Master Bedroom Closet

Today I would to introduce you to a new “room” in our house….our master bedroom closet.  It’s nothing fancy.  It is large and practical.

030

The closet is where Ike likes to sleep in the sun and bark at the dog across the street. And we store our clothes here.  The large picture window may be a slight design flaw.  We do enjoy the natural light…just not the having to remember to close the blinds when changing at night.

On the left is my side…

On the right is Nate’s…

This past week-end I went through all of my clothes and got rid of things that didn’t fit, have been with me since high school, were stained, etc. I don’t know why it took me so long to tackle this because it is so nice having extra room.  I’ll drop these clothes off at the Salvation Army.  I like donating.

I did make a huge step in my life.  I got rid of some ugly flannel pants there were about 5 sizes too big and were thinning horribly.  I’m surprised part of my wedding vows didn’t include me getting rid of these immediately.  The Christmas tree pants, however, were on me so they survived…much to Nate’s disappointment.

Ike wanted to keep his cherry bikini but I eventually talked him into letting it go…

027

You’re not in high school any more little buddy.  Sad day…

Are you a clothes hoarder or do you only keep what you wear?  What’s the ugliest but yet most comfortable item of clothing that you own that you just can’t part with?  Who feels bad for my poor sleepy dog?

  1. Time to stop lurking and start confessing! I wear the oldest daggiest clothes around! I'm out in the shed sanding and painting most of the time anyway so who cares? I have been known to wear paint splattered, sanding dust covered clothes to pick up my kids and duck down to the corner store.

I used to have the most amazing pair of humungous ex-boyfriend track pants that I adored and wore all the time at home. I wonder what ever happened to them? I think someone must have got jealous and stolen them for themselves.

Btw: I adore your blog and your xmas tree pants!

  3. One lucky lady! That's a nice closet you have to work with! And yes I tend to be a clothes hoader because I like to keep clothes that I can no longer wear because I am convinced that I will be both fat and skinny throughout the year multiple times:)

  4. Great closet! I'd love to have windows in our walk-in closet. I really need to go through my closet and get rid of stuff I'd never wear again. Another thing on my to-do list.

  5. Jealous of your closet!! I have a "walk in" closet but you can walk in and then turn in a circle...you can reach all the racks by standing in the middle, haha!
I'm a clothes hoarder :( I always say to myself "I might wear this again..." I usually donate stuff once every season and try to get rid of things I didn't wear that past season at all, things that don't fit, and things that I don't like anymore.

  6. Oohh...what a beautiful closet! So organized! I've totally always been a clothes hoarder (um hello 1994 rugby polo) but this spring I redid our bedroom closet and purged like a crazy woman. It's wonderful to have the space. Clealy 100 years ago folks must've had one pair of pants and two shirts...because our closets are micro-mini. I AM, however, still rocking a giant flannel muumuu nightgown that I could fit at least four of myself inside. It's my husbands *favorite* thing I wear to bed. hehehe ;-)

  7. Your closet is so neat! I'm working on mine right now since I'm still awaiting paint from Dutch Boy. But its pretty ugly and messy. I will be posting scary photos of it that way.

  8. This made me laugh. I just did a post (a horribly embarrassing one at that) a few weeks ago about the hideous, tattered lounge pants that my husband is disgusted I still wear. They are my favvvvv though. Like relaxation in tangible form. So comfy. But the verdict is in and I'm now looking for another pair I can love as much.

  9. Dude, I want your closet!!!! Our is approximately 4 feet wide. And we share it. Boo to the lame. I'm a total clothes hoarder, but I only wear my favorites, which means I wear 5% of my closet. I'm donating a whole ton of stuff, though, so we're making progress. Slowly.

  10. The dog in the cherry bikini - could almost be a song :) ! When it comes to flannel pants for the home it is more about the comfort than the look - the more worn the better..I hold on to those for a little longer. Both yours seem so comfortable.

  11. LOL - he looks so sad that he had to give away his cherry bikini. Your closet is so nice. All that space is heavenly!

  13. I need a wardrobe update badly. A few of my holes have shirts in them (so embarrassing) but most of it does fit. I'm getting married next month so I'd really like to have a more mature look. I actually started a pile of things I can donate - although sometimes I just throw terrible things in the trash.

  14. Since we're moving I've been going through the house and purging. We've only been in this house for 2 years yet I managed to fill 8 garbage bags. I blame the kids! Great closet.

  15. Girl, you have a window in your closet! That is cool! Our closet is a small walk in, it forces me to purge at least twice a year.

    Love the cherry bikini!

  16. Omg! I want your closet SO bad!! At first I thought "WOAH! That's huge!" but then the more I thought about it I'm like "well...it is more like a dressing area; instead of having dressers and the such hanging out in the room, you have them all in their own room..." so it made a lot more sense but it is so beautiful! And I adore Ike, he's so cute. I need to go through my clothing and get rid of some...or a lot.

  17. Ike can rock a cherry bikini - why did you make him give it up? Although, it may have confused the other boy dogs at the doggie park ;) I'm a clothing hoarder. But I also don't buy anything unless I'm absolutely in LOVE with it. Which makes parting with old clothes so much harder. :-/

  18. Also, did you chop your hair? It looks great! =) (apparently I have commenting ADD today...)

  19. Man, you have a clean closet!
I probably do a good cleaning and donation run twice a year, but even after that my closet doesn't look as good as yours. Did you really make Ike get rid of his bikini?

  20. I think Ike wants his own tiny Christmas tree pants.

I also think he should be able to keep his bikini, but only if he's worn it within the last year. Nothing worse than a hoarding dog.

  21. Hehehe...I love the pictures of the dog...Ike, I hate to break it to you buddy, but you need to wax *BAD* (c: I always feel so liberated after a good closet purge...and then I promptly fill it right back up! DOH!

  22. hahaha! Forgetting to close the blinds whilst changing at night...

What a gorgeous closet! I'd love to have that much room & natural light.

  23. I don't have that much closet space, so I'm trying to not be a clothes hoarder. Having a day job meant that I couldn't wear so many t-shirts, but now that I'm telecommuting, I get to wear them again.

the closest I have is a bathrobe that's super comfortable. I'm probably going to wear that all day when I'm working from home.

  24. You are too funny! Awesome closet! I throw things out fast! To my detriment. Love Ike's bikini, though.

  25. hahaha...Ike's cherry bikini. Love it. :) I purged my closet about a year ago and it felt amazing. I got rid of about half of my stuff. It's nice to clear out every once in a while!

  26. I like the pants. I like your dog wearing bikini even more.

  27. your closet, both sides, is so neat and clean it makes me sick!!!

  28. Michelle, love the closet! The drawers, the white against the walls, it's great! I love to throw things away, sometimes it's my downfall. love Ike's bikini and your Christmas tree pj pants. Thanks for making me smile and for linking up to Roomspiration!

  29. Hilarious...we all have hideous clothes that we cherish, right? My roommate in college threw away several of my things that she hated and I nearly killed her! My husband is threatening.

    Love your doggy!

  30. Oh, I love the window. Great lighting in closets is so rare! And your dog is rocking that bikini. Sadly, he looks better than I do in one... ;)

  32. Awesome closet!! I have to confess, I am wearing my fugly gray sweats (about 4 sizes too big) that I got in the men's department about 8 years ago. AAHHH, so cozy. Love your closet!! :)

  33. Oh that Ike is such a character! I have way too much in my closet but I feel like I don't know where to begin with it! I would love to have a window in there!
