Today I’d like to share with you all one of my favorite gifts that I received at Christmas.
A cow painting.
This isn’t just any ol’ cow painting. This cow painting was painted my little brother. It is his first painting. I’m beyond impressed. Look at the cow’s shadow.
My brother and I have an interesting relationship. We are extremely close but we do much better in life living apart. He tells everyone that our relationship has the shelf life of fish….3 days and we start to go bad. This is day 2.75 of Christmas at home…
I’m touched that he spent the time to paint this for me. (Not only that but he took photos of the process for a blog post. That’s true sibling love.)
The cows are now living happily in my laundry room….
They make me smile as I’m shoving Nate’s dirty underwear into the washer. That’s an impressive cow painting.
I have my brother pondering an Etsy shop. He doesn’t think they are good enough to sell. I think he is wrong. Because he’s always wrong. He’s my brother.
Any great gifts from your sibling(s)? What’s your shelf life with your sibling(s)?
I think it's adorable...
ReplyDeleteI'm an only...shelf life with myself is about 3 days. Trust me!
I'm an art teacher and I think it's great! There is a similar painting just bigger that was on YHL and I think it was Desire to Inspire a while back. Um, cha Ching!
ReplyDeleteI really love that painting! I have a similar one in my kitchen. I'm a little obsessed with cows and have lots of cow items in my kitchen, including a moocoo clock! I am strange though. However, I think he is onto a winner there. Get that Etsy shop set up now! Brothers are always wrong, so it's up to you to prove it!
ReplyDeleteYour brother is seriously talented! I love the perspective.
ReplyDeletethat is SOOOOO awesome!!!!!! love it! he is talented!
ReplyDeletemy brother and his girlfriend gave us a gift card to lowes to cover the new floor tile we will need for the kitchen. :) and they gave us an awesome yellow pottery utensil holder for the kitchen which sys los angeles on it, so i love that because it makes me think of them.
I think he's wrong too. Those would definitely sell!
ReplyDeleteMy brother makes guitars out of cigar boxes, and they are the coolest things ever. I've got him pondering etsy too. :)
I love it! He's definitely wrong! Those would sell big time on Etsy!
ReplyDeleteWow. Your brother has some impressive skills. Seriously! I absolutely love the painting - and it's definitely perfect for that spot in your (gorgeous) laundry room. Total win.
ReplyDeleteAw, that's so sweet!
ReplyDeleteI love the painting, what a great gift! He definitely has talent, and could be very successful with an Etsy store.
ReplyDeleteI have a brother and a sister, both younger, and our shelf life is about 3 days also. Anything shorter, we all still love each other, anything longer and the claws come out :) I got my most favorite present from my sister and brother-in-law, it is a big professional picture of my brand new niece Kylie!

What a fun painting! Your brother could definitely sell them!!
ReplyDeleteI think my sister and I are good for about a week but then just start to get on each others' nerves.
I love that painting. It goes perfect in your laundry room too!
ReplyDeleteActually, I gave my sissy a going away present yesterday that was a pinterest craft. She cried. I will blog about it later this week!
We used to bicker quite a bit, but now that she's in school on the east coast the claws come out less.
This is beyond cool and I love that he did this for you!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet! He did a great job and I definitely think he should open an Etsy shop! My brother and I can't really have a serious conversation. It always turns into crude jokes and butt slaps... but I like it that way. :)
ReplyDeleteMy heart melts every time I see that photo of Ike by the shoes in your previous post!
That is his FIRST painting?! Wow. Etsy shop FOR SURE. It looks great!!
ReplyDeleteThis is TOTALLY sell-worthy. It's great!
ReplyDeleteTell him to do it! Who doesn't like Etsy and everything on there? I would so buy one of his paintings for my sons room. We just repainted the whole room in those bright blues and green and a couple of cows would so make it pop!
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome!! I love that your little brother took the time to create something for you.
ReplyDeleteAdorable painting.
ReplyDeleteThe shelf life with my sister tends to max out after 24 waking hours, sometimes less. We get along so much better now that we live in different cities.
That is so cute. I think it is super thoughtful that he took the time to make this for you. Great present.
ReplyDeleteThis is moovalous! He did an awesome job! If he doesn't want to paint each one, could he scan yours and sell the prints?
ReplyDeleteI love that print! It's charming and happy and totally sell-able. My shelf life with my siblings is about 3 hours. :)
ReplyDeleteYou bro is so talented. I think he should start and Etsy shop, though there would be a lot of pressure to perform! My bro loves cows so that painting would be perfect for him.
ReplyDeleteI'd totally by a cow painting like that but then again I grew up on a cattle farm so I kind of like cows.
ReplyDeleteShelf life of my brother is a long time if my parents aren't around. My sisters abut 30 seconds.
Aww! It's so cute, and even better because your brother made it for you. :) I get along really well with my siblings. We're weird. When my sister was born, though, I was 10 (she was a bonus baby, my parents like to say--they were only planning on 2) and I did NOT like her at ALL. It took me months to even touch her. We've found my journals from then that were all about how much I hated her and that she was ruining my life and I wanted her to live on the roof. (Oh, the drama of a pre-teen being forced to share her mom and her room...)
ReplyDeleteAhhh I love it!!!! And that cows dirty knees (which is so accurate but so bizarre to me at the same time) have me remembering a picture I took of a cow once... which I am now emailing to you. What a great gift! Good job brother ; )
ReplyDeleteMy brother is 9 yrs younger...his idea of a good gift is a framed photo of himself...and he doesn't even buy the frame.
ReplyDeleteMy brother and I have a very similar relationship. I am three years older than him. He is incredibly awesome, and has this talent of finding the perfect hilarious card for me for any occasion.
ReplyDeleteIts great. Good for him! What an amazing space you have created here and thanks for sharing. I will follow on my way out and hope you can find the time to come visit me and do the same. I look forward to engaging throughout twenty twelve with you. Cheers SpecialK XoXo
ReplyDeleteI want one! Is the shop open?
ReplyDeleteCute painting! I love your laundry room, especially the fabric on the shades. ;)
