Nate’s sister needs your help! As a fellow DIYer, she is going to paint her front door this week-end. She is struggling on the color and she wants your help!
Here’s her house…(She would also like you to ignore the stairs. They are on the to-do list! The little girl in the window is the lucky owner of this nightstand.)…
I worked my lack of Photoshop Elements skills to “paint” her front door for a better visual. Learning new things is hard when you are old.
Option #1: Paint the door the same color as the house…
Option #2: Valspar’s Grenadine
Option #3: Valspar’s Bangkok Rust
Option #4: Match the brick on the house
Option #5: Match the shutters
Option #6: Dark red found in Photoshop
Option #7: Navy
Option #8: Reader’s choice. Let us know if you have another color in mind!
So, what’s your vote?? There are no wrong answers here. I have a favorite but I won’t share until the votes are in!!
If you read this, we want to hear from you!!!
What's the color of your front door? Gotta a photo on-line? Share the link with us and we'll check it out!
I voted for Navy, but a close second for me is matching the brick on the house . . . I definitely like the dark options better! Although I was tempted to start a reader's choice movement for acid green ;-) Hey, if she's gonna go with the winning vote, you've got to expect somebody to be a punk about it . . .
ReplyDeleteRachel @ Maybe Matilda
i voted for the grenadine, and m second would be the rust... everything else was jus too blah. the grenadine gives more pop and appeal.
ReplyDeleteI like matching either the brick or the shutters. Wouldn't you also paint the areas on either side of the door? It looks odd not painted the same as the door.
ReplyDeleteGo for the dark colors. I like matching the brick or black.
ReplyDelete@Paula- I'm guessing she'll paint the sides as well..I'm just not fancy enough in Photoshop yet! :)
ReplyDeleteI voted for the shutter colour! It's such a pretty colour! P.S - loved that survey widget thingy! Very cool!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! We are planning on painting the sidelights, too. I don't know what color...either same as the house or same as the door.
ReplyDeleteI voted for the red if she is planning to leave the brick and the siding the color they are at the moment. As budget allows she might consider painting the brick a creamy white and the siding a gray color.
ReplyDeleteThe Blue, Red or Black. Match the shutters and add flowers of same at the bottom of the steps to bring te color away from the house alittle. Except black - LOL! Not sure if she's considered this option - paint the brick either olive green or ivory and then she'll have more options. We'll be painted our outside too - next year going from all brown to yellow with white trim. Can't wait to see the new door!
ReplyDeleteI went for navy but also threw in a suggestion for a mid-tone green. I love to see bright doors that stand out but I think the reds will pull out too much pinky peach in the paint.
ReplyDeleteYou can see our front door color here. I chose option 8 and suggested a few colors in the poll.
ReplyDeleteI like the navy, too.
ReplyDeleteMy vote was for the grenadine. Not only is a red front door fabulous, but it is supposed to be good feng shui :)
ReplyDeletei voted for the photoshop dark red! love a red door. i would also pick the grenadine as a close second.
ReplyDeleteI voted for the red. But if you are going to paint the door, no matter what color you choose, you need to paint the sidelights! that's what my husband, who is a professional door installer, said and I agree!
