Independence Day Flashbacks and Nonsense

How was your weekend?  Ours was lovely.  We discovered Mad Men and iced green tea lattes.  Both have changed our lives.  I’m changing the name of the blog again.  It’s now “Mad Men and the Dog”.  Or “Mad Girl and the Dog”.  That’s probably more like it.

We did manage to get some things done.  Non-blogworthy things like getting our lives in order.  You know, like cleaning out the bathroom medicine cupboard.  And the garage.  Oh, the garage.  Fun stuff.  I’m also getting ready to move the ol’ blog to a different platform.  I have no clue what I’m doing and it’s going to be amazing.

Beings that I didn’t take a picture of the expired bottle of cough syrup from 2010 (Yes, I’m a pharmacist.  Why do you ask?), I’m digging out some ol’ Independence day inspiration from the archives. It’s make me sad when lovely posts get forgotten. Enjoy!

Who’s excited to watch fireworks this week?  Want to photograph some of those fireworks?  Nate has some tips for you.  My tips are wear bug spray and drink green tea lattes to help you stay awake.  Also try not to sit next to annoying people.  I’m horrible at that last one.

Want your dog to be super stylish in red, white and blue.  How about an easy sew dog tie?  You know Ike will be wearing his.

Or how about baking a flag cake.  Mine, obviously, turned out well.

  2. Oh my gosh! Don't get me started on Mad Men!!! OK< do! Dave and I Netflixed (yes that's a word)all the old seasons and got hooked a couple months back. They are a bunch of messed up characters and it's our guilty pleasure, that and the Jersey Housewives. I know, we watch crap TV. I need these tips on firework photos! Thanks Michelle :) xo Kristin

  6. Your failed cake post was one of my favorites of all time! I busted out laughing seeing the photo again!! There aren't enough of those kinds of posts, really. I also had a cake fail; one I tried from Pinterest, a pink champagne cake and it was terrible and disgusting, not sweet at all.

  13. Mad Men is SO GOOD! The tie is adorable- might have to try that one, though Sprout tries to eat his bow tie when it's on (which, as you can imagine, is hilarious to watch). Happy Fourth!

Stewie could use a tie, we have tons of expired things (but does it really go bad??), and I think I was on season 3 when I got sidetracked by a tiny human. I need to start watching again. Happy 4th!

  20. Love it!! I have not watched Mad men yet. Will I regret getting into it? I should watch, probably, just for the furniture and wall paper and clothes :)

We just cleared out our garage. It was so great .... after we were finished :)
