Keeping Up with the Griswolds

Is your house on fire, Décor and the Dog?
No, dear readers, those are Christmas lights!
Night Xmas 114
The LEDs are blinding.  I’m pretty sure you can see our house from space.  True story.  If you are flying over the Quad Cities this holiday week-end (space ship or regular ol’ jet plane), let me know.
Night Xmas 117
Do you decorate the outside of your home?  Is there such a thing as too many lights? I’m trying to talk Nate into setting them to music next year.  A bit much?  Nah.

  3. Oh this is so pretty! We have a semi-detached and our attachees (haha) choose to have an inflatable tigger dressed as Santa out front so we try to just blend into the background. I hate those inflatable things with a passion. If I could have an inanimate arch enemy, it would be them.
I focus on decorating inside, instead. Lights inside have such a nice ambience.

  4. You can never have too many lights!!! .....Though I'm not a huge fan of the LED's. They always feel really cold to me. But yes, they are BRIGHT! :)

  6. Love it!! We don't have any lights on the exterior of our house, but it was a big deal to me growing up and we always "made" our dad put them up. Nicely done!

  7. OH MY GOD!! how did you get them all the way onto the roof?? Huge ladder? That would make me so nervous! how did you secure them as you put them up?

  9. Love it! You've already gone this far, now you HAVE to add music. I think it's required at this point. I love it and think it's great! We all should be so fun. Great spot at Blooming Hydrangea, glad I found you.

  10. Lookin' good! LED lights blind me. It's that crazy little flicker thing they do.

We were minimal on the outside decorations this year-- too busy. Whaa-whaa.

  11. The house across the lake from us put their lights to music--it's actually pretty amazing, and there are always cars parked over there watching the 15 min. "show." I'm guessing it's a ton of work, though. Your house looks pretty the way it is, even if it doesn't flash and blink and dance to the tune of Frosty the Snowman. ;)

  14. I love exterior Christmas lights. I've been trying to get Ryan to put them up for 4 years. I will break him one day.

  18. We do not have any outsiders currently since our wonderful rental has zero outdoor plugs. Next year!

There are a few houses around here and at home up north that have their homes set to music. We just went to one this weekend. I say DO IT!

  19. Your LED lights look great. We tried some last year but the looked like the kind of lights a seedy motel would have... the kind Dexter uses... it was BAD. We went with the traditional colored lights, but yours are great (and not Dextery-creepy in the slightest) =)

  20. No such thing as to many lights! I love driving around and looking at all the lights that people put up...hate actually putting up lights myself.

  21. Love it! We went with LED this year too. I bought a bunch last year on clearance. I'm actually loving the extra glow it gives.
