, hit enter too soon. I love yours and the mantle. Looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteGreat stockings!
ReplyDeleteI also made my own for me, my husband, and dog. It's surprisingly easy (and inexpensive) to sew up. :)
Love Love your polka dot stockings. We also put a stocking up for our dog every year for his toys & treats!!!
ReplyDeleteThis looks fabulous. And you just answered my question about the stockings. They are super cute!
ReplyDeleteYou will have about a million projects you can link up on Monday. So many DIY projects for your decor.
