Adventures in Target

I’m not generally allowed to go in Target alone.

I wander and things randomly end up in my cart.  I have no clue how it happens.  I usually try to drink a lot of water before I go and not let myself use their restroom.  This ensures that I am out within an hour.  I have an extremely small bladder.  Bet you didn’t know that.

Nate will actually run errands to avoid me ending up in Target alone.  Pretty impressive, I am.

Last night I went alone.  And…….I found these beautiful wooden pumpkins on sale for $4.98 each.  (Along with a ton of other awesome fall items but I practiced restraint.)  How could they not end in my cart??

I’m not sure if the mantel is their permanent fall home or not.  Time will tell.

Please note that I took these photos with our Nikon CoolPix.  It may be the worst point and shoot I have ever owned.

And yes, Hocus Pocus is the best Halloween movie ever made.  Don’t let Nate tell you otherwise.

What else ended up in my cart besides boring groceries, stuff for the dog, face lotion, etc… Jillian Michael’s Ripped in 30.  Be on the look out of some massive muscles on this blog.  Or me whining about how every inch of my body is on fire.  Either one.

The end.  Happy week-end!  Keep me entertained at work by commenting with your favorite Target purchase.  Or your most compulsive purchase.  Your worst purchase.  I want to hear them all.

  2. About a month ago I went to Target for shampoo and came out with yoga pants, a shower curtain, shower curtain rings, shower curtain liner, and a hairdryer. Random. They must put subliminal messages in the Muzack.
    P.S. Your mantel looks great!

  3. You know I love Target!! I went twice this week because I forgot stuff the first time. Natalie is a good helper. My favorite Target purchase is the popcorn combo from the snack bar :o) I got one yesterday and ate it while I shopped.

But really, yesterday's favorite purchase was poodle slippers for Natalie. They are hilarious and she loves them. I'm sure she will show them to you tonight!

  5. I love Target! I'm no longer a danger to myself or others in that store now since I have no money to spend! I bought this really cool 4 picture frame from there a few years ago. It still has only 1 photo of my former dog Lucy. But, still my favorite purchase.

Where did you get that owl? It's really cool.

  6. Those are great wooden pumpkins and I love the price. I always seem to spend way more than I planned when I go to places like Target. I've tried not taking a cart and then I end up being the loser with her hands full of stuff dropping it all over the aisles!

Bette Midler is the best, BTW!

  9. How funny. I love Target. Just made a run in this morning to grab something and found myself stopping at the clearance home section. Target is dangerous territory.

  10. Im not allowed in Target either. If I get out of there spending under $50 I consider it a major accomplishment.

  11. I think it's actually impossible for me to leave Target having spent less than $50. Every time I pay and the cashier tells me the total I think "Wait, how much? What did I buy?" But then I look and there's no way I can put anything back. One of my favorite things from Target is our (probably fake) leather small rectangular storage ottoman, which I think I've actually seen in pictures on your site. It gets moved around wherever it's needed. So versatile, and cheap!

Also, I completely agree Hocus Pocus is the best. My husband (also Nate!) would also disagree, but I guess we'll just have to conclude that Nate's really just don't know a thing about Halloween movies. Poor guys.

  12. Wai-wai-wai-wai-wait. Nikon coolpix = worst camera ever? But isn't Ashton Kutcher their official spokesperson? I just can't believe that Ashton Kutcher could ever lead me astray.

Also, speaking of Target, and official sponsors, they are my son's official butt sponsor. Their diapers are my favorite, in part because they give me an excuse to go to Target once a month. And even though my cousin has informed me that I can get fancy-pants name-brand diapers through Amazon, delivered straight to my door on a schedule, for the same price as Target diapers, I don't want to switch because then when will I get to go to Target?

  14. We are now friends for life because you also think that Hocus Pocus is the best Halloween movie *EVER*! We watch it *MANY* times every season...and I saw those pumpkins at target and I think I left a little part of my soul at Tar-jay when I didn't buy them...I think I need to go back today (c:

  15. I thought I was the only one with the Target problem. Maybe we should form a support group? Target Anonymous. And we can bring the dogs! It will give us excuses to go to Target and buy pet toys for them to chew on while we have our meetings. :)

  16. I'm a loyal Target girl- I always tell myself I need to start shopping at walmart because there you go in for shampoo, you walk out with shampoo. Target on the other hand, you go in for shampoo, you walk out with a lamp, a clock, a tank top and you walk out realizing you forgot to get shampoo

  17. I saw those pumpkins a few weeks ago, and you definitely got them for a steal! Some stores definitely have a way of making you buy things you never knew you needed and actually don't really even need at all.

Rick found out at one of his pharmacy things that Walmart actually tells their pharmacists to give customers a certain length for wait-time so that they will go and....shop. Sneaky, sneaky. I was unimpressed.

  18. Target has a magnet attached to a magnet in my wallet. They are just drawn to each other. I could spend half a day in there, it is dangerous territory! Love the mantle, especially the scrollwork on the front!

  19. hahah! lucky for Dan, there is no Target within an hour drive of us! verryyyy lucky! LOOOOVE those pumpkins!

  20. Hi Michelle. I actually haven't been to Target in a while because I'm trying to start buying more handmade pieces, but I have the same issues with controlling my grabbiness in there. Nowadays I avoid Target or I can just kiss hand made goodbye. I won't have any money left for it. In your defense, those pumkins look fantastic on your mantle :)

  21. I have the same problem when I go into Target. The last time I went alone because my husband was in the car with our sleeping child. I guess my "I'll only be a few minutes" turned into much longer. Poor Chris had to use the bathroom and was waiting for me to come back. Oops. I am loving that owl and may just have to make a trip this weekend to pick one up.

  22. You know those awesome, full sized body pillows? The super squishy ones with the really soft fuzz? I happened across them recently and was struck with an immediate NEED for a body pillow. Too bad for me they only had hot pink and lime green left. No matter, I told myself, I'll just get a pillow cover. But wait! I reminded myself, half their draw is the fuzzy outside. Anyway - I now have a hot pink fuzzy body pillow in our very neutral, earth toned bedroom. :/

  23. I can never got to Target just to browse otherwise I end up with a full cart and cringing as that total keeps getting higher and higher. Love those pumpkins....I need to make myself stay out of the fall section to avoid my aforementioned "problem"!

  24. I love your wooden pumpkins! Dang I missed them! I'm looking forward to all of the Halloween clearance!!
