National Dog Day

National Dog Day was founded in 2004 by the Animal Miracle Network to remind pet owners to celebrate the important roles dogs play in humans’ lives and encourages pet owners to honor their furry friends.

I think we’re reminded every day about the importance of this little dude in our lives…

He’s melted our hearts since the beginning….look at those puppy paws…

We quickly learned why Wire Fox Terriers puppies so darn cute.  It’s called survival of the fittest.  They are so naughty.  The only way for them to continue on in the world is to be painfully cute…

Obviously Ike’s cuteness got him through his puppy years…

I think one of things that we love the most about Ike is his love of life and they joy that he brings.  His little tail is always a wagging and every minute is the best minute of his life…(unless it’s time to give him his eye drops (he has chronic dry eye which equals 2 eye drops twice a day!), bath time, or teeth brushing time…but who can blame him??)) He loves walking, doing tricks, playing with Wubbas, snuggling, and following us from room to room. He helps remind us on a daily basis to live in the now!

  1. How nice!
Here we don´t have a "dog day", but we have an "animal day" in april 29.

We have two Pug dogs, Atilio and Simona, and they are the love of our lives!
Atilio, the male (he has dry eye too) is always liking Simona´s face. They are so sweet! always together playing, eating, sleeping...
Atilio is like "rebel without a cause" and love kids, and Simona is all sweetnnes, and is afraid to kids, haha.

    Ike is soooo beautiful!

    Kisses!

  2. Every day is National Dog Day at our house!
Harry and Georgia have such distinct personalities. Harry is well mannered and reserved. He prefers to sit on the couch with his favorite toy and watch the world go by. Georgia is a crazy woman who is always right in the middle of everything :)

  7. My dog's name is Kiwi and she is a Chihuahua-Poodle mix. She is nine years old and she is a naughty little monster but I love her to pieces. Her favorite food is apples. She loves to get into the trash. She refuses to go outside if there is snow or rain on the ground and even though she's a girl, she lifts her leg to tinkle. She brings me so much joy and I consider her my dog-baby.

  9. Awe! I love puppy paws!! Ike is a cutie patootie!

Our furry bb is Scout a.k.a Scouty La Rue we adopted him from the local humane society. He was the cutest of the litter with the ugliest name---BUTCH.

I mean really? Butch? So now when he is bad (which is a lot) we say Butch did it!
Either way, he's the best little snuggler and loves me and my husband more than we can imagine.

I love when Ike is featured in posts! He is such a happy dog!

  10. Ike is the cutest and best grand dog ever even though he used to pee on my carpet and eat my drywall. LOL Can't wait to see him (oh and you too) in 3 wks. I've already told Pedro to get rested up so they can play. Mom :)

  11. We have a 9 year-old lab, Dailey, who weighs in at 120-he's Clifford the big black dog! We've had him for just over a year and I can't say enough good things about him. He's totally neurotic and is definitely a people person, but he's gentle and kind and so good with my kiddos. Totally worth all the extra house cleaning to keep up with his shed-tastic coat :)

No dogs here, but my cats melt my heart. Some people hate cats. I adore them with every fiber of my being. They're my kids, you know?

  14. HOW DID I MISS NATIONAL DOG DAY?! It looks like we will have to celebrate a little late. So... my husband and I have determined that we must steal Ike. I hope this is okay with you guys. He is just too cute!

We have Yui, who is definitely naughty and mischievous like someone you mentioned... She too is our little fur baby and we are in love. :)

  15. Michelle, this has seriously been one of my favorite posts!! Ike is such an awesome breed and I adore his puppy pics! You have inspired me to write my own post about our dog Colden. I wish I got it done in time for this day but life was too busy. It's coming soon! :) Thanks for a great post!

  16. You know, Jack Russell's also only make it to adulthood because of their cuteness. In fact my two year old is still mostly surviving on cuteness really...
