First of all, I’m super surprised by the response to yesterday’s post. It was my first picture less post and honestly, I was a little nervous about the whole thing. I might break it down into a little bloggy series. We’ll see.
I briefly mentioned yesterday that one of my favorite things about blogging is the community. I enjoy reading your comments (and the blogs of those who comment). I know there are more of you out there and I want to hear from you!
(I did this back in June and I liked it. And I think there are more of you out there now. And I write this thing so I schedule the activities around these parts. I promise I will have “real” posts again next week!)
Tell me all about yourself!
Don’t you hate when people do this? I always blank…it’s like “tell me about yourself” block.
Here are some suggestions to help you out (but definitely don’t limit yourself to these ideas)…
About You:
- The easy stuff: Where are you from? How old are you? Do you have babies? Fur or human.
- Using a scale of 1 to 10, rate yourself on how weird you are.
- If you could be any superhero, who would it be?
- What do you do from 9-5?
- If you were a cookie, what kind would you be?
- Favorite TV show? Movie?
- Favorite Book? (This is selfish because I’m always looking for a good read.)
- Favorite exercise DVD (Again, selfish reasons. I keep forgetting this is about you.)
- A funny story about yourself.
And………What are you dying to know about us? Our house? The dog? The answers to the above questions? I’ll answer any random questions that you may have for us (well, almost any question…). Ask away!!…or tomorrow’s “Answer All” post will be mighty boring.
I want to hear from all of you. That includes you non-commenting lurkers, second cousins once removed, friends of friends, etc. All of you! I’m nosey. If you won’t do it for me, do it for this pretty face…
Now spill your guts!….

I have a bachelors in Victim/Survivor Studies and a masters in Social Work... but somehow ended up in marketing and lurve it.
Cookie = chocolate chocolate chip.
I have recurring nightmares involving water. I always have them more when I'm feeling out of control. Last night, I dreamed I was following the GPS a little too literally and drove right into a lake.
Do you live where you grew up, or have you moved around a bit? Have you always had pets, or is Ike your first love?
Hi There! I'm Amanda and I live just outside Toronto in Ontario, Canada. No babies for my husband and I yet but we do have a lovely puppy, Izzy.

Ooooo, perfect. I love talking about me.
ReplyDeleteWhere are you from? I live in Minnesota, I'm "from" Seattle and I was born in Louisiana. It's confusing.
How old are you? 25! Quarter of a century!
Do you have babies? Well, you already know the answer to this one. Furbabies all the way, man.
Using a scale of 1 to 10, rate yourself on how weird you are. Yikes. 8? I'm abnormal. Remember? I get up at 4:30. That's not normal.

What's your next big house project?
When are we going to meet IRL?

ReplyDeleteWeird scale =11. It's really not a bad thing.
Superheroes: Bat Man, because he uses his ninja-like abilities to be badass and doesn't actually have any 'super' powers to cheat/beat bad guys with; unless you consider being filthy rich a super power. (I have also always wanted to be a ninja).
What do you do from 9-5? Formerly a SAHM, I've been out of work for a handful of years, opening the door to pursue some of my own hobbies further. I Paint, draw, draft, sew, build. Anything that calls for creativity or 'making' I am pretty much all over. Going back to school in January, so that will be interesting.
If you were a cookie, what kind would you be? Peanut butter chocolate fudge.
Favorite TV show? Movie? Hard one. Haven't had cable/tv since 2007; the last tv show I watched (and liked) was HBO's Game of Thrones, not sure if it should be considered a favourite though. House is pretty good too. As for Movies... gah. Off the top of my head: Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas; Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels; Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind; The Nines; Inception; Coraline; Anything Bruce-Lee and about 100 other flicks.

The Alchemist by Paulo Cohelo
One Bloody Thing After Another by Joey Comeau
House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski
And many, many more.
Favorite exercise DVD Ahahaha. "Exercise DVD" is not in my vocabulary. Adventure is though. I prefer to go on hikes with my husband & dog around the lake or up the bones of the old mountains to get in my daily 30-45. Urbanex is fun too, though we do more 'industrial' exploration of the old mine sites around these parts (which is always fun & interesting) DVDs make me extremely self conscious (how weird is that?) even if I am doing the exercises at home. Alone. Even in a room with no windows.
A funny story about yourself. My life is an on-going comedy. An ironic comedy.
The questions part:
Hypothetical last meal, what would it be?
Travel: if you could go anywhere & cost was not an issue, where would you want to go the most?
Your are stuck on a desert island, and you can only bring 5 things with you (things, not people mind you), what are they?

Hello! I'm Kendi. I'm originally from Northwest Iowa and went to college in Northeast Iowa. Even though we've never met, reading your blog is sort of sentimental, as I miss Iowa, especially in the winter. Yes, I know almost every part of that last sentence is strange. I'm almost 35. Married, one cat, one 3 year old, and one baby due in May. Currently live in Fort Worth, TX.

You don't want to read any of the books I'm reading.
I'm a gym girl, no space in my house for exercise.
Love your blog. It's good to see how someone balances having a "real" job and then doing house projects and blogging about them. So far, I suck at this.
Thanks for being interested in us! I have a little private blog that's just pictures of my kid for her grandparents. But maybe someday I'll grow up and have a real blog!

Fun!!

ReplyDeleteI am 22, and I feel old now. I never let myself think past the age 21.
I live just outside Lexington Kentucky. It's small and redneck. We live here because it's cheap!
I am very weird. I'd say I'm about a 7. I'm not socially awkward or that girl who smells bad in school and reads anime.... They'd be a 10 in my eyes. But I do get irrationally hyper sometimes and I carry my book in my purse all the time so I've been known to pop it out and read in weird places... Like a club when I'm the dd.
I have a lot of favourite books... I was a librarian for 5 years so I'm great at helping people find books to read. If you ever want some advice, just ask. But I need to know your recent reads first! Personally my most recent favourite is the painted man by Brent Weeks. It's technically a fantasy.
Ummm from 9 to 5 I sub at my moms middle school when I'm lucky enough to get a call. Otherwise I work in our family's daycare sometimes, that's where Rob works all the time, but I am going to school in January to get my own teachers certification. I want to have a solid job so bad. I hate money stress.
Favourite show is either game of thrones off hbo, the British top gear, orrrr gossip girl. Quite a range there I know.
A funny story might be the time I got dreadfully drunk while I was living in England, and fell down in the supermarket cutting my lip open.... rob says I tried to teach everyone in the store how to sing the american national anthem. This is only funny If you know how rarely I drink.... It was the only time I've ever been drunk!
Erm. Okay about you now:
Why do you live in Idaho or is it Iowa? Something with an I!
What's your fab flavour of icecream? Mine is birthday cake!
Have you ever played the game quelf? It's awesomely fun.
Where did you go to college?
If you had kids, what would you name them? I think I've is an awesome name personally.
Are you planning on having kids? If so, please don't get baby crazy like so many other bloggers do.
Do you ever drop stuff on Nate from the top story of your house? I think you all have a balcony area right?
Okay that's enough randomness.
Oh, I love this stuff, I'm a 31 year old from TX, with two hairballs, and two little munchkins.

Superhero would probably be Jean Grey from X Men...I would love to see what people are thinking...I know....weird!
Favorite movie, Gone with the Wind, favorite book, The Pillars of the Earth....awesome book by the way!
Don't own any exercise dvd's, because I would never use them, I force my self to go to the gym 4 days a week....yuk!
I am and extremely clumsy person. I'm always tripping on my own feet, constantly bumping into walls and such....I'm always bruised....and most of the time, I can't remember how I got it.
And since you said we could ask anything, here it goes, when are you guys having kiddos? Imagine, Decor, the baby and the dog blog?
super fun. i think if i did this on my blog, i'd just get the same people who always comment.

ReplyDeleteI don't watch real-time tv due to lack of cable, but I watch a few shows online: Bones, NCIS, Criminal Minds, Grimm, House, Grey's Anatomy.

ReplyDeleteI'm a massage therapist and I'd love to write a blog but I have horrible grammar so I haven't yet, I also don't know what I'd write about.
I have to thank you for mentioning Ikes wubba. I had never heard of it until you and my dogs loves that thing. I'd love to hear your book recommendations!
My name is Tiffany, I'm 36 and from the Dallas area. My household includes 4 kids (11-5) and two dogs, so I think it qualifies as a zoo.
ReplyDeleteMy weird factor is prob a 5 - averagely weird. But then I don't have too much time to just be me, so who knows
Superhero - wonder woman. Have had a girl crush on her since I was little.
From 9-5, or really 5:30am - 10pm I am the stereotypical soccer mom. Get the babies out the door, laundry, clean house, vol at schools, then the dreaded homework time, dinner, practices, cleanup, crash. And repeat.
Favorite tv show - love me some Good Wife, law and order, criminal minds, but must confess that the Real Housewives are my guilty pleasure.
Book - I always go back to the classics - Persuasion.
Can't even talk about exercising...
Questions for you: what rooms in your house haven't you shown us? What is your favorite trend right now? What decorating trend do you hate that everyone else seems to love?
I'm 24 from Missouri (currently living in St. Louis) and married with five fur-babies (two dogs and three cats)
ReplyDeleteUm.. I guess I'm a 8 on the weird scale... I get pretty goofy sometimes.

TV Show: Firefly
Movie: 5th Element
Book: Tough one. I read a lot but anything by Garth Nix or Tamora Pierce I love!
Funny story? Well I have a lot because I am a huge klutz and tend to walk into or trip over things. Once back in high school during lunch I was carrying a cup of melted cheese (warm but not hot) for my pretzel and tripped. When I tried to catch myself, I ended up throwing the cheese cup upwards and into my face, coving myself in cheese infront of everyone. A little embarrassing, yes, but I still think it was hilarious to this day!
Exercise DVD: uhh.. what now?
Questions for you:
You always talk about how awesome Ike is, but what about the naughty things he does. I know my two pups get into all kinds of trouble, from getting into the trash to running off after a squirrel.

A funny story about yourself: One time, my friends and I went on a trip. We had just gotten to our hotel when my friend handed me the card key to our room... I took one look at that card and saw that there was a picture of food (advertisement) on it. I totally goofed and said, "Oh no thanks. I don't go to restaurants that much." Something happened in my brain... I though my friend was handing me a gift card to a restaurant! Ugh. I was thoroughly laughed at.

ReplyDeleteThe easy stuff: Where are you from? How old are you? Do you have babies? Fur or human.
I’m a 30 year-old, married lady living in Sunny South Florida. Born and raised in this sunny locale and likely never leaving. No human babies but the hubby and I have a growing brood of furry ones – three mutts and two cats. That is about all we can take if furry craziness around here so we’ll stick to human ones if we decide to expand anymore
Using a scale of 1 to 10, rate yourself on how weird you are. I’m safely a 6 – 8 on the weirdness scale. That makes me endearing, right? ;)

If you were a cookie, what kind would you be? One of my peanut butter balls. No reason other than they're DELICIOUS.
Favorite TV show? Movie? Justified, Southland, Ellen, RHOA, Modern Family. Crash, Shawshenk Redemption, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Bridesmaids.

Exercise DVD? Hmm, Belly Dancing DVDs!
Story time! Here recently we took a window out of our pantry that used to be a bathroom that we are turning back into a bathroom. And my husband put plywood over the vacant spot left. I came home from work, took a look at it, and later on I asked my husband "Hubby dearest, are you going to put the siding back up?" I got a weird look for him. It didn't click with me. I asked again "the siding...you had to have done something with it, you are going to put it back up right?" More blank stares. Then I got.."Uhm honey..you do know that was a win..." I cut him off, blurted out "WINDOW! You have to SEE out windows!! There was no siding over it!!"
And thus is how I learned that I will never be a world amazing house fixer upper. =P

59 from Iowa but I am 25 at heart...:) I have 2 furbabies and 2 daughters. I guess I'm pretty weird. Of course, I would be Wonder Woman flying around in my invisible plane. From 9-5 I am either being a landlady or watching decorating shows and cuddling with my furbabies. Human babies grown and gone. Right now, prob my fav show is My house, Your money, hehe. Monster Cookie, of course and Love Actually as I am a hopeless romantic. Hundred Secret Senses by Amy Tan is great and I love anything Jennifer Cruse. As far as exercise dvd, I have pretty much given up on that and haven't bought any for years. I guess I do like those Indian dance workouts. Kinda fun to dress up in bangles and scarves. A funny story...hmmm. Once I wasn't paying close attention at an auction and bought a ratty torn up vinyl recliner that the auctioneer took out of sequence. When I figured it out, the other bidders had a pretty good laugh at my expense...oh well. :) My question is: Do you have any tips for spiffing up an ugly cinder block basement?
ReplyDeleteI'm from small town of Auburn Michigan (soon to be Kawkawlin...just bought a house). I'm 21 years old and I don't have any human babies just 2 kittens (Moo and Bull...they are black and white reminded me of cows) and soon to be 2 puppies. Favorite exercise DVD depending on the amount of time I have either 4-3-2-1 (10 minute exercise DVD) and P90X.
A funny story...hmm...I recently broke my foot/toe (broke my foot at the joint where the toes meet the foot) okay that's not the funny part. The funny part is how I managed to do it. So I was at a friend's house and she said she was going push me down the stairs. So I jokingly fell down the stairs and then really fell down the stairs and broke my foot.
Kirsty here! I just turned 26 and live a looong long way away from Iowa(?)...in New Zealand!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I have two fur babies (Nala and Harley our two insane and very large dogs) and no kids just yet...I don't think I would cope they way our dogs run around the place! ;)
On the weirdness scale, hmm I think everyone is kinda weird in their own way so maybe a 5??
I would be superwoman and I'd be awesome!
From 9-5 I work in finance but I dream of being a designer or decorator or maybe even an event planner...
Ooh if I was a cookie I would be triple chocolate, you can never have enough chocolate!
My favorite TV show is Modern Family and anything home related! Fave movie is The Notebook. Fave book is The Horse Whisperer by Nicholas Evans.
Fave exercise DVD...I have some old Core Secrets dvds, does that count?? They actually work too!
Funny story...I have terrible eyesight and for years I avoided wearing glasses, the turning point happened when I was at the mall and I thought I saw my husband sitting in our car waiting for me in the carpark so I walked up and proceeded to get in, only to turn around and see a very surprised man I didn't know staring at me from the drivers seat and realised I was in the WRONG CAR!! Eyesight FAIL. I was mortified, hubby thought it was hilarious. So now I wear my glasses...without fail, everyday ;)
I'm from Charleston, SC, but live in Greenville, SC. 29 *Ah!* No human babies, but one furry one.
ReplyDeleteI'm probably a 6 in public and an 8 when I'm by myself. I can reign it in when I need to.
Some kind of crazy Xmen... like I can turn to water or something.
I'm an Inside Sales Manager for a technology company.
Oatmeal

OK, so when I was 12 my parents dressed us all up and took us to see a musical at the local theater (which is pretty fancy). They have these little spickets around to hook up the concession booths. We were on the balony and I tripped over one, turning it on, which proceeded to drench all the people around us and those that were hanging out below. They put little caps on the spickets now.
Awesome responses! I'm going to have to do this on my blog! I LOVE learning about other people.
ReplyDeleteThe packers are here, so I have to be quick. Weirdness - pretty high up there. But, I've always embraced it!
Oh, I'm 35, in AZ today, but a resident of TX starting this weekend!
Books. I mostly read books about leadership or counseling or psychology - love those topics. I'm such a nerd in that way.

ReplyDeleteI was born and raised in Ankeny, Iowa. I moved to NYC (Manhattan) after college (ISU) where I lived for 12 years and absolutely LOVED it. I am currently living in the San Francisco/Silicon Valley area of Northern California.
ReplyDeleteI'm at that age that is no longer fun to think about, talk about and never, ever share.
I have the most loving and adorable cat.
Probably a seven on the weird scale.
I'm currently unemployed, so just being back in the workforce contributing to society and my, hopefully, future retirement would be close enough to a super hero for me at this time.
My favorite book is "To Kill A Mockingbird."
A favorite movie is harder for me to pick. For me a great book will move me much more than a great movie.
I'm a little late on the commenting but I've decided that's okay because you already know the answers. I'm a 9.375 on the weird scale and I have 2 questions (that are totally unrelated to your blog at all).....
ReplyDelete1. Why do you not pack up your hubby (or leave him at home) and come visit Reno?
2. If you refuse to come visit Reno, can I move into your basement? It's walk-out so you would never have to see me......think on it. I'll wait.
Congrats again on the birthday week! You rock!
