The More You Know

Today I will fill you in on important things that you should know.

1.  Our powder room was featured on this little blog called Young House Love yesterday.  No big deal.  Okay, fine.  It’s a huge deal. John and Sherry think a room in my house is worthy enough of their blog.  Holy cow.  I thought my blog might explode.  Seriously.  Can a blog combust from page views?  I thought so.  Click below if you missed it/don’t know about YHL/live in an internet-less cave…

2.  Jillian Michael’s is trying to kill me.  I will be Ripped in 30. Or I will die trying.  Probably the later.  Yes, definitely the later.  One of the girls in the video is named Michelle.  I get all panicky when Jillian yells at video Michelle.  I have issues.

3.  I’ve been reading about super foods.  I think waffles should be a super food.  Because they are super.  Especially with peanut butter and syrup.  Who’s with me?  Mmmmm, super food.

4.  My co-workers think I have a problem.  I styled the bookcase at work.  Why do we have WD-40 in the pharmacy?  No one could answer that question.  Good thing I’m not the boss.  Oh wait.

5.  My little brother is done painting his house.  Well, all but about 3 rooms of it.  My little brother will soon be home alone.  Ahhhh.  (P.S.  He’s single.  Holla…..He hates when I try to act cool.)  I’ll share before and progress shots of his house next week.  You know, when I try to be a good blogger again.

6.  I think Nate should help me do something like this around our circular staircase.  I can't get it out of my head.  Nate thinks I'm crazy.  What are your thoughts?  Don't let me down dear blog readers.

Happy week-end!  Who votes molding around the stairs?  Any Jillian fans/haters out there?  I understand both sides.  Waffle fans?  Any styled bookcases at work?  Who wants to date my brother?  I’d make an awesome sister-in-law….

  1. Ugh I just started Six Week Six Pack by Jillian and its kicking my butt. As I just lie in bed right now, my abs are throbbing and my legs are so sore. BUT... It's a good hurt. Here's to a hot body! Ha!

  2. Congrats on the blog mention that is huge.....but no surprise your bathroom is pretty awesome! Love the staircase I say do it! Have a wonderful Easter!

  3. I bet the WD40 is for squeeky doors? Also, you should post more details about your brother... Though I have a sister named Michelle so that could get confusing! Haha

  4. Waffles, pancakes, french toast...we ONLY eat them with peanut butter and syrup. All these years and I've never known anyone from outside our family who loves this flavor combination. I knew there was a reason I liked you!

  6. Kudos on the YHL feature! When they showed my guest room, my little blog doubled in followers. It might have stayed the same since then (cough 2 years ago cough) but who's counting? Ha. Although I'd tell them to talk about Burger some other time, because, let's face it, I'm kind of an attention hog. Annnnyway, I like waffles.

  7. I DEFINITELY approve of the molding around the staircase. And since we all know how much Nate values my opinion, that should be all you need to pull the trigger!

I now want waffles. With PB and syrup. Holy yum.

  8. WhooHoo! Congrats on the YHL feature. You are officially "big league" now :) And I can say I knew you when...

  9. Congrats on your YHL feature! Sorry you were slightly upstaged by Burger.

Do they use the WD-40 to get sticky labels off? A squeaky door hinge? Alternative medicine?

Jillian bores me. I like my DVD fitness instructors to have some pep to them. I also prefer them to say goofy things. Chalene is my favorite. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJ0T-eZ_xhY

    1. I agree about the upstaging! Totally stinky, although it *is* their blog. They should have put that update in Young House Life...

  10. I'm with Chelsea - I was bummed with all the Burger comments. :-( But that was AWESOME anyway!! You should tell us how many hits you ended up getting from YHL. I'm curious.

In other news - I LOVE WAFFLES WITH PEANUT BUTTER AND SYRUP!!

And that wall by the staircase is killer.

    Have a great weekend!

  11. Congrats on the feature!

Also. I LOVE that staircase! But it looks hard. SUPER HARD. So good luck, madam.

  12. that looks kind of like what Kim did to her house stairwell, doesn't it?? Or am i going crazy? Anywho...i LOVE it. Nate needs to get on board!

  13. LOVE the stairs. You need this in your home. I would do it in my house if it wouldn't look totally out of place in a 80's ranch style home.

  14. Nate is doing the stairs because it will look awesome. I had an addiction to waffles that started with my first pregnancy. I try not to eat them now because I am sure they are bad for me. Jillian kicked my you know what last year when I did the shred, the first day I pretty much couldn't walk, my legs were jello. Good luck with her, she's scary! YHL knows awesomeness when they see it! Yeah for you and the powder room, a well deserved recognition!

  15. Congratulations on your YHL feature yesterday! As soon as I saw the stencil I thought "that's Michelle's house!" I started following your blog after the same room reveal was featured on Better After. Get as much mileage as you can from that gorgeous powder room!

    Have a wonderful weekend :)

  16. Super cool feature!! What a compliment to be on yhl!

I think that moulding is beautiful but my husband would also murder me if I suggested such a project. He's already screaming at me and the basement isn't even dug...yet!

  17. Congrats on the YHL feature, fancy pants. That's so exciting!
I vote yes for the molding! Oh my gosh, it's fantastic.
Jillian scares me but I love her. She could terrify my shoelaces into action.

  18. CONGRATS on the feature! You deserved it. The moulding is really fantastic, and I bet it wouldn't be THAT much work... ;)

  19. Congrats on YHL feature! And two thumbs up for the moulding on the stairway :-) I don't think my hubby would let me get away with even suggesting that!

  20. I saw your room on YHL! AWESOME!

  21. You are hysterical!!! Love the molding around the staircase...if I had a staircase like that, I would for sure do that....;) I don't know about the peanut butter part, but waffles are truly great! And If I knew any single ladies, I would try to hook them up with your brother, just so we can hang. Congrats on the feature, you deserve it!!!! Have a great weekend.

  22. Definitely on the molding! Stunning!! And congrats on the YHL feature. Your bathroom is totally cute!

Oh... and waffles ARE the best. So very "Parks & Rec"... Yay!

  23. Please do the staircase molding! It is amazing!!

  24. I was soooo excited for you when I saw that!! Ahhhh!!! Congrats! :D

  26. Congrats on the YHL shout out!
That staircase you pinned is incredible, you should definitely do it!

  27. Congrats on the YHL feature! I am so far behind reading blogs this week. I am missing all these exciting things! Love the staircase idea! Have a great weekend!

  28. Girlfriend. You're amazing. You know it, I know it, my screaming-in-the-background-right-now son knows it, and YHL knows it. Now EVERYBODY knows it, too! When you take over the world (one powder room at a time), can I be your second-in-command? Maybe as Ike's official pooper scooper? A mindless minion? (Already am that last one, actually.) Yay for you :-)

I have tried to like Jillian, but she scares me. I need a happy workout partner who tricks me into thinking I'm having fun, not one who makes me fear for my life and end up in tears stuffing Cadbury mini eggs into my mouth. 28 or however many days from now when you're ripped, you should make your own workout video. I can only imagine how amazing that would be . . .

    ReplyDelete
  29. If Jillian scares you, then you would really be afraid of my bootcamp trainer. I haven't gone past week one of Ripped in 30 and that is cake compared to the crazy stuff he makes us do.

You know I'm super excited for you and your feature! Wahoo!

  30. I pulled up YHL yesterday and said to myself "It's Ike's Parent's Bathroom!" Congratulations on being featured!
I bought Jillian's DVD, and did it for about 3 days before I quit, so I'm very impressed that you're still doing it.
I think the curved wall treatment is fab, but there's no way I'd tackle it!

    ReplyDelete
  31. YES, please put that staircase in your house. It took me one second to type that, so it seems pretty easy and like it should be no problem to implement.

I'm still a little starstruck about your YHL feature and hoping there'll still be room here for the regulars! :)

    1. i'm with kelly...yes to the staircase and yes to the keeping room here for the regulars. ;)
and hey - i thought you were hooking me up with your bro! i think i'll marry him just so i can live in a house that you remodel. :)

  32. I think Nate should really look at that amazing spiral staircase shot. That wall is to die for. I feel like showing Anthony that picture and convincing him to move into a house that has a staircase that we can do this to.

  33. Waffles should be superfoods - and CONGRATs on the young house love feature. Your bathroom (and the rest of your house) deserves every bit of the love.

  34. Your bathroom is worthy of much recognition - it is an amazing space and I love the idea of moulding around the staircase - gorgeous inspiration pic.

  35. Well, after reading this, I want some waffles and a stencilled powder room.
    Happy Easter!

  36. Congratulations on the YHL feature!
Your bathroom is so great - I love it. Definitely like the idea of stepping out of the comfort zone a little in a smaller room like this.

I'm also craving waffles now, so thanks for that ;)

  37. Congrats on the YHL feature!! Makes you feel like a blogging all-star, huh? :-)

  38. Ah those waffles look delicious, and I have to agree with you on the superfoods status that it should have.

Good luck with Jillian. She's a tough one!

I totally am in love with the paint color you used for your brother's kitchen. I might have to steal it when I paint my own apt. Thumbs up! Oh, and , how old is your single brother? ;)

  39. I have to tell you - I love the stairway but it looks really similar to our moulding in our stairs. Which was a royal PITA. Poor Ryan hated that project with a passion - so much wood, so much paint. And it STILL needs paint touched up. I love the look, but give yourself some time because it takes about 100 times longer than you expect. Plus, your space is so much bigger than ours so take that times 1,000.

  40. Chobani is delicious! Also, I was excited for you when I read YHL and saw your powder room. :)
