The Land of Misfit Furniture

Good bloggers only post pretty photos.  Good bloggers have titles that maximize search engine optimization.  You will get neither of those things in this post.

Our garage has become the Land of Misfit Furniture.  It’s like I’m King Moonracer but I don’t need Rudolph’s help finding homes for these beauties.  (Good bloggers also discuss Rudolph in February.)

Let’s examine.

First up we have the office chair that I had to have…back in November.  It needs cleaned up. I’m adding that to my week-end to-do list.  On top of it is some potential barn wood for a potential dining room table.  Potentially.

The buffet is coming along nicely for my craft room.  Color sneak peak.

This photo shows my almost completed sewing table.  This photo also shows the curio cabinet that I redid and no longer have a place for.

I drove 40 miles to pick up these chairs covered in cat fur.  They were $5 each.  I have a plan.  And I got to have lunch with an old friend. I still win even if they don’t work out.

I’m not only hoarding furniture for myself but also for my brother.  These end tables will soon be an awesome coffee table.  Some day.  Potentially.

I also recently bought this rocking chair.  I took it up to see how it would look in my craft room.  I liked it so much I left it there.  It does need a color change once it’s spring spray paint season.

I think that is all of the crap furniture I am currently hoarding.

I don’t have a problem.  Why do you ask?

Does your garage look like the land of misfit furniture?  Big plans for the week-end?  Anyone want to clean those cat fur chairs for me?

  1. Im worse! Because, my hoard isnt in my garage, its in my husbands uncles! You see we moved home and instead of buying a house decided to rent an apartment and anything that didnt fit is in storage, in someone elses garage. Sooooo many projects when we finally have space.

sad little furniture.... all it wanted was for someone to love it, maybe sit on its face, or eat off it, or store socks in it....

  4. I have a bunch of things in our storage room for "future" projects, like wooden crates, empty wine glass bottles, old cabinet doors with mirror fronts and shelves. Loads of shelves.

  5. We're moving today but our 2nd bedroom was always a dumping ground/excuse to hoard things we were never going to use. We've been slowly cleaning it out and I have no idea how we accumulated so many things!

  7. If your garage is the Land of Misfit Furniture, then my basement is the "Kingdom of There's Shit Everywhere and What's with All This Sawdust."

  9. You've got some awesome stuff in your garage! I've got some chairs waiting for spray paint season, a rocking chair to reupholster, and some cabinets that need painting. Not to mention so many things that I still need to buy so I can refinish them ;)

  10. My garage DID look like your garage. Until it was time to start organizing for the big move and D made me purge a whole bunch of stuff. ~le sigh~ Guess that just leaves room for new stuff. ;)

Lurve the green on the buffet.

  11. You're not a real blogger until your garage turns into a storage unit for old furniture. So don't even feel bad. You are a good blogger.

  12. Well if that's a problem, then we share the same problems. Our basement used to be like that before I got a bunch done and put in place. Although I still have an armoire and nightstand in the basement that needs some work. I love hoarding future projects. All the cool kids do it. :)

Oh, and I never take good pictures or have titles that would maximize anything. I'm a terrible blogger. I'm kind of shocked you ever read my blog haha.

  17. Your garage and my garage are twins. I haven't been able to park my car in our garage since, hmmmm, August. Brad says I need to stop bringing home furniture. I say we need a 3-4 car garage with our next house. Problem solved. Excited to see the finished buffet and cat hair chairs.

  18. Oooh, that curio cabinet would be perfect for crafty supplies in your new room! I keep my sewing machine in a glass cabinet to keep the dust off.

  19. I love that office chair! My garage looks just like this, except with less space.

  20. Problem? What problem?

    I only see opportunities.

  21. I definitely try to hide my mis-fit furniture purchases from my husband, so they are scattered around the house. Is that a sign of a problem!?

  22. Ha! That totally looks like my mom's garage. She rarely meets a piece of used furniture she doesn't like.
