Let’s Talk About You

First of all, I’m super surprised by the response to yesterday’s post.  It was my first picture less post and honestly, I was a little nervous about the whole thing.  I might break it down into a little bloggy series.  We’ll see.

I briefly mentioned yesterday that one of my favorite things about blogging is the community.  I enjoy reading your comments (and the blogs of those who comment).  I know there are more of you out there and I want to hear from you!

(I did this back in June and I liked it. And I think there are more of you out there now.  And I write this thing so I schedule the activities around these parts.  I promise I will have “real” posts again next week!)

Tell me all about yourself!

Don’t you hate when people do this?  I always blank…it’s like “tell me about yourself” block.

Here are some suggestions to help you out (but definitely don’t limit yourself to these ideas)…

About You:

  • The easy stuff: Where are you from? How old are you?  Do you have babies?  Fur or human.
  • Using a scale of 1 to 10, rate yourself on how weird you are.
  • If you could be any superhero, who would it be?
  • What do you do from 9-5?
  • If you were a cookie, what kind would you be?
  • Favorite TV show? Movie?
  • Favorite Book?  (This is selfish because I’m always looking for a good read.)
  • Favorite exercise DVD (Again, selfish reasons.  I keep forgetting this is about you.)
  • A funny story about yourself.

And………What are you dying to know about us?  Our house?  The dog? The answers to the above questions?  I’ll answer any random questions that you may have for us (well, almost any question…).  Ask away!!…or tomorrow’s “Answer All” post will be mighty boring.

I want to hear from all of you.  That includes you non-commenting lurkers, second cousins once removed, friends of friends, etc.  All of you!  I’m nosey. If you won’t do it for me, do it for this pretty face…

Now spill your guts!….

Same Q's from you guys please (inc Ike). Keep on with the great posts - your house is lovely :)

  4. Fun! (and yes please do more posts like the last. I haven't had time yet to digest it frenzy...but it was good. so good.)

How did you and Nate meet? What would you do if you weren't saving the world one prescription refill at a time?

  5. I loved reading yesterday's post. Your honesty is always fresh & timely. I love when you pop in and comment on my blog; thank you!

  6. Hi, I'm Lyndsay :). I am from Connecticut, but we have moved all over...Orlando, Dallas, Boston, Cape Cod, and we are in the midst of our 5th move.

I am 25 and my hubs is 27. We have been married for a year and a half and don't have any human children, just two orange cats.

I would say i am a 7 on the weird scale, but Dan would probably say I am more like an 8 or 9 haha.

From 9-5, i manage the sales for a luxury wedding/special event resort on the water. My hubs is a sales manager for a fine/rare wine distributor.

If i was a cookie, i would most definitely be the peanut butter kind with the large kisses in the middle.

Favorite TV show right now is a tie between Bones, The Office, and Modern Family. I'm not a big movie girl, but this time of year I always love Love Actually.

Choosing a favorite book is like water torture since there are too many to choose from. I recently finished The Help, which was fantastic!

i just google pilates videos and do a wide variety. no particular fav!

If you were a cookie, what kind would you be? Mississippi Mud, all the way.

Favorite TV show? Movie? I like DIY TV, and trashy reality (Teen Mom, RHO Atlanta, NY, NJ, etc). Movie? Grease. Footloose.

Favorite Book? (This is selfish because I’m always looking for a good read.) Almost every book I can get my hands on. I read everything.

Favorite exercise DVD (Again, selfish reasons. I keep forgetting this is about you.) Exercise? What's that?

A funny story about yourself. Um.. I have a bunch, but they usually involve me embarrassing myself. Let's see- I got to fly in a helicopter when I went into labor with my girls. My husband wouldn't speak to me when we met because he thought I was spoken for. I once opened my car door into my face and chipped a tooth.

  10. I'm Amy! 30. Born and raised in Topeka, Kansas. We're building in Meriden which is a smaller town just outside of Topeka.

I have one real baby, Severin, he's 9 months old. And one fur baby, Toby who is a year and a half. We are actually looking for a second fur baby in need of a good home.

I've known my husband since we were 10 years old, but we only started dating two years ago. Once we got together, we were done for. Got married and pregnant immediately. Haven't looked back!

I feel like I'm right up there around an 8 on the weird scale, what with all my OCD tendencies and need of symmetry.

I have a bachelors in Victim/Survivor Studies and a masters in Social Work... but somehow ended up in marketing and lurve it.

    Cookie = chocolate chocolate chip.

I have recurring nightmares involving water. I always have them more when I'm feeling out of control. Last night, I dreamed I was following the GPS a little too literally and drove right into a lake.

Do you live where you grew up, or have you moved around a bit? Have you always had pets, or is Ike your first love?

  11. Hi There! I'm Amanda and I live just outside Toronto in Ontario, Canada. No babies for my husband and I yet but we do have a lovely puppy, Izzy.

I don't think I'm weird at all, but don't all weird people say that about themselves? Actually... considering that I have been known to sing En Vogue in front of 250 of my students... maybe that qualifies my for the weird category :)

During the day, I'm a Post Doctoral Fellow which basically means I do research, write articles, and teach courses... Like a professor-in-training.

My husband and I love watching Revenge, The Good Wife and Hawaii 5-0 and we can watch anything with Jennifer Garner over and over and over!

As for a favorite book? That's a hard one, I love to read and right now I'm making my way through the Outlander series which I am loving - but they are long so plan on a bit of a time investment!

Now tell us about you... what do you like to watch/exercise to/favorite Christmas song?

  12. fun fun! i LOVE talking about myself! ;)
The easy stuff: Where are you from? currently in maryland and have been here for almost 5 years.... but originally new england which still feels like home to me. we are in the part of md now that is most like where i grew up.
How old are you? 20. ha ha, ok 33.
Do you have babies? Fur or human. 2 human babies, though emmy had some nice fur on her shoulders when she was born (lots of babies do)... and 2 fur babies also. emmy and sawyer are human ages 6 and almost 5 (one month away!) and charlie will be 12 next year, jake is 8.
Using a scale of 1 to 10, rate yourself on how weird you are. aren't we all weird? i don't think it can be rated as we all have our quirks. and if i thought i was a 7 or 8 i probaably really am only like a 1 or 2 in the grand scheme of things. that makes sense.... doesn't it?
If you could be any superhero, who would it be? the invisible man.... i would love to be a fly on a wall and have those invisible powers. i could peolpe watch all day without being creepy. ;)
What do you do from 9-5? whatever i want... it changes daily. of course i have emmy with me most of that time- but we do laundry, clean, thrift craft, paint, bake. and sometimes we argue.

Favorite TV show? Movie? GLEE! the notebook
Favorite Book? (This is selfish because I’m always looking for a good read.) the lovely bones and most books by kristin hannah and jodi picoult... oh and the hunger games and twilight series! i like to read.
Favorite exercise DVD (Again, selfish reasons. I keep forgetting this is about you.) i don't do dvd's- i can never stick with them. but i like to play just dance on the wii.
A funny story about yourself. as a child i was obsessed with annie and almost fell out my window because i was sitting in it singing "maybe" just like she does in the movie....

my question for you... do you really still want to be my friend after reading all this about me?

  13. From Minneapolis, now live in Kansas City. My whole family is from Iowa, my husband and I would like to get to Iowa some day - hopefully near Cedar Rapids

    33 years old

    2 fur, one human, 2 step-humans

Favorite exercise DVD Jillian's 30 day shred- not too hard, hits you the next day. Prepare to be sore

I hate it when people fish for followers. (which you do not)

Saw your bathroom on better after- that girl is hilarious

  14. Ooooo, perfect. I love talking about me.

Where are you from? I live in Minnesota, I'm "from" Seattle and I was born in Louisiana. It's confusing.

How old are you? 25! Quarter of a century!

Do you have babies? Well, you already know the answer to this one. Furbabies all the way, man.

Using a scale of 1 to 10, rate yourself on how weird you are. Yikes. 8? I'm abnormal. Remember? I get up at 4:30. That's not normal.

If you could be any superhero, who would it be? Uhhhh, does Peter Pan count? I used to dream I was Peter Pan when I was a kid because I really want to fly.

What do you do from 9-5? IT Project manager for a retail giant.

If you were a cookie, what kind would you be? You ask hard questions. How am I supposed to pick a cookie? Ummm....peanut butter? Peanut butter blossom? Maybe snickerdoodle. I like snickerdoodles.

Favorite TV show? Movie? Well, my favorite TV show is probably Castle, but now I'm not home on Monday nights so I haven't seen it since last May. The only one I watch now is Biggest Loser. I love BL!

Favorite Book? This goes back to the weird thing. I only read business books, usually. Delivering Happiness (about Zappos) and Onward (about Starbucks) are both EXCELLENT reads.

Favorite exercise DVD? Jillian Michaels, 30 Day Shred. I heart Jillian.

    Questions for you:
What's your next big house project?
When are we going to meet IRL?
Are you going to get another dog?

  15. - We're from Red Lake Ontario Canada, a really incredibly remote location we moved to 3years ago. We eventually purchased our first home here and recently passed the 2year mark of home ownership. We're in our mid20's, have 2 cats, 1 dog and 1 kiddo.

Weird scale =11. It's really not a bad thing.

Superheroes: Bat Man, because he uses his ninja-like abilities to be badass and doesn't actually have any 'super' powers to cheat/beat bad guys with; unless you consider being filthy rich a super power. (I have also always wanted to be a ninja).

What do you do from 9-5? Formerly a SAHM, I've been out of work for a handful of years, opening the door to pursue some of my own hobbies further. I Paint, draw, draft, sew, build. Anything that calls for creativity or 'making' I am pretty much all over. Going back to school in January, so that will be interesting.

If you were a cookie, what kind would you be? Peanut butter chocolate fudge.

Favorite TV show? Movie? Hard one. Haven't had cable/tv since 2007; the last tv show I watched (and liked) was HBO's Game of Thrones, not sure if it should be considered a favourite though. House is pretty good too. As for Movies... gah. Off the top of my head: Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas; Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels; Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind; The Nines; Inception; Coraline; Anything Bruce-Lee and about 100 other flicks.

Catcher in The Rye by J.D. Salinger
Who has Seen The Wind by W.O. Mitchell
A Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
    Transparaent Thing by Vladimir Nabakov
    Fifth Business by Thomas Hardy

    Newly discovered literary loves:
Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace (seriously effing good!)
    The Alchemist by Paulo Cohelo
One Bloody Thing After Another by Joey Comeau
House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski
    And many, many more.

Favorite exercise DVD Ahahaha. "Exercise DVD" is not in my vocabulary. Adventure is though. I prefer to go on hikes with my husband & dog around the lake or up the bones of the old mountains to get in my daily 30-45. Urbanex is fun too, though we do more 'industrial' exploration of the old mine sites around these parts (which is always fun & interesting) DVDs make me extremely self conscious (how weird is that?) even if I am doing the exercises at home. Alone. Even in a room with no windows.

A funny story about yourself. My life is an on-going comedy. An ironic comedy.

    The questions part:
Hypothetical last meal, what would it be?

Travel: if you could go anywhere & cost was not an issue, where would you want to go the most?

Your are stuck on a desert island, and you can only bring 5 things with you (things, not people mind you), what are they?

    Favourite historical era?

Favourite animal? (Besides Ike, because obviously he's got the #1 fuzzy 4legged spot in your heart)

and that's all I got, not enough caffeine to inspire random questions. Very very fun post, lets hope you get some better (and less random/quirky/weird) answers before tomorrow :)

Our house? Is it ever messy?

The dog? Does Ike play well with others or is he a loner?

Bonus Question: Do you edit all of your pics? The lighting in my houe yanks it. Any suggestions on what tools to use in picnik?

    **Interrogation Ended**

Favorite Book? The Time Traveler's Wife, or anything by Jodi Picoult
Favorite exercise DVD Does Top Chef on Netflix count? They run around...
A funny story about yourself. My life is mainly a comedy of the absurd, or an ironic comedy.

I haven't had enough caffeine to think of any good questions.

  18. Hello! I'm Kendi. I'm originally from Northwest Iowa and went to college in Northeast Iowa. Even though we've never met, reading your blog is sort of sentimental, as I miss Iowa, especially in the winter. Yes, I know almost every part of that last sentence is strange. I'm almost 35. Married, one cat, one 3 year old, and one baby due in May. Currently live in Fort Worth, TX.

According to my family, I'm a 12 on the weird scale.

From 9-5 I do research, go to class, and write papers. 2nd year PhD student. Also work part-time.

Gingerbread cookie. Made them last night, and I truly do love them.

TV, oh how I miss you. After graduate school, I look forward to rediscovering this aspect of life.

You don't want to read any of the books I'm reading.

I'm a gym girl, no space in my house for exercise.

Love your blog. It's good to see how someone balances having a "real" job and then doing house projects and blogging about them. So far, I suck at this.

Thanks for being interested in us! I have a little private blog that's just pictures of my kid for her grandparents. But maybe someday I'll grow up and have a real blog!

  19. Where are you from? Seattle-ish

How old are you? A week and a half from turning 28

Do you have babies? Two furry bed hogs of the feline variety

Using a scale of 1 to 10, rate yourself on how weird you are. 7

If you could be any superhero, who would it be? Wonder Woman.

What do you do from 9-5? Sigh . . . lawyer.

If you were a cookie, what kind would you be? Peanut butter chocolate chip

Favorite TV show? Friday Night Lights.

    Movie? Apollo 13. Nerd? Yes.

Favorite Book? As I Lay Dying by Faulkner

Favorite exercise DVD? Cheryl Burke Disco Abs. Seriously.

A funny story about yourself. In 7th grade and friend and I went skiing and crashed into each other as we got off the chair lift in front of a dozen child skiing prodigies.

Did you do a lot of research on the type of dog you wanted before you got Ike? How often do you clean your house? What is your dream job?

  20. Fun!!

Where are you from? -- Long Island, NY

How old are you? -- 26 years young

Do you have babies? Fur or human. -- Neither. Too selfish for anything but my hubbie right now. :)

Using a scale of 1 to 10, rate yourself on how weird you are. -- If you go by neice, who constantly says how "we-ERD" I am, a 10.

Favorite exercise DVD (Again, selfish reasons. I keep forgetting this is about you.) -- Yoga with hand weights by Sara Ivanhoe!!!

PHEW! Aren't you so glad to know all that!?!? :)

  21. Alright, I'm typing this on the iPad so it'll probably look like I'm drunk typing! Hhaha

I am 22, and I feel old now. I never let myself think past the age 21.

I live just outside Lexington Kentucky. It's small and redneck. We live here because it's cheap!

I am very weird. I'd say I'm about a 7. I'm not socially awkward or that girl who smells bad in school and reads anime.... They'd be a 10 in my eyes. But I do get irrationally hyper sometimes and I carry my book in my purse all the time so I've been known to pop it out and read in weird places... Like a club when I'm the dd.

I have a lot of favourite books... I was a librarian for 5 years so I'm great at helping people find books to read. If you ever want some advice, just ask. But I need to know your recent reads first! Personally my most recent favourite is the painted man by Brent Weeks. It's technically a fantasy.

Ummm from 9 to 5 I sub at my moms middle school when I'm lucky enough to get a call. Otherwise I work in our family's daycare sometimes, that's where Rob works all the time, but I am going to school in January to get my own teachers certification. I want to have a solid job so bad. I hate money stress.

Favourite show is either game of thrones off hbo, the British top gear, orrrr gossip girl. Quite a range there I know.

A funny story might be the time I got dreadfully drunk while I was living in England, and fell down in the supermarket cutting my lip open.... rob says I tried to teach everyone in the store how to sing the american national anthem. This is only funny If you know how rarely I drink.... It was the only time I've ever been drunk!

    Erm. Okay about you now:

Why do you live in Idaho or is it Iowa? Something with an I!

What's your fab flavour of icecream? Mine is birthday cake!

Have you ever played the game quelf? It's awesomely fun.

Where did you go to college?

If you had kids, what would you name them? I think I've is an awesome name personally.

Are you planning on having kids? If so, please don't get baby crazy like so many other bloggers do.

Do you ever drop stuff on Nate from the top story of your house? I think you all have a balcony area right?

    Okay that's enough randomness.

  22. Oh, I love this stuff, I'm a 31 year old from TX, with two hairballs, and two little munchkins.

I would probably give myself an 8 1/2...I'm weird, what can I say?

Superhero would probably be Jean Grey from X Men...I would love to see what people are thinking...I know....weird!

Favorite movie, Gone with the Wind, favorite book, The Pillars of the Earth....awesome book by the way!

Don't own any exercise dvd's, because I would never use them, I force my self to go to the gym 4 days a week....yuk!

I am and extremely clumsy person. I'm always tripping on my own feet, constantly bumping into walls and such....I'm always bruised....and most of the time, I can't remember how I got it.

And since you said we could ask anything, here it goes, when are you guys having kiddos? Imagine, Decor, the baby and the dog blog?

  23. super fun. i think if i did this on my blog, i'd just get the same people who always comment.

me: 32 y.o, 1 cat baby who i am flipping obsessed with, living with boyfriend for last 4 years, been together for 14 total. wowza!

oh my gosh, super wierd and proud of it! if i may quote "if i seem a little strange, well, that's because i am." heck yeah!

    superhero-meh. just want to teleport.

don't have any specific questions, but i like learning about bloggers, too.

  24. I'm a native from Oregon, born, raised, and still living there. 24 years old, with two dogs and a cat.

I don't watch real-time tv due to lack of cable, but I watch a few shows online: Bones, NCIS, Criminal Minds, Grimm, House, Grey's Anatomy.

Favorite book is about the hardest question ever. I more have favorite authors. Mercedes Lackey (especially the five hundred kingdoms series and the elemental masters series). Robin McKinley. L.J. Smith (from back before they made a tv show from her books). Patricia Wrede.

  25. I'm from Georgia. I'm 28 and I have two fur babies and I'm about an 7 on the weird scale, but I know some really weird people so that might skew my score.
I'm a massage therapist and I'd love to write a blog but I have horrible grammar so I haven't yet, I also don't know what I'd write about.

I have to thank you for mentioning Ikes wubba. I had never heard of it until you and my dogs loves that thing. I'd love to hear your book recommendations!

  26. My name is Tiffany, I'm 36 and from the Dallas area. My household includes 4 kids (11-5) and two dogs, so I think it qualifies as a zoo.

My weird factor is prob a 5 - averagely weird. But then I don't have too much time to just be me, so who knows

Superhero - wonder woman. Have had a girl crush on her since I was little.

From 9-5, or really 5:30am - 10pm I am the stereotypical soccer mom. Get the babies out the door, laundry, clean house, vol at schools, then the dreaded homework time, dinner, practices, cleanup, crash. And repeat.

Favorite tv show - love me some Good Wife, law and order, criminal minds, but must confess that the Real Housewives are my guilty pleasure.

Book - I always go back to the classics - Persuasion.

    Can't even talk about exercising...

Questions for you: what rooms in your house haven't you shown us? What is your favorite trend right now? What decorating trend do you hate that everyone else seems to love?

  27. I'm 24 from Missouri (currently living in St. Louis) and married with five fur-babies (two dogs and three cats)

Um.. I guess I'm a 8 on the weird scale... I get pretty goofy sometimes.

Batman, but a girl. ...but not batgirl...

I'm a graphic designer at a small print shop.

    Chocolate chip. It's a classic.

    TV Show: Firefly
    Movie: 5th Element
Book: Tough one. I read a lot but anything by Garth Nix or Tamora Pierce I love!

Funny story? Well I have a lot because I am a huge klutz and tend to walk into or trip over things. Once back in high school during lunch I was carrying a cup of melted cheese (warm but not hot) for my pretzel and tripped. When I tried to catch myself, I ended up throwing the cheese cup upwards and into my face, coving myself in cheese infront of everyone. A little embarrassing, yes, but I still think it was hilarious to this day!

    Exercise DVD: uhh.. what now?

    Questions for you:
You always talk about how awesome Ike is, but what about the naughty things he does. I know my two pups get into all kinds of trouble, from getting into the trash to running off after a squirrel.

How do you budget for your home improvement/decorations. Do you set funds aside just for it to use on a whim or plan & save for months before taking the plunge?

  28. Where are you from? Born in Alabama, raised in Texas... Texas all the way, honey!!

How old are you? Somewhere between 25 and 15... pick a number.

Do you have babies? I have a black and white cat named Tommy... and then, I live with 4 other dogs... a Poodle, Blue Lacey (I think), Australian Cattle dog, and a Lhasa Apso. They are my brother's, sister's, and mom's dogs.

Using a scale of 1 to 10, rate yourself on how weird you are.
    Oh man. Probably an 8.

If you could be any superhero, who would it be? An angel. I mean, they're kind of like superheros!

What do you do from 9-5? A lot of different random things. I make bread, do school, clean, de-clutter, cook, laugh, play, read blogs, daydream, have fun, and get on facebook way to much :).

If you were a cookie, what kind would you be? I would love to be one of my grandma's chocolate chip cookies. They are awesome.

Favorite TV show? Oh my... I'd have to say Curious George. Remember the weird question... yea.

Movie? My mind just went blank... darn it!

Favorite Book? Ancient series by K.T. Kimbrough.

Favorite exercise DVD? T-Tapp by Teresa Tapp. Love her DVD's.

A funny story about yourself: One time, my friends and I went on a trip. We had just gotten to our hotel when my friend handed me the card key to our room... I took one look at that card and saw that there was a picture of food (advertisement) on it. I totally goofed and said, "Oh no thanks. I don't go to restaurants that much." Something happened in my brain... I though my friend was handing me a gift card to a restaurant! Ugh. I was thoroughly laughed at.

Can you post more about your yard? I am completely clueless about the rhythm of gardening here in IA (whatdoyoumean, seasons?). Although it's been remarkably warm this week.

  30. Wait a sec... so you can just ASK for it, and the non-commenting lurkers will comment? Brilliant.

Lo here, Bend Oregon, 26 years old with 2 fur babies, 2 doggers and 2 kitties.
On a scale of 1 to 10 in weirdness, I'd go with about a 7 for myself, and an 8 for James, so we are one weird family!! I love it though, weird is the new normal ya know?

A funny story about me... hmmmm, well my life is kind of just one big funny story. But yesterday I sat a table at my restaurant and told the guests, "you'll find the beer list on the yellow shit on the table." Its a yellow SHEET of paper. Woops.

Love your blog Michelle, thanks for being weird and awesome!! Keep its up!! And thanks for always commenting on mine. You make me smile : )

  32. Fun! I love getting to read these things!

The easy stuff: Where are you from? How old are you? Do you have babies? Fur or human.
I’m a 30 year-old, married lady living in Sunny South Florida. Born and raised in this sunny locale and likely never leaving. No human babies but the hubby and I have a growing brood of furry ones – three mutts and two cats. That is about all we can take if furry craziness around here so we’ll stick to human ones if we decide to expand anymore

Using a scale of 1 to 10, rate yourself on how weird you are. I’m safely a 6 – 8 on the weirdness scale. That makes me endearing, right? ;)
If you could be any superhero, who would it be? Not sure, honestly.

What do you do from 9-5? Marketing and technology executive

If you were a cookie, what kind would you be? A peanut butter and chocolate cookie – a little sweet and a little salty.

Favorite exercise DVD Thirty Day Shred is a fav and so is Weightloss Yoga Biggest Loser.

Using a scale of 1 to 10, rate yourself on how weird you are.

    A funny story about yourself.
I had an old lady (who I did not know) to walk up to me and ask me if I was "one of them anorexia girls." I was about 95 pounds soaking wet at the time, but I've never had an eating disorder.

  35. My name is Holly; long time lurker, every so often comment-er.

    I am from Pennsylvania.

    22 years old.

    I have 5 fur babies, 1 dog & 4 cats.

I'm around 4 in the weirdness factor. My weirdness comes off as " there something wrong with her?" not the funny "haha that's weird!"

    I am a Bank teller.

I'd be an M&M cookie. I'd also probably find someway to eat myself.

Three's Company for TV. Diary of a Mad Black Woman for movie.

Exercise DVD? Hmm, Belly Dancing DVDs!

Story time! Here recently we took a window out of our pantry that used to be a bathroom that we are turning back into a bathroom. And my husband put plywood over the vacant spot left. I came home from work, took a look at it, and later on I asked my husband "Hubby dearest, are you going to put the siding back up?" I got a weird look for him. It didn't click with me. I asked again "the had to have done something with it, you are going to put it back up right?" More blank stares. Then I got.."Uhm do know that was a win..." I cut him off, blurted out "WINDOW! You have to SEE out windows!! There was no siding over it!!"

And thus is how I learned that I will never be a world amazing house fixer upper. =P

Where are you from? Columbus, Ohio...lived here my whole life and I like everything about it EXCEPT for the weather!
    How old are you? 26
Do you have babies? I have one on the way (due in May)! and two doggies :)

Using a scale of 1 to 10, rate yourself on how weird you are. I'd say probably an husband may say 9-10 :)
If you could be any superhero, who would it be? I guess batman so I could talk in a creepy voice and have an awesome car!
What do you do from 9-5? I teach kindergarten - 3rd graders
If you were a cookie, what kind would you be? chocolate chip or PB with reese's pieces. Not because I want to be them, just because I like to eat them. I don't really want to BE a cookie, sounds like a sad life to me!
Favorite TV show? Modern Family and anything on HGTV (Property Virgins, House Hunters, Designed to Sell, etc.)
Movie? way too hard, I can't pick one. I hate this question.
Favorite Book? Lately I've really liked Jodi Piccoult. I also like James Patterson, Michael Connelly, Harlan Coben, etc.
Favorite exercise DVD: I really just like to do the "exercise on demand" channel on my cable. I hate doing the same thing over and over so this keeps me interested. Let's be honest though, I don't exercise enough.
A funny story about yourself. Today I went to the salon to fix my poor broken nail (see my post from today) and was too cheap to actually treat myself to a manicure so I paid $3 for the repair and left. LAME!

  53. Duh! I forgot to ask you questions.
-How old is Ike and is he ever going to get a brother or sister? (fur or human!)
-What is YOUR 9-5 job and do you like it?
-Do you drive your husband crazy with your constant re-decorating? My husband doesn't allow stuff like that, I have to be sneaky! :)
-Is the pillow in the pic with Ike a cable knit sweater pillow? If so, where is it from? I need it!
-Do you have to get Ike groomed? How often?
-Are you wondering if I have any questions about you?! :)
-What is your most awkward and/or embarrassing story?

  54. 25-year-old law student from Charleston, SC. Proud mama of two rescue mutts who are my world. You MUST READ "How to Kill a Rockstar" won't be able to put it down it's so good. You're welcome in advance :)

  55. Great Falls, Montana ... and older than dirt. We have several cats, including two 2-month old kittens we bottle fed. Definitely a 10 on the weird scale; have lived in several different states. Am an admin asst for a process serving company; get yelled at. a lot. Am in the middle of remodeling our house so can't tell you the name of the book but the author is Emily Richardson. To top it all off, love your blog and your home. Thanks for the smiles!

  56. I'm Nikki from Alabama (yes, I say y'all), 32, married with 2 little boys.

    Wierdness - 6(ish)

    Superhero - super woman

    Stay at home mommy.

I don't read books, just blogs.

Fav exersice DVD - Turbo Sculpt

What current decor trend to you hate the most?

  57. Georgina here
I live in Timberlea Nova Scotia, Canada. I have two incredible girls and a retired greyhound named Roland. A 13 year old cat named snickelfritz. Oh and a fan husband of nearly 22 years. You dog is super cute. I just stumbled across you blog and love it

  58. 59 from Iowa but I am 25 at heart...:) I have 2 furbabies and 2 daughters. I guess I'm pretty weird. Of course, I would be Wonder Woman flying around in my invisible plane. From 9-5 I am either being a landlady or watching decorating shows and cuddling with my furbabies. Human babies grown and gone. Right now, prob my fav show is My house, Your money, hehe. Monster Cookie, of course and Love Actually as I am a hopeless romantic. Hundred Secret Senses by Amy Tan is great and I love anything Jennifer Cruse. As far as exercise dvd, I have pretty much given up on that and haven't bought any for years. I guess I do like those Indian dance workouts. Kinda fun to dress up in bangles and scarves. A funny story...hmmm. Once I wasn't paying close attention at an auction and bought a ratty torn up vinyl recliner that the auctioneer took out of sequence. When I figured it out, the other bidders had a pretty good laugh at my expense...oh well. :) My question is: Do you have any tips for spiffing up an ugly cinder block basement?

  59. I'm from small town of Auburn Michigan (soon to be Kawkawlin...just bought a house). I'm 21 years old and I don't have any human babies just 2 kittens (Moo and Bull...they are black and white reminded me of cows) and soon to be 2 puppies. Then there is my beloved puppy niece Dakota that I spoil like crazy and my brother appreciates that so much.

I am probably a 9 on the weird scale.

If I was a superhero I'd be the Flash, love going fast.

From 9 to 5, I'd be either at school or sleeping (I work 3rd shift) just depends on the day.

I'd be a peanut butter cookie!! (Chocolate allergy so that rules out just about every cookie.)

Favorite TV show is Big Bang Theory (I'm a nerd like to watch nerds on TV), Friends (can quote it in my daily life...and I do did I mention I'm really weird), and Criminal Minds (creepy but amazing.) World's best movie TopGun!

Favorite book that doesn't deal with baseball or Detroit Tigers would have to be Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers.

Favorite exercise DVD depending on the amount of time I have either 4-3-2-1 (10 minute exercise DVD) and P90X.

A funny story...hmm...I recently broke my foot/toe (broke my foot at the joint where the toes meet the foot) okay that's not the funny part. The funny part is how I managed to do it. So I was at a friend's house and she said she was going push me down the stairs. So I jokingly fell down the stairs and then really fell down the stairs and broke my foot.

  60. Kirsty here! I just turned 26 and live a looong long way away from Iowa(?) New Zealand!!

My husband and I have two fur babies (Nala and Harley our two insane and very large dogs) and no kids just yet...I don't think I would cope they way our dogs run around the place! ;)

On the weirdness scale, hmm I think everyone is kinda weird in their own way so maybe a 5??

I would be superwoman and I'd be awesome!

From 9-5 I work in finance but I dream of being a designer or decorator or maybe even an event planner...

Ooh if I was a cookie I would be triple chocolate, you can never have enough chocolate!

My favorite TV show is Modern Family and anything home related! Fave movie is The Notebook. Fave book is The Horse Whisperer by Nicholas Evans.

Fave exercise DVD...I have some old Core Secrets dvds, does that count?? They actually work too!

Funny story...I have terrible eyesight and for years I avoided wearing glasses, the turning point happened when I was at the mall and I thought I saw my husband sitting in our car waiting for me in the carpark so I walked up and proceeded to get in, only to turn around and see a very surprised man I didn't know staring at me from the drivers seat and realised I was in the WRONG CAR!! Eyesight FAIL. I was mortified, hubby thought it was hilarious. So now I wear my glasses...without fail, everyday ;)

  61. I'm from Charleston, SC, but live in Greenville, SC. 29 *Ah!* No human babies, but one furry one.

I'm probably a 6 in public and an 8 when I'm by myself. I can reign it in when I need to.

Some kind of crazy Xmen... like I can turn to water or something.

I'm an Inside Sales Manager for a technology company.

    TV: Friends
Movie: Right now, Twilight (yep, I'm one of those). Of all time, Singin' in the Rain
Favorite Book: Right now, The Hunger Games. Of all time, Jane Eyre
Favorite exercise DVD: Fluidity (but you have to buy the bar and mat too)

OK, so when I was 12 my parents dressed us all up and took us to see a musical at the local theater (which is pretty fancy). They have these little spickets around to hook up the concession booths. We were on the balony and I tripped over one, turning it on, which proceeded to drench all the people around us and those that were hanging out below. They put little caps on the spickets now.

  62. Awesome responses! I'm going to have to do this on my blog! I LOVE learning about other people.

The packers are here, so I have to be quick. Weirdness - pretty high up there. But, I've always embraced it!

Oh, I'm 35, in AZ today, but a resident of TX starting this weekend!

Books. I mostly read books about leadership or counseling or psychology - love those topics. I'm such a nerd in that way.

9-5 and other times - decorating for clients and blogging.

Right now, I like Windsor Pilates dvd.

TV show. Sheesh, I like and record too many. I really like New Girl right now... and Tori and Dean's show... and Psych.

  64. I was born and raised in Ankeny, Iowa. I moved to NYC (Manhattan) after college (ISU) where I lived for 12 years and absolutely LOVED it. I am currently living in the San Francisco/Silicon Valley area of Northern California.

I'm at that age that is no longer fun to think about, talk about and never, ever share.

I have the most loving and adorable cat.

Probably a seven on the weird scale.

I'm currently unemployed, so just being back in the workforce contributing to society and my, hopefully, future retirement would be close enough to a super hero for me at this time.

My favorite book is "To Kill A Mockingbird."

A favorite movie is harder for me to pick. For me a great book will move me much more than a great movie.

  65. I'm a little late on the commenting but I've decided that's okay because you already know the answers. I'm a 9.375 on the weird scale and I have 2 questions (that are totally unrelated to your blog at all).....

    1. Why do you not pack up your hubby (or leave him at home) and come visit Reno?
    2. If you refuse to come visit Reno, can I move into your basement? It's walk-out so you would never have to see me......think on it. I'll wait.

Congrats again on the birthday week! You rock!
