This is the room where we spend most of our time watching tv, reading, blogging, napping, etc....
you know, living.....in the living room....
When planning this room I wanted something that looked like grown-ups lived in the house (even though they don't) but was still warm and inviting.

- Wall color: Macademia (Sherwin Williams)
- Furniture: Ethan Allen Retreat sofa, love seat, and chair
- (This was before I knew furniture shouldn't be so matchy-matchy but matchy-matchy it is. I kind of like matchy in certain rooms...like this one...because I have no choice...)
- Shelves: JCPenney Leaning Shelf
- Coffee table and end table: American Furniture
- Rug: Pottery Barn rug bought at Tuesday Morning for over half off (BONUS!)
- Accessories on shelves: thrift stores, Gordman's, gifts, TJMaxx, Marshall's
We do eventually plan to add built-in shelves and a fancy-schmancy mantle but that is a ways away (pesky student loans) and I am always changing out pillows and accessories on the shelves but overall...done...sort of...

i love your big windows! that room gets so much light, it looks so comfy! I can't decide how i feel about matchy-matchy furniture. we have a living room set in our family room and a bedroom set in our bedroom, but i somehow love the feel of our other living room better where it's not so matchy. but its a sectional in there, so its hard to tell :). I love your set though...that color is nice because you can accent with a lot of different things

Your blog was shared on a Beagle list so we're interested in decorating around the dog(s). Your home is beautiful and I'm very impressed with the decor which very gently approaches minimalism which is my new approach. Regarding 'matchy-matchy' I'm really not a fan, but you don't have enough furniture in the room to be a cause for worry. Although the upholstered furniture are alike, they are neutral enough to be similar without really qualifying for matching. Thanks so much for sharing your lovely home.
