Barn Light Electric Made My Year

Do you remember when I posted about Barn Light Electric's on-line giveaway?  (Check it out here.)

On Friday I received an e-mail from Barn Light Electric letting me know that I was the lucky $1000 winner.  Holy cow!!!  What?

My first thought was “this can’t be real”.  I don’t win stuff.  Seriously.  I think they only things I have won in my 29 years of existence are a five dollar bill and a couple of 3X tee-shirts. But $1000 in beautiful lighting. Holy cow.

I spent a good chunk of my week-end day dreaming about lighting and scouring Barn Light Electric’s website.  I’m not going to lie to you.  I do things like this on most week-ends but this one was different.  I will actually be bringing these beautiful lights into my home.  Holy cow!

I think I have my selections narrowed down to the following (They are pending husband approval.)…

For the master bedroom:  Good bye ugly ceiling fan.  Hello, Altus Hugger Ceiling Fan with light…

image

For the kitchen:  I am in love with these Bermuda Pendants in satin steel (not the finish shown below)…

It helped for me to see them in a room…

Now picture them here…

And for above the kitchen table, the Laramie Pendant in vanilla cream…

What do you think of the cage around the light (different pendant, same cage)?  I’m liking it but still deciding...

image

I still can’t believe this is real.  Starting a blog was definitely one of my better life decisions.

What do you think of my selections?  Any other suggestions?  Would anyone be interested in a giveaway for the current pendants in my kitchen?  I would love to pass on the lighting karma but I’m not sure if there is any interest.  Let me know!

What’s the coolest thing you have ever won?

  2. congratulations! that's so awesome, a great prize to win. I myself never ever seem to win anything (i don't even think I've won a 5 dollar bill before...) oh well, maybe someday.

making a giveaway for your current fixtures is a good idea. i am sure someone would be interested. I myself rent, so it's not an option for me, sadly.

Also, thanks for stopping by my blog yesterday. Yes, i am undertaking a stenciling project, I will be posting my review of the experience soon- I actually found it to be much easier than other bloggers have written with their experiences, maybe it's the pattern I picked.

  3. Congrats! That's so awesome! I love your selections-- they'll look perfect in your house.

While this wasn't a contest, I consider it winning something-- in January my best friend and I scored last minute tickets to an Oprah taping. We were invited to an advanced screening of "Just Go With It" the night before the taping. (Oprah sent us to the movie for free and she paid for our pop and popcorn. Holla!) The guests for the taping were Jen Aniston, Adam Sandler, and Pierce Morgan. It was ah-mazing.

  22. I once won $6 from a lottery ticket. That was nice. But the best thing I ever received for free was two tickets to see the opening night of Les Mis in Los Angeles. That's one thing I miss about my old job. I don't miss things like hectic pace and having no passion for the work.

Can't wait to see the updates!
