House Tour- Basement Family Room

It’s Friday….which means it’s time to continue on the house tour…

Now we are on to the areas where we haven’t really touched.

Here is the Family Room….

This space has good potential.  It’s 1 big open room. We haven’t done a lot to it because we have spent our “budget” working on the main floor.  You know, the floor that most people see.

Also our decorating plans for this space sort of depend on whether we have children or not.

Sans children, I can picture a nice kitchenette and pool table on the left side of the room and some large framed vintage posters on the right side…but I can also see a big old farmhouse style table for board games and arts and crafts on the left and Disney movie watching on the right.

At this point in our lives, both have their pros and cons.

Either way, we do plan to add some sort of entertainment center (possibly build it??) in this area...

We will also probably change out the Simpsons theme for something a little more grown-up…but who’s in a hurry to grow up???

What’s your vote for this space…..pool table or board games?

  1. I love the idea of a big farmhouse table with or without kids. Adults love playing games. ;)

It's a great space. I really like the big sofa, too.

  2. I like the ledge behind the couch. My suggestion would be large scale colorful artwork. You have a ton of wall space and a very neutral palette of black & white. This opens you to endless options for a gorgeous pop of color. I'm also loving the idea of some crisp white built ins for an entertainment center (maybe with the shelf backs painted a color?)

Can't wait to see what you do!

  3. i think building an entertainment unit together would be fun! and i doubt that it would be TOO complicated (depending on style of course). Do you ever look at this blog for ideas?

  4. I do love me some ana white!! Her site helped up with some design questions we had when making the headboard for our master bedroom.
I just have to be patient and wait for the end of tax season before I suggest building any of this crazy stuff. :)

  5. Ooh my husband and I were just talking about our basement plans. I say kitchenette and pool table! :)
