Me: “Nate, what do you think about this wreath?”
Nate: “Eh. It’s okay.” As he runs upstairs.
Me: “You didn’t even look at it.”
Nate: “I did too. Sticks. Owls.”
Me: “Well, I just need to know if it’s too quirky.”
Nate: “Not too quirky. Just Michelle quirky.”
Me: “Okay, good.”
As you can see, my quirky owl obsession continues. I’ve decided to use them to cure my bird phobia. Yes, I’m afraid of birds. My heart races when one is near me or if I can see them plotting to peck my eyes out. I think it all stems from a childhood encounter with an angry momma goose. Mothers, keep your kids away from the fowl. This cute little cartoony owls make me smile though. They’re helping me rethink birds. Except for the real owl that lives in the trees behind my house and makes his owly noises while I watch New Girl….as he plots how he is going to take me down. He has me rethinking nothing.
This wreath was quite simple to make. I cut out some fabric and used some super glue to attach it to the front of the body. I sewed around the edges, stuffed it with filler, and sewed it on up. I can make a template for those of you that are interested. I was just not interested in making at template last night. (It’s season premiere week. I have priorities.) It’s quirky and old ladyish. My favorite kind of décor wreath.
Do you have a fall wreath up? What’s on it? Anyone else using quirky owls to cure their bird phobia? What’s are your favorite shows this season?
as i said on instagram....
ReplyDeleteduh, i love it.
I couldn't really see the owls on instagram and up close they are even cuter! I love it :)
ReplyDeleteOwls for the win!
ReplyDeleteIt's cute!! I really like the little owls! :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's adorable, and I'm digging the owls. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteUber cute. Seriously. And I don't really even think it's all that quirky. Honestly, all wreaths that aren't store bought (and even some that are) are a bit quirky. I love owls too.
ReplyDeleteI am also scared of birds. The bigger they are, the scarier they are. I hate geese and crows most. Seagulls too.
Birds really creep me out. I had a seagull steal food from me as a child and birds randomly poop on me when flying overhead. But only when I'm in California. I cringe when I see them and walk in a zig-zag pattern to avoid them. Cindy also had a bird growing up and the thing hated me. It was pure evil. Did you know birds can hiss? Hers did. It's just not natural.
ReplyDeleteYour wreath is cute though!
I love owls in the fall. I think they are so cute. I dont know why but owls in the spring dont do it for me in the same way.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome that you made the owls yourself. I have a thing for owls this year. So yeah, definitely love the wreath!
ReplyDeleteLove it. The parts to my fall wreath are sitting on a chair in the dining room...maybe I'll finish it before Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI love how you can perfectly capture Nate in text. I hear his voice exactly when you type out your conversations.
ReplyDeleteWant to make me one? It's really cute and would look good in my new house :o)
It's really cute! I love that you made the owls yourself too.
ReplyDeleteI also have a fear of birds but seem to be digging owls this fall. And New Girl is amazing... seriously love that show!
Cute!
ReplyDeleteI had an unfortunate encounter with a rooster when I was a youngster, so I feel your pain. I also had to watch the Hitchcock movie about the birds in psych class, which in fact was way worse than the rooster incident...
Love this...and I gave it a major "yay" on Instagram! PS-I'm very happy to see I'm not the only one stoked for season premiere week. :)
ReplyDeleteI really do like your wreath AND New Girl!
ReplyDeleteUh, I think I'm married to Nate's twin because that is definitely something Brad would say. I like your quirky owl wreath. And I can appreciate your bird phobia. I look like a gyrating freak when a bee is nearby. I'm highly allergic. Brad's been known to yell at me ("Seriously, stop! What are you doing?!") as I dodge around and shriek. I married such a compassionate man.
ReplyDeleteSeriously cute. Perfect quirkiness level, just like New Girl.
ReplyDeletei LOVE owls~ Soooooo cute~

ReplyDeleteA good reason to be shared of birds - getting attacked by a Gary blackbird while 9 months pregnant. ;)
ReplyDeleteI think the wreath tunes out cute.
I hate geese. They're mean. Your owls are both cute and quirky.
ReplyDeletemy aunt hates birds too.ang
ReplyDeleteNice wreath!!
ReplyDeleteAwww! So cute. I have a thing for owls, too. I think putting them on a wreath is an excellent idea.
