Confession

I have a confession to make.

I am actually a 93 year old woman.

I just borrow some couple down the street for photos.  Ike is mine though.  My 93 year old self has no trouble keeping up with that feisty little terrier.

Proof.  My love for quilt squares.

Quilt Squares

Okay, I fine I’m not 93.  I just act like it.  Tea and quilting anyone?

I started this quilt at the beginning of the year. I was supposed to be partaking in the  Block a Month.  Yeah, that didn’t happen but I finally got caught up…until November hit.

So many quilt squares.  So little time.

I do feel that my quilting skills are improving and I think I might make another quilt next year.  I probably shouldn’t get ahead of myself and finish this one first!

What’s your favorite elderly hobby?

  3. Elderly hobby of choice: knitting. Usually in slippers, with a cup of cocoa, and a little dog in my lap. My friends say I have an "old soul"... but I htink they are just being nice. :)

  5. Seems like you're not the only old lady in training Michelle ;)

I took up quilting a few years ago with the help of my quilt-crazed inlaws and am only really starting to get the hang of things (I think) now that I've finished my first two.

Having been sick the past few weeks I've found that sewing has been a great way to pass some of the time while feeling like I'm accomplishing something other than wallowing in the misery of a sinus infection.

  6. Can't wait to see the quilt!

I am an old lady all winter. I sit under a blanket with tea or coffee and move as little as possible so as not to have drafts of cold air go under my warm blanket. Yep.

  7. Ike - you are so cute! I really can't make anything that has to do with sewing/knitting etc. One of these days, I will have to have my mother in law teach me!

  8. These look lovely! I really like the colors you chose. I spent all weekend knitting... pretty sure that makes me sound elderly.

  9. Quilting doesn't make you old! And I love those squares.

My husband calls my decorating style "Delusions of Grandma." Hmph.

  10. You know me, I am full of elderly hobbies. Knitting is my favorite though.

  11. These look really great! I love the fabrics you chose and I think they are going to look really pretty when you get them together as a quilt.

  12. I just went on a quilt retreat and there wasn't a single 93 year old there but there was quite a few 20 somethings!

  13. These squares look great Michelle! I don't have an old lady hobby, but I do read Star Wars books so where you're elderly I'm nerdy. ;)

  14. This is something that I've always been a little interested in! It seems like a giant puzzle except that you dont just break the puzzle up again at the end, which is always depressing to me. Can't wait to see the finished product!

  15. I may try the quilt square a month challenge next year! eek!

PS - I am 93, too. In addition to sewing and drinking tea, I also crochet :)

  16. I definitely have some old lady hobbies too- I also enjoy curling up under a blanket, dog by my side with a hot beverage and doing some embroidery or sewing. I also have the desire to learn how to knit and crochet. Mainly so I can crochet myself some old lady slippers!

Your quilt squares are looking great!

  17. I am also an old lady, don't like quilting, actually, don't like to sew at all either, but I do LOVE to stay home, and do absolutely nothing,

  18. D is an 80 year old man stuck in a 30 year old's body. No kidding.

  19. If you're a 93-year old woman, don't worry. That makes me, oh, 95? I think I may be ahead of you yet in my old lady ways. Let's grow old and disgusting together. I LOVE your quilt blocks. It's been a LOOOONG time since I made a quilt (I'm not counting the one I made for my new nephew last Christmas because I was rushed and using a crappy machine and couldn't enjoy it), and you are making me miss it. I especially love the block with the pinwheels. I don't know if that's what they're actually called, but I'm sure you know what I mean. I can't remember the young people's slang.

  20. Three words: Murder, She Wrote.
It's one of my favorite shows and that not only makes me old, it makes me old AND lame.
Pass the tea while I wipe my nose with this Kleenex I have stuffed in my shirt.

  21. I spent a Saturday a few weeks ago crocheting with my two cats while watching Rick Steves. Oh, to be young again.

  22. Last Friday night, Andy and I rolled our loose coins. There was tea involved and no alcohol. I'm embarrassed just typing that.

  23. I love quilting - of course I'm in my 50's, but I also love your blog. It keeps me young. :)

  24. I love all the colors you have chosen. Can't wait to see the finished product. It seems like a lot of the young crowd are into quilting these days so I wouldn't call yourself old.

  25. Those are gorgeous quilt squares. I'm still afraid of quilting. Maybe you'll have to do a post on what you do once you have all of the squares done - that's the part that scares me.

  26. I'm 27, going on 93, too. I have a cup of earl grey in front of me (actually, it's 'dorian grey') and a half-finished quilt sitting at home. The boyfriend says we can only have one quilt hanging on the wall at any given time.

  27. Bahaha...you crack me up! Those squares are so pretty...great job!

  28. Ha! I was going to do the block a month thing, but that never happened. But you made it to November! You are so close!

  29. Oh, I feel so much better now-not so alone!
I love tea, am always cold, have 2 small dogs to keep me company (and one fab hubby) I love to knit, would like to learn how to quilt after I fix my sewing machine and get some patience and Murder She Wrote? YUP!! along with Matlock.

  30. So pretty! Love the colors you're using! My college roommate and I declared ourselves founders of the Future Grandmothers of America club. We used to spend our Friday and Saturday nights crocheting and drinking gin and tonics. Would love to have you as a member, hahaha!
