Bath time. A dog’s worst nightmare. It’s not exactly a dog owner’s dream either.
Look at that sad, dirty face.
Bath time got a little more fun around the casa de Décor and the Dog. The fine folks over at Soggy Doggy sent us a Soggy Doggy Super Shammy to test out!
This shammy is 5x more absorbent than a regular cotton towel. It is made from millions of textured, ultra-fine strands of microfiber chenille that are woven together. The increased surface area of this shammy allows it to dry faster than cotton towels and it remains bacteria and odor-free.
The verdict?
The hand pockets were handy for drying the face and underbelly. The shammy is super absorbent. Ike has two coats of fur, a top wire coat and an undercoat. The undercoat is tough to dry. The shammy honestly did a great job of soaking up water that a towel normally doesn’t touch. He snuggled up next to me after his bath and my arm wasn’t damp like it normally is after bath time. Super Shammy for the win!
Besides bath time, we think this towel is super handy to keep by the backdoor for after walk cleanups! We tested it out last night after a gloomy/wet walk. A little scrubbing and his paws were clean and dry. My wood floors could stay clean for another night. That right there won me over.
Did someone say walk?
Be sure to check out the Soggy Doggy Shop where you can pick out your own Super Shammy, Doormat (especially handy for those winter months ahead), or Slopmat (for those messy eaters!).
Soggy Doggy was kind enough to offer up a Super Shammy to one lucky reader (enter below)! And because not everyone can win, use the code DECOR20 for 20% off of your purchase!

What a great giveaway. I'd recently heard of the Soggy Doggy - good to hear it lives up to the reviews. I have 2 dogs...1 who doesn't mind the bath at all and 1 who isn't that hip about it! :)
ReplyDeletePenelope doesn't really like bath time - mostly she doesn't like water on her face. She does seem to like being clean after bath time, so we don't feel too bad dunking her in the tub!
ReplyDeleteLexi doesn't mind bathtime at all...which is good when she is a great dane. I can't imagine trying to hold down a great dane that doesn't want a bath! That being said, a better drying device would be great!
ReplyDeleteMy doggy needs one of these:)
ReplyDeleteFoster loves bath time... I mean LOVES it. Cap'n on the other hand HATES the actual bath, but loves how he feels after. My doggies could totally use this little gadget!
ReplyDeleteMy dogs are pretty much convinced that the bathroom is their own personal swimming pool and they will jump in it whenever they get the chance... even if it is currently occupied. At my house you muct always make sure hte bathroom door is firmly latched before taking a shower.
ReplyDeleteMy dogs hate bath time- they all put on the most pathetic faces when they see the towels/shampoo. Speaking of, it's about time for a bath- I wonder how that's going to work considering I'm 8+ months pregnant! We could definitely use one of these shammy's- drying 3 dogs is at least a 3 towel job and they still stay wet for a good 1/2 a day!!
ReplyDeleteI have cats. They hate it! But my in-laws have a dog and this would be great for them as they live out on a farm. I'm going to have to keep it in mind for a Christmas present.
ReplyDeleteMy dog haaaates bathtime, and especially the drying-off part...but LOVES rolling in mud outdoors. Not a good combo. Maybe this would help speed up the process for us!! :)
ReplyDeleteMy dog hates getting a bath at home, so we send him to the groomer. I'm assuming he's well-behaved there since I haven't heard anythign from the groomer (or they're just better at giving dog baths than we are). But it would be nice to be able to bathe him at home to save some $$.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of this, but this would be a great product to try during bath time, which the dog really dislikes.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how it works on fine curly-haired fellas like our Lhasa-Poo? I usually go through about 3 towels before he tears through the house, rolling on every rug/carpet he can find in protest...
ReplyDeleteWhat an excellent giveaway, Michelle -- thanks!
Now you are talking.....I keep a towel at our back door from this point on and wipe her paws. This product sounds perfect.
ReplyDeleteThis would be a lifesaver at my house! Meaning the lives of three crazy dogs.
ReplyDeleteWe have two dogs, both have collie in them, so lots and lots of hair
ReplyDeleteMy Red Heeler doesn't mind the bath at all, but he always looks just stricken about it in the process.
ReplyDeleteThis is great! I have two labs that HATE bath time and one of them will lay in the floor and shiver like I'm about to kill her. Also, labs take forever to dry out so this product would be great.
ReplyDeleteWe have a Golden. Talk about a wet, sopping, mess of dripping, thick fur. He loves a bath. We hate it. The Soggy Doggy shammy holds the promise of changing our opinion. :)
ReplyDeleteMy dog hates(!) getting a bath and takes for-ev-er to dry. Who knew a dog with 1 short coat could take like 2+ hours.
ReplyDeleteCooper wants this. Well...maybe I really want it ;)
ReplyDeleteOh and Coop loves after bath time. He runs around like crazy and rubs up against everything...silly dog
DeleteI could so use one for my two dogs.
ReplyDeleteMy dog hates bathe time, but he's a trooper and just stands there and takes it. My cat also hates bath time, but we bathe him anyway because it helps with our allergies. We are evil pet owners!
ReplyDeleteI think I might need this... Mocha resigns herself to bath time. Hates it, but in a quiet, tolerant way. However, if we're just rinsing her paws, we'll turn the water on, throw something floaty and she loves to spend time in the tub batting at the water. Kingsley hasn't had too many baths yet (he's only 4 months!) so he hasn't quite figured out the purpose of the torture.
ReplyDeleteI could totally use this! Bill tends to get dirty everytime he goes outside, and he's huge, so bath time is a real pain in the rear.
ReplyDeleteThis would be a lifesaver around our house! Our golden retriever, Trudy, LOVES bathtime but HATES being dried. And she has so much hair that we use between 5 and 6 towels to get her to the point of just damp. This would be so handy!

ReplyDeleteAll three of my dogs are double coated and no one likes bath time. I'm as wet as they are by the time we're done.
ReplyDeleteI would love a super shammy. I'll be using the coupon code unless I get super lucky here. My dog Cooper is a city dog and a mostly indoor dog, but you wouldn't know it based on some of the messes he gets into!
ReplyDeleteMy girl is okay with baths, but my boy hates them. :(
ReplyDeleteJack dislikes baths. This towel looks very promising as he is always a soaking wet mess for hours afterwords.
ReplyDeleteNeither of my dogs like baths, but they cooperate once I get them in the tub. Pallo is horrible though, he stays wet for hours afterwards, and loves nothing more than going outside and rolling right after a bath.
ReplyDeleteSir Digby Chicken Caesar is not a MONSTER fan of bath time, but once he's in there and a lathered up he really enjoys the scrubbing :) I will say...a soggy doggy shammy would definitely help with the drying time, and the looks he gets from both cats. It's embarrassing being a wet dog.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great invention! Jixer (our black lab) is not a fan of bath time which is funny to me because she loves swimming and water in general. We could definitely use a slop mat too- she is the messiest drinker I have ever seen!!
ReplyDeleteThis looks great! One of our dogs is a fast drier, but the other one seems to suck up the bath water and not let it go!
ReplyDeleteAlthough neither dog enjoys bath time it seems that Juno fairs better than Bubba about it. Afterwards she always gets super excited and starts zooming around the house - I guess its her version of a blow dryer? haha
ReplyDeletethey are fearful, are calm during the bath and then once they are dried off they run all over the house up, down, around to dry off even more and get any water out of their ears
ReplyDeleteMy pooch has no problem running and getting in the tub when I tell him too. He loves the full body scratchdown he gets when it is shampoo time. :)
ReplyDeleteI could have used one of those a couple of weeks ago - but I am sure Rosie will be in need of a bath any day now! What a great product!
ReplyDeleteThanks - Shelley
My Gus hates the bath. And getting him dry is even worse. This would be very helpful!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds great for after walks when it's rainy outside as well as after bath time. We're adopting a dog, so I'm stocking up on all the standard supplies, and a freebie would be great :-)
ReplyDeleteAlso, the toys that you blogged about from Harry Barker a while ago are so cute!
This would be great for my sister's husky, Nikki!
ReplyDeleteHudson LOVES bath time!! He gets up on his little bench and waits to be scrubbed down. Then he comes and plops in my lap and waits to be blow dried. Such a diva! Lol What a great giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great idea. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI could definitely use one of these! Especially because we just seeded the yard and our pup comes in every day with super wet, dirty feet.
ReplyDeleteHATE bath time! I have two large dogs- one that has a lot of fur and doesn't mind the bath, and one that HATES the bath and will do everything possible to try to escape. By the time it's over with, the bathroom is COVERED in fur, water, and soap!
ReplyDeleteI have three dogs....so needless to say the bathroom is a disaster when the bathes are done! After taking care of three kids all day the absolute last thing I want to do is wash three dogs...lol. Oh yah...and the dogs don't really appreciate the bathes either!
ReplyDeleteGood thing my dog, at 126 lbs, doesn't mind baths too much to get into the bathtub for me. He has lots of hair, though, so I'm thinking we might need 2 of these towels!
ReplyDeleteMac could care less but Eleanor hates them and clings on to you for dear life.
ReplyDeleteMy dog used to hate going to the groomer but lately she goes right in! We almost never wash her at home since she needs to be clipped as well. Fussy Standard Poodle! It's wet times around here so I would love to keep her feet dry before she comes in!
ReplyDeleteI have 2 little furballs who would benefit from these awesome Shammys!
ReplyDeleteI have 3 pugs...1 is okay with the bath, 1 isn't in love with it...and 1 is obsessed (will jump back in tub while I'm trying to round up the other 2 for their turn!). He will get dirty on purpose so I *have* to give him a bath - so we'd love this as he hates the blow dryer, would ease manual dry time considerably!
ReplyDeleteMy stinky dog could totally use this...
ReplyDeleteP.S. I LOVE Ike's "walk" pose! :)
Just wanted to pop in and say I love your new header! This is my favorite by far :)
ReplyDeleteoooo scout would love one of these. he is a bath time hater.
ReplyDeleteJack could definitely use this for when he comes in from outside. We gave up bathing him. It's easier to pay someone to deal with him when it comes to bathing.
ReplyDeleteShiloh hates baths, but he enjoys the drying off with a towel part. He would love one of these!
ReplyDeleteThis is a genius idea. I can never get Hurley and Lucy dry post bath and then the run around the house getting their "wet dog scent" EVERYWHERE!
ReplyDeleteMy pup doesn't mind the shower at all. In face, when we come back from swimming at the pond by our house, he goes and stands by the door. He does love to rub his freshly clean, wet body all over my couch though!
ReplyDeleteWilson and Lucy do not have a problem with bathes; however, it is not their favorite activity.
ReplyDeleteMy dog Maxx hates bath time. As soon as he gets out we dry him as best we can with normal towels, but he goes through the house & rubs his doggie body over everything in site, his bed, the rugs, the sofa, etc...It would be great to have something that would get all of the extra dampness out of his hair, so everything in the house doesn't smell like wet doggie.
ReplyDeleteSounds cool. Feeney doesn't mind showers, which is a good thing since he gets them twice a month. He's seriously due for one right now. P.U.
ReplyDeleteIke looks adorable! I think he is adorable in any situation. Yui absolutely HATES baths. She actually got one this morning and made me feel like I was torturing her. This would probably be a very useful product for us!
ReplyDeleteMy dog has had 3 baths in the last 5 days. So, I think I need one of these. Fortunately, Shalai LOOOOOVES baths. You just say "get in the tub" and she runs upstairs and jumps in the tub and waits for you to come up. Kind of adorable.
ReplyDeleteI love Ike! My girl pup Dixie doesn't mind baths but also doesn't love them. Her brother Chip is a super wuss and hates bath time! They both try to escape when I'm trying to dry them so the faster, the better!
ReplyDeleteMy pup just freezes and goes all rigor mortis-like as soon as the water starts running... :) Afterwards he runs around the house like a crazy rubbing himself off on our bed/couch/carpets. I could really use this shammy!
ReplyDeleteMy dog hates bath time. We've learned she doesn't mind showers as much though.
ReplyDeletewhile not too fond of it, he puts up with it, lol.
ReplyDeleteOMG, my dog hates baths and being wet. After her bath she uses every surface in the house to dry herself. This is genius! Let wet dog smells everywhere!
ReplyDeleteI have two large breed dogs and this would be great!
