I’m thinking about a weekly series titled “Get Outta My Head.” But I’m bad with follow through and I don’t want to let you down. We’ll see.
What can’t I get out of my head this week?
Farmhouse tables and metal chairs…

I’m pretty sure Nate is going to run for the hills if I say the words “farmhouse table” again tonight. I have him pondering the idea now. Pondering is a step above his previous idea that his wife had lost her marbles.
Where did this latest obsession come from? A dream that I think stemmed from picking out our new lights (thanks again Barn Light Electric). I want to take our kitchen a step further in the country/industrial department.
Just picture the table and chairs here…with this cream light and maybe a shelf above the patio door. Or perhaps taller moldings. My brain is out of control.
The table is doable (thanks to Ana White). The chairs are a different story. I need your assistance. Help me find an affordable chair. The closest thing I can get is this chair from Industry West for $125.

$125 multiplied by 4 equals a hard time convincing Nate that this is a good idea. Which it is. Of course.
What do you think? Love it or hate it? Who has chair options for me? What are you obsessing over this week?
Love that chair!
ReplyDeleteI´ve seen it in diferent blogs, but never here in Argentina... :(
And (I hope Nate doesn´t hate me), I don´t think that $ 125 each was expensive. Maybe beacause here everything is SO expensive!
Love!
Romi
I don't know where to find those chairs inexpensive, and I don't know how you are going to convince Nate, but I do know that a farmhouse table and those chairs would look gorgeous in your dining room!!
ReplyDeleteThese aren't exactly the same - but there are some chairs on Overstock.com that are similar:

Tell Nate I'm sorry but I am ALL ABOUT this idea in your house. Absolutely dig the wood and metal combo and I think it'll look especially good in your eating nook.
ReplyDeleteCrate and Barrel has the Delta for $85...not the same but metal...

You can get a set of four of this chair in the tub style on eBay for $300. Brand new.
ReplyDeleteJust search for modern metal dining chair set.
I think they would look great in your house!
I love those chairs too. I think I saw them on sale at World Market but I can't remember what the price was. Might be worth checking out.
ReplyDeleteI am OBSESSED with Tolix chairs! I have these on my wishlist for our dining room right now. They're $99, but the shipping is pretty expensive (but it's free right now). Then again, I don't know what Industry West charges for shipping, so it might still work out cheaper.
ReplyDeleteI like the ones from Overstock and World Market, too, but I don't know if I like the arm-ish bit.
Also, if you check RetailMeNot you can save an extra $20, so it works out to $379. I'm currently trying to talk myself out of ordering them.
ReplyDeleteI love love those chairs and metal bar stools, which I really want some for my kitchen, although they look cold they are easy to clean and probably last a lifetime, which means it might be worth spending more on them. I also love a good farm table, I really want to turn mine into one.
ReplyDeleteI have the steel silvertone side chairs from overstock- a bit different look- and a set of 2 was 132.99. I have them paired up with a dark wood farm table and a stainless overhead hanging light. (This reminds me that I really need to put a home tour on my blog). But I love them. They are very durable (have a 3yo) and they are not cold to sit on. Honestly- I would never go back to wood chairs if I don't have to! Go for it!!!!
ReplyDeleteTolix chairs are awesome. Judging by the fact that it's really hard to find them secondhand on craigslist, they must be really good if people aren't selling theirs.
ReplyDeleteRight now, I'm obsessing a little bit over an Aicher poster for the apartment. If I'm lucky, the one I have my eye on will be mine before the end of the week.
Oh, I LOVE your current obsession! Do it, do it, do it! (And even if you're borderline needing medication, you're a pharmacist, right? And if I know anything, it's that everybody gets free stuff from their job. Bam, problem solved.)
ReplyDeleteI like the way you think =) Have you tried Crate and Barrel? Also, you might try criagslisting "metal chair" you never know what you'll find!
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with the same combination. I first saw it at World Market. They have their "Jackson Tub Chairs" for $109 a piece. Not an awesome price difference, but slightly cheaper than what you posted! :)

Like everyone else, I love your new obsession, too. It's such a great look! I've been looking for dining room chairs (not the ones you love) and they all seem to be at least $100 each. It's such a huge purchase, eh?!
ReplyDeleteMake some money on the side (get a sponsor for your blog?) and tell Nathan the chairs were $25 each? Ask the company to send you the chairs for free and you'll do a review on them? You never know until you try, they might say yes.
ReplyDeleteThe overstock deal for 4 for $180 is the best I think. I found some at our Meijers a few months ago though for $45 a chair.
ReplyDeleteI see others beat me to the punch. (Which happens when I am catching up on days of Google Reader.) Overstock. I've been stalking them, but I don't have the space in the dining room for a big table anyhow. But the next house. The next houes will have a farm table and metal chairs.
ReplyDeleteOooh that'll be GORGEOUS! Good luck on the husband-convincing though - I still haven't figured out that process.
ReplyDeletei love the way your dog shows up in many of your pictures. did you shave him recently, cant tell. Our charlie gets matted alot.
